Abstract
The invention relates to an individual cell (1) for a battery, comprising an electrode stack (7) arranged in a cell housing, said cell housing being formed from two electrically conductive substantially parallel opposing shell-like housing side walls (2, 3), each with a peripheral shell flange (5) on its rim, the shell flanges (5) being materially bonded and electrically insulated against each other to form a flange region (12), terminal contact lugs (11) on the electrode stack (7) being electrically connected to the housing side walls (2, 3). According to the invention, at least one of the housing side walls (2, 3) protrudes at least partially beyond the flange region (12) along at least one edge of the cell housing, the portion (13) of the housing side wall (2, 3) that protrudes beyond the flange region (12) being angled towards the interior of the cell (9) and towards a shell base part (10) of the housing side wall (2, 3) and at least one fastening element (16) being formed in or on at least one angled portion (13). The invention further relates to a battery which is constituted of a plurality of individual cells (1).
