This application claims the benefit of Turkey Utility Model Application 282349, filed August 27, 2012, the disclosure of which is incorporated by reference herein in its entirety.
Technical Field
The invention, intended for home and workplace use for cleaning floor surfaces, is a mop head that is able to be mounted to rods with screw-top connectors and also those with lock-in place systems.
Background
Cleaning mops are preferred for cleaning smooth surfaces at home and at workplaces. Cleaning mops are made-up of a rod, the head connecting to it, and a cleaning rag. Currently, various types of mop- heads are available for mounting on a mop rod. For example, one of the most commonly used mop heads is a mop head that has a screw-in part, enabling the screw-shaped tooth of the rod to connect to the head. Another example is a mop with a lock-in system for locking the rod into head, much like a bayonet-type connection. Lastly, an addition mop-head used is a cylinder-shaped one with latch protrusions, which enable the mop rod to lock- in to the mop head.
It can be seen that current techniques include the portion of the mop connecting the rod to the head come in various geometric shapes such as long (elongated), lemon-shaped, long and spherical- shaped, or a square.The shapes of mop heads are generally determined by ease of use, yet the existing heads do not provide the expected user-friendliness and convenience.
Summary
The disclosed mop head can efficiently mount onto various mop rod types, while remaining user- friendly, practical, durable and mechanically strong. In addition, the mop head can provide an easily used and economically manufactured mop head. The disclosed mop head can be mounted to the end of mop rods which use both lock- in systems and screw-in mounting systems for the purpose of attaching the cleaning rag. The mop head includes a circular foundation for cleaning rag attachment, a cylinder-shaped fixed diameter area in which the mop rod is to be connected, and the base includes a set of protrusions so that the cleaning rag may be tightly secured in place. The cylindrical rod has a fixed diameter throughout its vertical length.
In one embodiment, the mop head includes a security cover that is mounted to the base portion of the mop head to keep the cleaning rags fixed. The security cover has preferably been made of plastic. In one embodiment, the mop head is comprised of two parallel vertical extensions throughout the length of the connector portion of the rod. Furthermore, in one embodiment the mop head includes horizontal extensions along the rod connector area.
In one embodiment, the mop head, includes cavities on the base portion of the head. Brief Description of the Drawings

Detailed Description
The disclosed mop head has (1) a compact structure. The cylinder-shaped connector piece where the mop rod is mounted (3) has an optimized length. As such, this piece is kept at a minimal length that enables both the lock-in and the screw-in systems ideally. The cylindrical connector piece's is at a preferred length (3) between 25 and 40 mm, even more preferably it is between 25 and 35 mm, and particularly between 28 and 32 mm.
Minimizing this length enables reduced costs for both materials used and manufacturing aspects.
However, the aforementioned length has been optimized. If the length becomes shorter than specified, then the detachment of the head from the mop rod, or breakage may occur during cleaning.
The cylindrical portion in which the mop rod is to be placed (3) has a fixed diameter along its length. This structure enables a high mechanical strength during use, including rotational movements. The fixed-diameter cylindrical structure optimizes the cylindrical connection piece without compromising mechanical strength, which, in other words, enables to keep the length at minimum.
In one embodiment, the mop head, (1) has a spherical shape. This spherical shape provides ease during cleaning by enabling the mop rod to control the mop when rotated in all directions. In addition, the spherical shape of the mop head enables the rag to spread evenly and perform a hygienic cleaning. In the current technique, long (elongated), lemon-shaped, long and spherical shaped or square shaped mop heads lack those attributes and cannot be used especially for cleaning sharp corners. The mop head (1) and the cleaning rag connector, are preferably able to be mounted with a single plastic fastener to the base's (2) bottom portion and the security cover (5). This security cover (5) can be made of plastic and has a circular shape. The circular shape of the security cover (5) enables the cleaning rags, around the mop head (1) have equal distances at each point and are fixed with same pressing force. The cavities (8) found on top of the mop head are included preferably by injection-molded production. For example, these cavities decrease the weight of the mop head by at least 0.5 grams.
The mop head (1) can be mounted on to the mop rod by the top perspective view. For example, the connection piece used to secure the mop head to the mop rod can be mounted in both the screw-in and lock-in mop system.
The mop head (1) includes a solid structure and a circular base portion (2) on the mop and the base portion's cylindrical rod connection portion (3). Figure 2 provides the mop head's (1) perspective view from below. To tightly secure the lower base portion (2) of the mop rags from the bottom, shown in Figure 2, a series of protrusions have been constructed.
To secure the mop rags to the mop heads (1), the security cover (5) is mounted with a single plastic fastener on top of the bottom portion of the base (2). This security cover (5) can be made of plastic and has a circular shape. The circular shape of the security cover (5) enables the mop rags, around the mop head (1) have equal distances at each point and are fixed with same pressing force.
Figure 3 shows the top view of the mop head (1), and Figure 4 shows the side view. On said rod attachment portion (3) and along said rod attachment portion (3) are formed two vertical extensions (6) facing each other.
Figure 5 shows the mop head (1) from below and Figure 6 shows the other side view of the mop head. The rod connector portion incorporates vertical extensions (6) between horizontal extensions (7), and the base portion (2) has cavities (8) over the mop head (3). Because of the circular (2) mop head (1) base, the mop rag is evenly spread and the use of the mop becomes easier in every direction. Furthermore, it reduces the weight since rod connection portion (3) of the mop head (1) has a fixed diameter and there are no additional parts.
In one embodiment, the mop head is manufactured through an injection-molding technique, such as with polymeric material like polypropylene.

Claims

CLAIMS What is claims is:
1. A mop head (1) for securing mop rags to the end of a mop rods with either lock- in or screw- in mounting systems comprising a circular base portion (2) made of a vertically fixed diameter along a cylindrical rod connection piece (3), where the mop rod is mounted atop the cleaning rags, and the set of protrusions (4) designted to secure the cleaning rags to the base (2).
2. The mop head of claim 1, further comprising a security cover (5) mounted on the base portion (2) to secure the cleaning rags to the mop head (1).
3. The mop head of claim 1, comprising two parallel vertical extensions (6) along the rod connection portion (3).
4. The mop head of claim 1, comprising a horizontal extensions (7) included on the rod connection portion (3).
5. The mop head of claim 1, comprising cavities (8) made on the base portion (2) of the mop head (1).
