Abstract
A valve assembly (10) includes a valve module (12), a first solenoid (16), and a sensing module (14). The first solenoid moves a valve spool (28) axially within the valve module. The sensing module determines a position of the valve spool within the valve module. A second solenoid (18) or an end cap (52) may plug a distal end of the sensing module. The sensing module includes at least one anisotropic magnetoresistance sensor (40) disposed within a housing (30). At least one magnetic element (39) is operatively coupled to the valve spool (e.g., to a spool extension (35)).
