Abstract

In LTE-A release 11 for measuring coordinated multi-point CoMP resources a CoMP resource management set CRMS and a CoMP measurement set CMS is defined (3GPP TR 36.819). The measurement is based on reference signal receiving power RSRP measurement of channel state information - reference signal CSI- RS resource. The measurement set used in a mobile station may be changed by a command (MAC-CE signalling element) from the base station. Problem: There might be situation where after the change the mobile terminal measures CSI-RS resources which are inactive (SCell). This would lead to a waste of energy in the UE. Solution: The UE stops measuring after the change (adding) and continues only after being commanded to by the base station.

Detailed Description For better comprehension of the spirit of the present invention, a further description is provided in the following with reference to some exemplary embodiments of the present invention.
Protocol 36.819 specifies a plurality of CoMP related sets, which are CCS, CTS, CMS, and CRMS respectively.
Specifically, transmission points in the CCS can directly participate in actual data transmission on time-frequency resources, or participate in user scheduling/beamforming decisions on time-frequency resources as candidate transmission points, thereby indirectly transmitting data. The CTS is a subset of the CCS, and transmission points in the CTS directly transmit data to the user equipment. Moreover, transmission points in the transmission point(s) set have different definitions depending on different types of CoMP implementation solutions. For example, in Joint Transmission (JT), transmission points in the transmission point(s) set may include multiple transmission points in a cooperating set used on each sub-frame of certain time-frequency resources; as for Coordinated Scheduling/Beamforming (CS/CB), Dynamic Point Selection (DPS), and Semi-Static Point Selection (SSPS), a single transmission point in the transmission point(s) set is one transmission point in the cooperating set used on each sub-frame of certain time-frequency resources. The CMS is a set of CSTRS resources for which the user equipment needs to feed back CSI of the established link. For specific definition thereof, reference can be made to Article 5.2.2 of Protocol 36.819. The CRMS is a set of CSI-RS resources, and the user equipment needs to measure and report RSRP of the CSTRS resources.
The base station manages, configures or updates these different CoMP related sets according to different environments and requirements, and how to realize the management, configuration and update with low signaling overhead and power consumption is an urgent problem to be solved during the CoMP development.
The method and apparatus for managing CoMP related sets according to the embodiments of the present invention can solve the above problem.
It should be noted that with the development of the technology and update of the standard, components with the same function generally have different names. The technical terms in the specification of the present invention patent application are used to explain and demonstrate the technical solution of the present invention, and shall be subject to common functions in the technical field rather than being randomly understood merely according to the names thereof.
FIG. 1 is a flow chart of a method for managing CoMP related sets at a terminal side according to an embodiment of the present invention. It should be noted that the sequence in which the steps in this flow chart are described is not necessarily the sequence in practical application, and shall not be construed as a limitation to the present invention. Similarly, this principle also applies to other method steps involved in the present invention.
FIG. 2 is a structural block diagram of an apparatus for managing CoMP related sets at a terminal side, such as a user equipment 20, according to an embodiment of the present invention.
The method for managing CoMP related sets at the side of the user equipment 20 according to an embodiment of the present invention is described in detail below with reference to FIG. 1 and FIG. 2.
In CoMP, the network side, such as a base station, configures different types of sets for the user equipment 20, namely, the CCS, CTS, CMS, and CRMS.
In step 10, means 22 for measuring of the user equipment 20 measures RSRP of a CSI- RS resource in a CRMS. In step 12, means 24 for reporting of the user equipment 20 reports the measured RSRP of the CSI-RS resource to the network side. After receiving the measured RSRP, the network side evaluates the measured RSRP, and if it is determined that the measured RSRP is higher than a predetermined threshold, adds the CSI-RS resource into a CMS and sends related signaling. In an embodiment, the signaling is RRC signaling. Then in step 14, means 26 for receiving of the user equipment 20 receives from the network side the signaling for adding the CSI-RS resource into the CMS. However, in step 16, according to an embodiment of the present invention, even if the CSI-RS resource is added into the CMS, the means 22 for measuring still measures the RSRP of the CSI-RS resource and reports the measured RSRP to the network side. The network side still manages the measurement set on the basis of the RSRP of the CSI-RS resource; once the RSRP of the CSI-RS resource is lower than a preset threshold, or lower than a preset threshold with respect to a reference CSI-RS resource, the CSI-RS resource is removed from the CMS. The reference CSI-RS resource may be specified by the base station or set by the user equipment 20. According to another embodiment of the present invention, the network side manages the measurement set on the basis of CSI of the CSI-RS resource, thereby avoiding unnecessary power consumption and uplink report overhead. That is, after receiving the signaling for adding the CSI-RS resource into the CMS, the means 22 for measuring stops measuring the RSRP of the CSI-RS resource added into the CMS.
Correspondingly, FIG. 3 and FIG. 4 respectively show a method and an apparatus for managing CoMP related sets at a network side according to an embodiment of the present invention. FIG. 3 is a flow chart of a method for managing CoMP related sets at a network side according to another embodiment of the present invention, and FIG. 4 is a structural block diagram of an apparatus for managing CoMP related sets at a network side, such as a base station 40, according to another embodiment of the present invention.
In step 30, means 42 for receiving of the base station 40 receives from means 24 for reporting of a user base station 20 a measurement report about RSRP of a CSI-RS resource in a CRMS, and in step 32, means 44 for determining determines whether to send signaling for adding the CSI-RS resource into a CMS on the basis of the received measurement report. For example, if the means 44 for determining determines that the measured RSRP is higher than a predetermined threshold, the means 44 for determining adds the CSI-RS resource into the CMS and sends related signaling. In step 34, according to an embodiment of the present invention, even if the CSI-RS resource is added into the CMS, the means 42 for receiving still receives from the user equipment 20 the measurement report about the RSRP of the CSI-RS resource. The base station 40 still manages the measurement set on the basis of the RSRP of the CSI-RS resource; once the RSRP of the CSI-RS resource is lower than a preset threshold, or lower than a preset threshold with respect to a reference CSI-RS resource, the CSI-RS resource is removed from the CMS and RRC signaling is sent to notify the user equipment. According to another embodiment of the present invention, after the CSI-RS resource is added into the CMS, the means 42 for receiving stops receiving the measurement report about the RSRP of the CSI-RS resource. The base station 40 manages the CMS on the basis of CSI of the CSI-RS resource, so as to avoid unnecessary power consumption and unlink report overhead.
According to different embodiments of the present invention, measurement on the RSRP of the CSI-RS resource may be stopped by the user equipment when being instructed by RRC signaling sent by the network side, or stopped by the user equipment 20 automatically. Specifically, according to an embodiment of the present invention, the RRC signaling sent by the base station 40 for adding the CSI-RS resource into the CMS includes an indication of whether to remove the CSI-RS resource from the CRMS. For example, if the indication value is set to 0, it instructs removing the CSI-RS resource from the CRMS, and the user equipment 20 stops measuring and reporting the RSRP of the CSI-RS resource; if the indication value is set to 1, it instructs reserving the CSI-RS resource in the CRMS, and the user equipment 20 continues measuring and reporting the RSRP of the CSI-RS resource. According to another embodiment of the present invention, the user equipment 20 is free from the control of the base station 40, and automatically stops measuring the RSRP of the CSI-RS resource. After receiving the RRC signaling for adding the CSI-RS resource into the CMS, the user equipment 20 further checks whether the CSI-RS resource belongs to the CRMS. For a CSI-RS resource from the CRMS and added into the CMS, in the case where a reference CSI-RS resource is set, the user equipment 20 further checks whether the CSI-RS resource is the reference CSI-RS resource. If the CSI-RS resource is the reference CSI-RS resource, the user equipment 20 may choose to not stop measuring the RSRP of the CSI-RS resource, or not stop measuring RSRP of the CSI-RS resource until a new reference CSI-RS resource is set.
In addition, with further development of the CoMP technology, Scell-based CoMP is made possible. Scells are Pico cells in scenario 3 of CoMP explained from the perspective of Carrier Aggregation (CA). In the case of CA, Macro cells in scenario 3 of CoMP are primary cells (Pcells), and Pico cells are Scells. Scells in the resource management set may be activated or inactivated, while currently, only measurement on CSI of activated Scells is supported; if the CSI-RS resource to be added to the CMS belongs to an inactivated subordinate cell, how to measure and feed back CSI are problems that must be solved. One solution is to wait for the base station side to send MAC-CE signaling to activate the Scell, but due to the non-real-time characteristic of the MAC-CE signaling, CSI feedback of the user equipment 20 is doomed to be delayed, which further affects the scheduling process of the base station 40. According to an embodiment of the present invention, the base station 40 does not need to send the MAC-CE signaling; after receiving from the base station 40 the RRC signaling for adding the CSI-RS resource that belongs to the inactivated Scell into the CMS, the user equipment 20 immediately measures the CSI-RS resource regardless of whether the Scell is activated.
In another aspect, as various CoMP related sets change in a dynamic or semi- static way, the base station 40 needs to notify the corresponding user equipment 2. To enable the user equipment 20 to correctly distinguish each CSI-RS resource or transmission point in the related sets, when the CSI-RS resource from the CRMS is added into the CMS, the base station 40 allocates a new identifier to the CSI-RS resource; in an embodiment, the identifier is different from the identifier of the CSI-RS resource in the CRMS. In this way, the user equipment 20 can learn clearly whether the CSI-RS resource newly added into the CMS is from the CRMS. By setting the new identifier, the RRC signaling can be used to identify the CSI-RS resource removed from the CMS, so as to save signaling overhead. In another aspect, the identifier also distinguishes a dynamically selected transmission point on the basis of a carrier indication domain of a Physical Downlink Control Channel (PDCCH) in each Transmission Time Interval (TTI). Besides, the identifier can also be used for managing the CCS and CTS, and adding a transmission point into or removing a transmission point from the CCS and CTS.
During the management of the CCS and CTS, use of the PDCCH or MAC-CE signaling is determined by an update frequency of these sets. According to an embodiment of the present invention, if the CCS and/or CTS changes in each TTI, the PDCCH may be used to identify content of transmission points in the CCS and/or CTS, and the PDCCH needs a plurality of carrier indication domains to carry all information configured for the CCS and/or CTS of the user equipment 20. Each carrier indication domain instructs one identifier of the CSTRS resource in the CRMS. According to another embodiment of the present invention, the CCS and/or CTS does not change in each TTI, but changes in a semi- static manner. At this time, MAC-CE signaling can be used to manage the CCS and CTS. When the user equipment 20 receives the MAC-CE signaling, the CCS and CTS do not change until next MAC-CE signaling is received, where the MAC-CE signaling may be in the form of a bit map or may be a MAC-CE including a specific identifier. At this time, the base station 40 may further include means 46 for sending a MAC-CE, so as to configure CCS/CMS. When a bit map is used, each bit represents one transmission point, or is based on CMS identifier index information or CMS identifier index sequence information. Correspondingly, the user equipment 20 further includes means 28 for receiving the MAC-CE.
The method and the apparatus for managing CoMP related sets of the present invention solve a series of problems such as managing, configuring and updating the CoMP related sets, and facilitate further promotion and application of the CoMP.
The technical content and technical features of the present invention are disclosed above, and persons skilled in the art may still make various replacements and modifications without departing from the spirit of the present invention on the basis of the teaching and disclosure of the present invention. Hence, the protection scope of the present invention shall not be limited to the content disclosed by the embodiments, but shall cover all replacements and modifications not departing from the present invention and shall subject to the claims of the present patent application.
