Abstract
The invention relates to a canned electric machine (1) comprising at least one rotor (4), at least one stator (5) comprising electric windings (6) and flux guiding structures such as laminated iron sheets or core portions (7, 8) conducting magnetic flux from the rotor (4) to the stator via at least one air-gap (12). A can (9) separating said electrical machine (1) into two compartments (10, 11), thereby the can (9) is placed away from the air-gap (12). The invention also relates to such a canned electrical machine as a part of a compressor, turbine, pump, decanter or expander. Especially when used for an ammonia compressor, the electric wiring are separated from and protected from such a corrosive environment and the can and the electric machine as a whole are constructed to resist pressure variations.
