Abstract
The invention relates to a piston (10; 10a) for an internal combustion engine, having a first piston part (11; 11a) which has a piston head (16) and a second piston part (12; 12a) which is connected to the first piston part (11; 11a). It is provided according to the invention that the piston head (16) is arranged in the first piston part (11; 11a) in the region of a recess (14) which has an undercut, and that the two piston parts (11; 11a, 12; 12a) are connected to one another in a horizontal dividing plane (17) which is arranged at least partially at the level of the recess (14) in relation to a longitudinal axis (13).
