Abstract
The invention relates to a method for operating an electric rail vehicle which is connected to a DC power network with a power choke whose winding is connected by its input to the DC power network and by its output to the railway power inverter of the rail vehicle. In order to be able to carry out the method in a particularly energy-efficient and cost-efficient fashion, in each case such a compensation DC current at that particular time is fed in to at least one further winding of the power choke from an energy source of the actual rail vehicle such that the DC component of the flooding of the iron core of the power choke at that particular time becomes minimal. The invention also relates to an electric rail vehicle which is connected to a DC power network.
