Abstract
The invention relates to a method for operating an internal combustion engine (2) which has an exhaust gas cleaning device (3), wherein an adjustment variable for the composition of a fuel-air mixture present for combustion in the internal combustion engine (2) is controlled with the aid of a combustion air ratio determined from the lambda signal of a lambda sensor (7). In the method, in order to avoid control oscillations, the combustion air ratio is recreated with the lambda signal and a time offset, wherein the time offset is determined by a cross-correlation between the lambda signal of the lambda sensor (7) and the adjustment variable. The invention further relates to an internal combustion engine (2) with an exhaust gas cleaning device (3).
