Abstract

The present provides a system and a process for Differentiated Data Connectivity comprising a Communication device configured with a unique Access identifier, an Access network with a configurable Network Gateway, an Authentication authorization and accounting (AAA) server connected to a database server,a remote server connected with the communication device by a differentiated data connection, the said remote server also connected to the Access Authentication and Accounting network comprising a Access accounting and authentication server (AAA), a database server and Administration server, the said remote server connected to AAA network and the private network.

I Claim
Amended Claim (1)
An apparatus for providing differentiated wireless connectivity comprising a communication device (1 ), an access network (3) having a configurable access point, an Authentication authorization and accounting (AAA) server (6), a database server (7), a remote gateway (5), administration server(s) (8) wherein the access network (3) transmitting and receiving data to enable connection of users within the network with the Remote gateway (5), the said access network serving multiple users within a network; the AAA server (6) being connected to a database server (7), a Remote Gateway (5) is connected with the Communication device (1 ) by a differentiated data connection (2) and Access network (3) through a wireless Internet Protocol (IP) network (4), the said Remote gateway (5) also being connected to the AAA server (6), a database server (7), administrative server (8) and service providers network system (9).
Amended Claim (2)
An apparatus for providing differentiated wireless connectivity as claimed in claim (1 ) wherein the application software loaded on the Communication device (1 ) has access settings enabling true two-way communication; and the differentiated connectivity is initiated either by the communication device (1) by launching the loaded application software or by the Remote gateway (5) ) that activates the application software using triggers exemplified by a page or command or a call
Amended Claim (3)
An apparatus as claimed in claim 1 wherein, the remote gateway (5) is selected from means exemplified by a firewall, a server, a web portal, a router, a proxy server connecting to a cloud, a Virtual Private Network (VPN), a content platform, a service platform, a server farm, Intranet or a banking service.
Amended Claim (4)
An apparatus as claimed in claim 1 wherein, the said AAA server (6) is connected to the said remote gateway (5) through a communication network; maintaining user-wise logs of the data sessions and the data usage, which is used for calculating data charges; wherein the softv/are configured on the AAA server (6) also ensures that the differentiated connection is provided to the communication device (1 ) as per the service agreements with the user as well as the cellular operator. An apparatus to provide differentiated wireless connectivity as claimed in claim 1 wherein; in operation the communication device (1 ) of the subscribed user is directed to the Remote gateway (5), which in turn connects it to another system wherein the said Remote gateway (5) uses a virtual private network (VPN) for establishing secured data connectivity with the various authentication servers located with separate network carriers.

An apparatus for providing differentiated wireless connectivity as claimed in claim 1 wherein the said communications device (1 ) is selected from means exemplified by a handheld mobile device, a personal digital assistant (PDA), tablet PC, laptop using a wireless data connection.
Amended Claim (7)
An apparatus for providing differentiated wireless connectivity as claimed in claim 1 wherein the wireless network means exemplified by a Global System for Mobile (GSM), a Code Division Multiple Access (CDMA), a Long Term Evolution (LTE) or a Worldwide
Interoperability for Microwave Access (WiMAX).
Amended Claim (8)
An apparatus for providing differentiated wireless connectivity as claimed in claim 1 wherein the Access Network (3) comprises of (a) Base Transceiver Station (BTS), Base Station Controller (BSC), Mobile Switching Centre (MSC), Serving GPRS Support Node (SGSN), Gateway GPRS Support Node (GGSN) in case of GSM/ GPRS or (b) Hot Spots (Access Points), Base Station (BS), Cable network (DSL) in case of WiFi / WiMax.
Amended Claim (9)
A system for providing differentiated wireless connectivity using the apparatus as claimed in claims (1 ) to (8) wherein the said system comprises of:
a) the application software loaded on the communication device (1 ) using the uniquely configured access settings connecting to the Access point of the Access network (3), which has a unique identity,
b) routing the request for differentiated data connection (2) to the AAA server (6) by the designated Access point of the Access Network (3),
29 c) authenticating the communication device (1 ) by the AAA server (6) with the authentication related user data stored in the Database server (7) ,
d) the AAA server (6) after successful authentication of the communication
device (1 ) granting the mobile device access to the Differentiated connection (2) with the Remote gateway (5),
e) activating the billing register program by AAA server (6) after establishing the differentiated wireless connection (2),
f) application software loaded on the communication device(1 ) directly interacts with the remote gateway. (5) facilitating bi-directional data transactions, g) maintaining individual logs of data usage for every user by the AAA server (6) for billing and administrative purpose.
Amended Claim (10)
A system for providing differentiated wireless connectivity as claimed in claim 9 wherein the authorization takes place by enabling communication ports of the network system and establishing differentiated wireless network (2) that provides differentiated data access to Web services, privileged services and databases.
Amended Claim (11)
A system for providing differentiated wireless connectivity as claimed in claim 9 wherein database server (7) maintains the database of the users affiliated to a particular carrier or geographical location wherein the said server stores all the necessary information of the user that enables the system to validate the authenticity and data logs of the user.
Amended Claim ( 2)
A system for providing differentiated wireless connectivity as claimed in claims 9-11 wherein the administration servers (8) are exemplified by the advertising servers, the exchange servers or combinations thereof.
Amended Claim (13)
A system for providing differentiated wireless connectivity as claimed in claims 9-12 wherein differentiated connection is an independent data connection offered to a communication device (1 ) for exclusively accessing differentiated data.

A system for providing differentiated wireless connectivity as claimed in claims 9 to 13 wherein the differentiated connectivity is enabled by a data connection provided by the carrier service to connect the user to the Remote Gateway (5) server of a private service provider (9).
Amended Claim (15)
A system for providing differentiated wireless connectivity as claimed in claims 9 to 14 wherein the apparatus claimed in claim (1 ) serves as a computing platform for offering Value Added Mobile Service (VAS) exemplified by Voice Over Internet Protocol (VOIP) and downloading services.
Amended Claim (16)
A system for providing differentiated wireless connectivity as claimed in claims 9 to 15 wherein the said system providing enhanced quality of service (QoS) and other value added services exemplified by VOIP and downloading services.
Amended Claim (17)
A system for providing differentiated wireless connectivity as claimed in claims 9 to 16 wherein the communication device (1 ) is configured with a tailored dedicated application software compatible with all the Operating Systems (OS) exemplified by Symbian, Windows, Black Berry, Android or any other OS that has the functionality for uploading similar application softwares; wherein the said application software either creates unique log in details for every user or creates a unique id for every user by using unique details of subscriber/communication device means exemplified by, a mobile number or a phone IMEI number to install unique access settings on the handset.
Amended Claim (18)
A system for providing differentiated wireless connectivity as claimed in claim (9) to (17) wherein the communication device (1) uses the configured network identifier, which is also a designated Access point of the Access Network (3) to communicate with the wireless network (4) wherein the network identifier helps the wireless carrier to identify the network offering differentiated data connection, and defines the type of service provided by the network offering the differentiated data connection wherein the network identifier establishes differentiated data connectivity with the Remote gateway (5) through a designated Access point of the Access network (3), which has a unique Access identity; wherein the Access point is configured on either a public or a private network and is directly connected to the
31 AAA server (6) for performing the authentication before initiating the differentiated connection , the said designated Access point of the Access network (3) is also a private Access gateway assigned specifically to the Private Service provider offering differentiated data connection, the said AAA server (6) arid the Database server (7) is optionally located outside the Access network (3) along with the Remote gateway (5) and performs
authentication for differentiated data connectivity after the communication device (1 ) has communicated with the remote gateway (5) for establishing the differentiated data connection.
Amended Claim (19)
A system for providing differentiated wireless connectivity as claimed in claims (9) to (19) wherein the mobile, carrier provides differentiated wireless data connectivity (2) by assigning private Internet Protocol (IP) to the Subscriber Identity Module (SIM) loaded on the communication device wherein the private IP of the SIM becomes the private IP of the communication device and is used to establish the differentiated connection (2).
Amended Claim (20)
A system for providing differentiated wireless data connectivity as claimed in claims 9 to 20 wherein the customer or user uses a single or multiple application software that is uploaded on the respective communication device to connect to the remote gateway (5), wherein the application software are programmed for initiating and maintaining the differentiated wireless connectivity with the Remote gateway (5).
Amended Claim (21)
A system for providing differentiated wireless data connectivity as claimed in claim (9) wherein process of initiation of differentiated data connection comprises steps of:
a) Using the said unique access settings (log in details) for connecting with the AAA server (6) wherein; the users have an existing wireless data connection, the said application first closes the existing wireless data connection and then uses/ activates the said unique access settings for connecting to the AAA server (6),
b) The unique access setting enables the user to connect through wireless
network (4) using the identification protocols assigned by the private service provider that enables controlling the data transfer and other related issue; It is to be noted that the Unique Access settings of the present invention is a computer protocol that allows a user's communication device (1 ) to access the data services provided by the Remote gateway (5) using the wireless
32 network (4). It is a configurable network identifier used by a mobile device when connecting to a wireless network (4). The carrier examines this identifier to determine what type of network connection should be created, for example: what IP addresses should be contacted, what security methods should be used, and how or if, it should be connected to some private customer network. More specifically, the unique access settings of the present invention helps in identifying an IP Packet Data Network (PDN) that a user wants to communicate with. In one of the embodiments, the said unique access setting is used to define the type of service that is provided by the PDN.
Amended Claim (22)
A system for providing differentiated wireless connectivity as claimed in claim , 9 and 21 wherein the process of setting up a Differentiated connection (2) set up by a Remote gateway (5), which comprises steps of:
> The said Remote gateway (5) sending a page/call or communicates a command, which is pre-programmed in the application software of the communication device (1 );
> The application software storing preprogrammed commands and numbers that activates the application if it is in a dormant state;
> The mobile application software agent loaded on the communication device (1 ) recognizes the destination/ command, and triggers the activation of the application;
> The application then uses the unique access settings for connecting with the server
> In case of users with an existing wireless connection, the application first closes the existing wireless connection and then uses the unique access settings for connecting to the AAA server (6) and subsequently the Remote gateway (5)
The access settings enables the user to connect through wireless network (4) using the unique address systems and the protocols assigned (this will help in controlling the data transfer and other related issue)
> Upon establishment of the differentiated data connection, the application
downloads the stored data or connects to the on-hold service, which can also be a VOIP call meant for the user and updates the user about the same.
Amended Claim (23)
33 A system for providing differentiated wireless connectivity as claimed in claims, 9 to 23) wherein the said unique access settings is used to define the type of service that is provided by the PDN.
Amended Claim (24)
A system for providing differentiated wireless connectivity as claimed in claims 9 to 23 wherein; the said Remote gateway (5) is a node selected from a computer, system or application that connects to another system exemplified by a portal, a proxy server that connects to another system, a firewall of another system, a server farm, a service provider offering services like gaming, financial services, trading as well as VPN system;, wherein in operation the user connects to the remote gateway (5), which in turn facilitates data connectivity to other systems.
Amended Claim (25)
A system for providing differentiated wireless connectivity (2) as claimed in claims 1 ,9,14,15 and 16 wherein; the said apparatus and system enable a single communication device (1 ) having a single mobile SIM to maintain two or plurality of data access setting, one of them being a default data connection provided by the carrier service and the another for the differentiated wireless connection (2) connecting the communication device (1 ) to the gateway server for offering privileged data services including premium data charges, subsidized data charges or exclusive online services.
Amended Claim (26)
A system for providing differentiated wireless connectivity as claimed in claims 1, 9, 13, 14, 15, 16 and 25 wherein the apparatus and methods enable the carrier service to provide two plurality of separate data connections to a communication device (1 ) using a single SIM, the said differentiated wireless connectivity (2) is also a connection provided by the carrier service to connect the user to Remote gateway (5) offering privileged services including premium data charges, subsidized data charges or exclusive online services.
Amended Claim (27)
A system for providing differentiated wireless connectivity as claimed in claim 9 wherein the said access network (3) connects users to other users within the network and also serve as the point of interconnection between the wireless network and a fixed wire network; wherein each access network serves multiple users within a network area; as people move beyond the range of one access network, they are handed over to the next one as per the
34 applicable system; the said remote gateway (5) acts a point of interconnection between the users or communication devices (1 ) belonging to different networks areas.
Amended Claim (28)
A system for providing differentiated wireless connectivity as claimed in claims 9 to 27 wherein; authentication is used as the basis for authorization (determining whether a privilege will be granted to a particular user or process), privacy (keeping information from becoming known to non-participants), and non-repudiation (not being able to deny having done something that was authorized to be done based on the authentication).
Amended Claim (29)
A system for providing differentiated wireless connectivity as claimed in claim 9 wherein the said Authentication server (AAA) (6) has a static IP address and database, which maintains information of all the communication devices belonging to the particular user group; the authentication server is connected to the Remote gateway (5) server through a VPN connection, which ensures a secure IP tunnel for every session wherein the AAA server (6) maintains the user-wise details of the data sessions and the billing details, it ensures that the differentiated connection is provided to the communication device (1) as per the service agreements.
Amended Claim (30)
A system for providing differentiated wireless connectivity as claimed in claims 9 to 29 wherein the authentication server (AAA) (6) operates in steps of:
receiving request from the communication device (1 )
> matching the user information with the database information;
> authorizing differentiated connection to the user's communication device
(1);
connecting with the Remote gateway (5) for availing the Differentiated data connection (2);
> activating the appropriate billing register for respective user;
closing the differentiated connection (2) with the Remote gateway (5) upon completion of the data session;
> calculating and keeping log of the usage charges.

35 A system for providing differentiated wireless connectivity as claimed in claims 9 to 29 wherein Remote gateway (5) and the AAA server (6) is located along the Access network (3), wherein the Remote gateway (5) is connected to another system and has exchange server/s, database server/s as well as advertising server/s

A system as claimed in claims 9 to 31for providing differentiated wireless connectivity (2) to a communication device (1 ) with a Remote gateway (5), wherein the invention offers apparatus and system to provide Differentiated data connection (2) offering charges for free or subsidized data, enhanced QoS (Quality of Service) or combination of both; wherein the system enables the private service provider (9) to control and monitor the differentiated data connection (2).
