Description

CASE FOR MOBILE TELECOMMUNICATION TERMINAL ABLE TO PROJECT HOLOGRAPHIC IMAGES
Field of the invention
The present invention relates in general to mobile telecommunication terminals, in particular to cellular phones of the smartphone type and to the so- called "tablets", and regards specifically cases or covers for such apparatuses.
Prior art
From CN-201984772Ua cabinet is known designed to accommodate a multimedia apparatus (personal computer, tablet, mobile phone) and configured to display three- dimensional images.
Summary of the invention
The object of the invention is to provide a case that, in addition to the typical function of protection, is configured so as to obtain new and peculiar effects, specifically of an optical type, during operation of the terminal associated thereto.
According to the invention, the above object is achieved thanks to the fact that the case comprises a base for housing the telecommunication terminal, with the corresponding screen facing outwards of the base, and an appendage, which is connected to the base in a displaceable way between a closing position and an opening position of the case and includes a projector of holographic images displayed in use on the screen of the telecommunication terminal housed in the base.
The projector of holographic images consists, according to the invention, of a semitransparent plate articulated to one side of the base and having an internal mirror surface, which, in a position of partial opening of the lid, sets itself in a condition inclined by 45° above the base.
Thanks to this arrangement, the holographic images obtained with techniques in themselves known, transmitted to or stored by the mobile terminal and displayed on the corresponding screen, are projected and made visible in space through the lid of the case, with surprising effects.
According to another aspect of the invention, the appendage of the case may moreover incorporate an optical device for viewing stereoscopic images projected in use by the screen of the telecommunication terminal housed in the base. The aforesaid optical device may consist of an anaglyph viewer or possibly also of different optical systems, for example of the polarized-lens type or stereoscopic-binocular type and the like, and enables original effects of three- dimensional viewing of stereoscopic images to be achieved, also obtained with conventional technologies, transmitted to or stored by the telecommunication terminal .
In a preferred embodiment of the invention, the anaglyph viewer is carried by a second plate articulated to the side of the plate of the projector of holographic images opposite to the base. This second plate is displaceable between a closed position, in which it is folded against the plate of the projector of holographic images, and an open position, in which, when the plate of the projector of holographic images is in the aforesaid position of partial opening, the second plate is set parallel to the base.
For positioning and support of the semitransparent plate in the position of partial opening in a condition inclined by 45° above the base, as well as of the second plate in the open position parallel to the base, the appendage of the case moreover conveniently includes a pair of resting flaps connected to the ends of the second plate and displaceable between a folded position and a splayed- out position.
The appendage of the case can form a lid that can be set on the base, or else a substrate that can be folded underneath the base.
Brief description of the drawings
The invention will now be described in detail with reference to the annexed drawings, which are provided purely by way of non-limiting example and in which :
- Figure 1 is a schematic perspective view of a case for mobile telecommunication terminals according to the invention, represented in a closed configuration ;
- Figures 2 and 3 are two perspective views that show the case during two successive steps of opening of the corresponding lid;
- Figure 4 is a schematic perspective view that shows the case, with the lid in a final configuration of partial opening; and
- Figure 5 is a schematic perspective view of a case for mobile telecommunication terminals according to a variant of the invention, represented from a) to d) in the various steps of opening/reclosing.
Detailed description of the invention
In the example of embodiment illustrated in Figures 1 to 4, the case according to the invention, designated as a whole by 1, is expressly designed to contain a cellular phone of the smartphone type, for example an iPhone® or the like designated as a whole by P in the drawings. It should, however, be noted that the dimensions, shape, styling, materials and consistency of the case may differ considerably from the ones illustrated according to the requirements of application to any mobile telecommunication terminal, including the so-called "tablets", as well as possibly personal computers of the laptop type.
To return to the example illustrated, the case 1 essentially comprises a base 2 defining a receptacle 3 for housing the cellular phone P with the corresponding screen facing towards the outside of the base, i.e. upwards, and an appendage forming a lid designated as a whole by 4 and connected to the base 2 in an openable and reclosable way, as illustrated in the drawings and having the characteristics described hereinafter.
The lid 4 comprises a first plate 5, which has one side articulated to the base 2 and the opposite side articulated to a second plate 6, the opposite ends of which are articulated to two opposed flaps 7.
The plate 5 bears a projector of holographic images constituted by a semitransparent plate or viewer 8 having an internal mirror surface 8a (Figures 3 and 4) and a transparent outer surface 8b (Figure 2) .
The second plate 6 bears an optical device for viewing stereoscopic images, which, in the case of the example illustrated, is formed by an anaglyph viewer constituted in a way in itself known by a pair of transparent filters 9 of different colours, typically one red and the other green. It should be noted that the anaglyph viewer 9 could be replaced by any equivalent device for viewing stereoscopic images that can be applied to the plate 6, for example by polarized lenses, by a stereoscopic binocular, etc.
The entire lid 4 can be splayed out, starting from the closed configuration of the case 1 represented in Figure 1 and through the successive steps illustrated in Figures 2 and 3, until it is set in the final configuration of partial opening represented in Figure 4. In the aforesaid configuration, the plate 5 with the projector of holographic images 8 is set in a condition inclined by 45° above the base, and hence above the terminal P housed therein, whereas the second plate 6 with the anaglyph viewer 9 is set parallel to the base 2. Stable positioning of the plates 5 and 6 in the positions described is guaranteed by the support on a resting base of the case 1 provided by the two flaps 7, rotated from the folded position of Figure 2 to the splayed-out position of Figure 4, where they are set perpendicular to the second plate 6, alongside the base 2.
In this configuration, the case 1 according to the invention performs a dual function: via the semitransparent plate 8 real or simulated holographic images transmitted to or stored (for instance by means of the application named "Hologram Projector") by the mobile terminal P and displayed on the corresponding screen will be projected by the mirror surface 8a in space above the base 2, with peculiar and surprising optical effects. The stereoscopic images, which are also transmitted to or stored by the mobile terminal P and displayed by the corresponding screen, will then be visible with an equally peculiar three-dimensional effect through the semitransparent plate 8 and the anaglyph viewer 9.
Obviously, the lid 4 can be completely opened to enable introduction and extraction of the telecommunication terminal P into/out of the receptacle 3. Moreover, the base 2 could be prearranged to enable introduction and extraction of the telecommunication terminal P laterally instead of frontally as in the case of the example illustrated.
The variant represented in Figures 5a) -d) differs from the embodiment described previously only in that the appendage 4, instead of constituting the lid of the case 1, in its closing position is folded underneath the base 2 and forms a substrate in the way represented in Figure 5a) so that the screen of the telecommunication terminal P remains constantly visible from outside. There may be provided retention systems, for example magnetic ones, ones of the microhook type, and the like to withhold the substrate 4 in the closing position .
Of course, the details of construction and the embodiments may vary widely with respect to what is described and illustrated herein, without thereby departing from the scope of the present invention as defined in the ensuing claims.
