Description
VETERINARY MEDICAL TABLE
TECHNICAL FIELD OF THE INVENTION
This invention relates generally to a veterinary table but more particularly to a veterinary medical table. BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION
Veterinary tables as used herein are used to support dogs, cats, pigs and other animals during hygienic activity, medical examination or surgery. It is desirable to provide a veterinary table that would accommodate different types and sizes of animals in a single table design without any expensive and complex way of adjusting the height of the table or tilting.
Various tables are known which disclosed methods of inclining tables, and these include racks which support the surface when it is manually raised, as shown in U.S. Pat. No. 673,675. U.S. Pat. No. 3,520,529 to Obel uses large power driven hydraulic cylinders to lift the surface on which horses or other large domestic animals are supported. Another device is shown in U.S. Pat. No. 3,615,088 wherein an inclinable surface is maintained in position by the use of clamps engaged with rods which support the top of the table in an inclined orientation.
While maintaining the veterinary table top in an inclined orientation, these mechanisms have been either physically taxing on the veterinarian or expensive to construct. Further, when the veterinary table is longitudinally bifurcated, collection of the fluid and cleaning of the table tops have presented a problem.
SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION
There has thus developed a need for a veterinary medical table which is inexpensive to construct but aids the veterinarian in medical or surgical procedure by accommodating animals of different size and weight. There has developed a similar need for table tops which can accommodate sedated or unsedated animals without the need for tilting the table or adjusting its height. There has also developed a need for a veterinary medical table which can be readily cleaned and from which fluids can be easily collected. Within the context of these needs, there needs to remain a
simplicity of design, preferably with a minimum of supporting structure to make movement around the table easy, to facilitate cleaning, killing microorganisms and to provide economy of construction.
The present invention is a veterinary medical table which comprises a table platform having plurality of legs and being defined by front portion, middle portion and rear portion and being provided with a pair of elongated identical slits spacedly disposed in parallel position from said rear portion to said middle portion, a pair of pipe rails fixedly disposed respectively to said pair of identical slits wherein said pipe rails being defined by a rear end and a middle end, and wherein the width of said pipe rails being smaller than the width of said slits thereby defining a canal for discharge of animal wastes, a first clamping plate transversely pivoting at the middle end of said pipe rails, a second clamping plate spacedly opposing said first clamping plate and being slidably secured to said pipe rails configured to slide back and forth towards said first clamping plate during clamping of animal's body and wherein said second clamping plate being pivotably actuated outwardly from said first clamping plate by a pair of guiding rods disposed at the back of said second clamping plate, a plurality of spaced-apart dowel rods removably secured to said table platform and being located on opposing sides of said first clamping arm and second clamping arm wherein one of said dowel rods being substantially elongated and provided on top with an opposing hooks intended to hold a dextrose container, an ultraviolet lamp being secured to said table platform and being located proximately above said table platform configured to induce ultraviolet radiation thereto thereby killing microorganisms in the air, and a slanted waste catcher being secured underneath said table platform configured to catch animal waste being discharge from said canal.
