Description

WATERPROOF CASE FOR HAND-HELD TERMINAL UNIT
This application claims the benefit of Korean Patent Application No. 10-2012-0027250, filed on March 16, 2012, in the Korean Intellectual Property Office, the disclosure of which is incorporated herein in its entirety by reference.
The present invention relates to a waterproof case for a hand-held terminal unit, and more particularly, to a waterproof case for a hand-held terminal unit, the waterproof case having an improved structure corresponding to the shape of a hand-held terminal unit for being detachably attached to the front and rear of the hand-held terminal unit for sealing the hand-held terminal unit while allowing the use of various functions of the hand-held terminal unit such as a camera function.
Generally, when playing or swimming in the water, we cant carry products that are not waterproofed although the products are likely lost or stolen if placed anywhere.
Thus, waterproof bags have been introduced so that people can carry items such as wallets and hand-held terminal units when they play or swim in the water.
Most of waterproof bags are made of vinyl and designed to accommodate various items.
For example, a waterproof bag disclosed in Korean Utility Model Application No.: 20-1989-013379 includes a main part formed of vinyl and an air injection valve formed at a lower side of the main part to inject air therethrough.
A relatively longer cylindrical rod support is bonded to an upper inlet of the main part of the disclosed waterproof bag, and a holder is separately provided so that the inlet of the disclosed waterproof bag can be closed by rolling the inlet around the cylindrical rod support and holding the rolled inlet with the holder. A grip is provided on the holder.
Since the inlet of the disclosed waterproof bag is firmly held by the holder, the inlet can be hermetically closed. Thus, although the outside of the disclosed waterproof bag is wet by rain or moisture, the inside of the disclosed waterproof bag can be completely waterproofed.
As described above, the disclosed waterproof bag is formed of vinyl and can be waterproofed using the holder.
However, since the main part of the disclosed waterproof bag is formed of vinyl, the main part may easily be damaged by sharp edges.
In addition, it is difficult to play or swim in the water with the disclosed waterproof bag. Furthermore, since a user carries the disclosed waterproof bag by holding the grip with his hand, the user may not use his hand freely.
Therefore, when playing or swimming in the water, a user may put the disclosed waterproof bag outside of the water. This goes against the purpose of waterproof bags. Thus, a waterproof bag that can be put in a pocket of a swimming suit is necessary to carry the waterproof bag in the water.
Many of recent hand-held terminal units are smart phones having touch screens, and accordingly, hand-held terminal unit cases having opened front sides are necessary.
In the case where a hand-held terminal unit is placed in a conventional waterproof bag, various function buttons of the hand-held terminal unit such as a camera button and a power button cannot be used, and it is difficult to check the hand-held terminal unit if the waterproof bag is opaque.
The present invention provides a waterproof case for a hand-held terminal unit, the waterproof case having a structure corresponding to the shape of the hand-held terminal unit for being detachably attached to the hand-held terminal unit and brought into tight contact with the hand-held terminal unit for sealing the hand-held terminal unit, the waterproof case including a transparent film member corresponding to the entire front side of the hand-held terminal unit for convenient use of the hand-held terminal unit.
The present invention also provides a waterproof case for a hand-held terminal unit, the waterproof case having an improved structure so that various functions such as a camera function of the hand-held terminal unit accommodated in the waterproof case can be conveniently used.
According to an aspect of the present invention, there is provided a waterproof case for a hand-held terminal unit, the waterproof case including:
a rear cover including a recess for accommodating a rear part of a hand-held terminal unit and a first transparent window formed at a position corresponding to a camera of the hand-held terminal unit;
a front cover including a second transparent window in a front side thereof, a lower part of the front cover is fitted in a top part of the rear cover using an attaching part such that the front cover covers the top part of the rear cover; and
first and second film members fixed to the first and second transparent windows using first and second coupling parts.
The rear cover and the front cover respectively include accommodation recesses formed in inner surfaces thereof so as to accommodate a function button of the hand-held terminal unit.
The attaching part includes a fitting groove formed in an upper edge portion of the rear cover, a fitting protrusion corresponding to the fitting groove is formed on the lower part of the front cover, and the front cover is press-fitted into the fitting groove.
The first coupling part includes a stepped stop jaw formed on an edge portion of the first transparent window, and an edge portion of the first film member is fixed to the stop jaw by fusing.
The second coupling part includes a stepped fixing jaw extending inward from an edge portion of the second transparent window, and an edge portion of the second film member is integrated on one side of the fixing jaw by fusing.
As described above, the waterproof case of the present invention provides benefits such as the followings. A hand-held terminal unit can be waterproofed by coupling the front and rear covers 200 and 100 to enclose the outside of the hand-held terminal unit, and if the hand-held terminal unit is a smart phone, various functions of the smart phone such as a camera function can be used owing to the first and second transparent windows 105 and 205 to which the first and second film members 310 and 320 are coupled.
First, since the front and rear covers can be coupled to a hand-held terminal unit in a manner such that the front and rear covers make tight contact with the hand-held terminal unit for sealing the hand-held terminal unit, the hand-held terminal unit can be waterproofed and easily carried.
Secondly, in the case of a smart phone having a touch screen, various functions of the smart phone such as a camera function can be used through the first and second transparent windows to which the first and second film members are coupled, so that users can use hand-held terminal units more conveniently.
The above and other features and advantages of the present invention will become more apparent by describing in detail exemplary embodiments thereof with reference to the attached drawings in which:
Fig. 1 is an exploded perspective view illustrating a waterproof case for a hand-held terminal unit according to the present invention.
Fig. 2 is a view illustrating an assembled of the waterproof case of FIG. 1.
Fig. 3 is a cross-sectional view taken along line A-A of Fig. 2.
Fig. 4 is an enlarged view illustrating Portion C of Fig. 3.
Fig. 5 is an enlarged view illustrating Portion D of Fig. 3.
Fig. 6 is a cross-sectional view taken along line B-B of Fig. 2.
The present invention relates to a waterproof case for a hand-held terminal unit, the waterproof case having an improved structure corresponding to the shape of the hand-held terminal unit for being detachably attached to the front and rear of the hand-held terminal unit for sealing the hand-held terminal unit while allowing the use of various functions of the hand-held terminal unit such as a camera function.
Hereinafter, exemplary embodiments of the present invention will be described in more detail with reference to the accompanying drawings.
Referring to Figs. 1 to 6, a waterproof case of the present invention may be used for a hand-held terminal unit such as a cellular phone or a tablet PC.
The waterproof case includes a front cover 200, a rear cover 100, and an attaching part. The front cover 200 and the rear cover 100 are used to enclose the front and rear of a hand-held terminal unit 10, and the attaching part is used to detachably couple the front cover 200 and the rear cover 100.
In detail, the rear cover 100 includes: a recess 110 to receive the rear of the hand-held terminal unit 10; and a first transparent window 105 at a position corresponding to the position of a camera (not shown) of the hand-held terminal unit 10.
The front cover 200 includes a second transparent window 205 as a front opening, and the lower part of the front cover 200 is coupled to the rear cover 100 by the attaching part in a manner such that the lower part of the front cover 200 covers the top of the rear cover 100.
First and second film members 310 and 320 are respectively attached the first transparent window 105 of the rear cover 100 and the second transparent window 205 of the front cover 200 by using first and second coupling parts.
In detail, an edge portion of the first film member 310 is fixed to an edge portion of the first transparent window 105, and an edge portion of the second film member 320 is fixed to an edge portion of the second transparent window 205.
The first coupling part includes a stepped stop jaw 105a formed on the edge portion of the first transparent window 105 so that the edge portion of the first film member 310 can be fused to the top of the stop jaw 105a.
The second coupling part includes a stepped fixing jaw 210 extending inward from the edge portion of the second transparent window 205 so that the second film member 320 can be integrated on the second transparent window 205 by fusing the edge portion of the second film member 320 to one side of the stepped fixing jaw 210.
The attaching part includes: a fitting groove 120 formed in an upper edge portion of the rear cover 100 so that the lower part of the front cover 200 can be fitted in the fitting groove 120; and a fitting protrusion 220 corresponding to the fitting groove 120 and formed on the lower part of the front cover 200.
The fitting protrusion 220 may be press-fitted to the fitting groove 120 for waterproof sealing.
For this, the fitting groove 120 may widen as it goes inward from an inlet thereof, and the fitting protrusion 220 may have a shape corresponding to the shape of the fitting groove 120.
In addition, the front cover 200 and the rear cover 100 include accommodation recesses 230 and 130 formed in inner surfaces thereof at positions corresponding to the positions of function buttons of the hand-held terminal unit 10 for accommodating the function buttons.
An exemplary application of the waterproof case will now be explained according to an embodiment of the present invention.
In the waterproof case of the present invention, the edge portion of the first film member 310 is integrally coupled to the top edge portion of the stop jaw 105a of the first transparent window 105 by thermal or ultrasonic fusing, and the edge portion of the second film member 320 is integrally coupled to the bottom edge portion of the fixing jaw 210 of the second transparent window 205 by thermal or ultrasonic fusing.
Since the first film member 310 formed of a transparent material is attached to the first transparent window 105 at which the camera of the hand-held terminal unit 10 will be located, the camera of the hand-held terminal unit 10 can be used although the hand-held terminal unit 10 is sealed with the front cover 200 and the rear cover 100.
In addition, since the second film member 320 formed of a transparent material is attached to the second transparent window 205 corresponding to the front of the hand-held terminal unit 10, a touch screen of the hand-held terminal unit 10 can be used although the hand-held terminal unit 10 is sealed with the front cover 200 and the rear cover 100.
The hand-held terminal unit 10 and the front and rear covers 200 and 100 are coupled as follows: the hand-held terminal unit 10 is coupled to the rear cover 100 by placing the lower part of the hand-held terminal unit 10 in the recess 110 of the rear cover 100; and the front cover 200 is coupled to the top of the rear cover 100 in which the hand-held terminal unit 10 is placed so that the outside of the hand-held terminal unit 10 can be covered and sealed with the front cover 200 and the rear cover 100.
At this time, the fitting protrusion 220 of the front cover 200 is press-fitted to the fitting groove 120 formed on the top of the rear cover 100 so that the front cover 200 and the rear cover 100 can be hermetically coupled to each other.
Furthermore, since the lower part of the front cover 200 covers a portion of the top of the rear cover 100 and makes tight contact with the portion of the top of the rear cover 100, waterproof sealing characteristics can be improved.
When the hand-held terminal unit 10 is coupled with the front and rear covers 200 and 100, function buttons of the hand-held terminal unit 10 such as a power button and a volume button are accommodated in the accommodation recesses 230 and 130 formed in the inner surfaces of the front and rear covers 200 and 100.
