Abstract

A fuel injection characteristic learning device includes a pressure sensor (51) that detects a fuel pressure inside a fuel supply system including a fuel injection valve (20), and the device executes a learning processing of learning an operation characteristic of the fuel injection valve (20) on the basis of the fuel pressure detected by the pressure sensor (51). A main processing unit (42) executes a determination processing of determining whether or not the learning processing is able to be executed, on a basis of an engine parameter. A subsidiary processing unit (41) receives a determination result of the determination processing from the main processing unit (42), and executes the learning processing on the basis of the received determination result. The computation load on the main processing unit (41) is therefore reduced. The learning processing identifies a waveform of the injection rate during fuel injection. Correction coefficients are computed based on the difference between this identified waveform and a predetermined injection rate waveform.
