Abstract

The invention relates to a tile for covering a surface, the tile comprising: a base layer comprising a flexible plastic material and including a bottom layer and a middle layer; and a top layer comprising a ceramic material, the top layer being attached to the top surface of the middle layer; wherein the middle layer is attached to the top surface of the bottom layer in an offset relationship such that at least one edge of the middle layer extends beyond the edge of the bottom layer such that a margin on the lower surface of the middle layer is defined and at least one edge of the bottom layer extends beyond the edge of the middle layer such that a margin on the top surface of the bottom layer is defined; wherein at least one of the margins comprises an adhesive material.
