Abstract

The invention relates to a device for mounting tapered roller bearings on railway vehicle axles and to a method for mounting tapered roller bearings using said device, for automatically mounting tapered roller bearings (1) on the ends (2.1) of axles (2), by means of a press which includes opposed attachment mechanisms (4), each one of which comprises an axially movable mobile unit (5) and an inner bushing (7) which is pushed individually into a position in which said bushing projects at the end, with the outer portion comprising a turn-actuating mechanism (8), for moving a tapered roller bearing (1) from the inner bushing (7) to the corresponding end (2.1) of the installation axle (2), by means of an axial push and a combined turn during the movement.
