Abstract
A method and system for manufacturing a photovoltaic module comprising determining a centroid (21) and orientation (23) of a back contact foil (1), which centroid and orientation of the back contact foil are used for calculating virtual segments (16) at a surface of the back contact foil (1), for placing a solar cell (3) in a calculated virtual segment (16) on the back contact foil, wherein each virtual segment comprises a target centroid (17). Determining a centroid (7) and orientation (10) of at least one solar cell (3). Aligning the centroid (7) of the solar cell with the target centroid (17) of a virtual segment and rotating the solar cell such that the solar cell orientation (10) coincides with the orientation (23) of the back contact foil, and placing the aligned and rotated solar cell (3) in the virtual segment (16) at the back contact foil.
