Description

DESCRIPTION LIGHTING DEVICE APPLICABLE TO FANS Object of the invention.
The present invention refers to a lighting device applicable to fans that permits lighting to be provided to an existing fan in a simple way and without having to modify the wiring or change said fans. Field of application of the invention.
The device of this invention is applicable in the appliances industry, and more specifically in the sector of lighting equipment.
Background of the invention.
The use of fans is very common to cool rooms in shops, homes and offices due to their low power consumption. A widely used kind of fans is the one known as ceiling fan, which has a fixed part formed by a motor with a suspended downrod, around which rotating blades are arranged, which by effect of the motor, move the air thus producing relief from the sensation of heat.
In some cases, the fixed part these fans incorporate lighting means, such as shades for lamps or the like which allow the fan to have a dual function.
The main problem is that in large rooms, changing the lighting can be expensive, since changing a conventional fan for another having incorporated lighting means requires the removal of the old one and the investment in buying a new one.
Besides, in many cases it is also necessary to modify the power supply installation of the fans to adapt it to new devices.
The document ES1062581 U describes a "fan with decorative lighting system" intended to generate a continuous air draft and at the same time a dynamic and changing luminous effect. The fan described has a main assembly equipped with an electric motor at which end a propeller equipped with light emitters is fixed, managed and powered by an associated controller plate which rotates and is connected to the rotor which rotates within a stator to produce electricity. Said stator is connected to an adapting plate and a current transformer, and this is connected to the power supply with the power cord, which at the same time supplies electricity to the electric motor of the fan.
This configuration is complex and more focused to provide the fan with a novel or differentiated look instead of producing effective lighting.
The applicant of the present invention does not know the existence of prior art that successfully solves the problems exposed.
Description of the invention.
The lighting device applicable to fans, object of this invention has some technical features provided to facilitate the placement of a point of light in a ceiling fan, without having to carry out additional installations, or to change already installed apparatuses. Another object is to provide to said lighting point with autonomous operation independently from the fan power supply, both for already existing fans and for newly produced fans.
According to the invention, the lighting device comprises an electric generator provided with anchor means to a fixed part of the fan. Said electric generator has a rotor provided with at least one rotating driven arm arranged in the fan blade rotation path and a lighting element adapted to a current output of said electric generator.
In this way the device is easily installable in an already existing fan, without the need to change it, or to modify its wiring. The driving arms arranged in the blade rotation path move when the fan is running and the electric generator supplies enough electricity for the lighting element to be activated.
In this device the electric generator can be arranged, indistinctly, inside or outside of the fan, depending on its configuration. Also the attachment to the fixed part of the fan can be performed both to the casing covering the fan engine at its bottom, and to the supporting downrod.
In any case the driving arms have a configuration suitable for interposing in the path of the blades.
In one embodiment, in which it is intended that the present lighting element operates autonomously independently from the fan operation, it is envisaged that the lighting element comprises a battery storing electrical energy supplied by the electrical generator and means for activating said lighting element. Thus, during the hours of fan operation the device stores electric energy in the lighting battery, which in one example it is a lithium accumulator, which can then be used to activate the lighting element even when the fan is stopped. In a preferred embodiment, the lighting element comprises light-emitting diodes LEDs that provide great efficiency and performance without appreciable heat. The activation means, for example a remote control, allows for the control of the lighting element, by powering it on and off as required by the user. Furthermore, it is also possible to select if the lighting element is powered by the battery power, or directly by the electricity produced at that time by the electric generator when the fan is running.
In one embodiment, the power supplied by the electric generator can be drawn for other uses from the device by means of an extension wire or the like.
Description of figures.
In order to complement the description that is being carried out and with the purpose of facilitating the understanding of the characteristics of the invention, the present description is accompanied by a set of drawings wherein, by way of a non-limiting example, the following has been represented:
- Figure 1 shows an elevation view of one embodiment of the invention. - Figure 2 shows an elevation view of the device installed in a fan.
Preferred embodiment of the invention.
As it can be seen in the referenced figures, the device of the invention is formed by an electric generator (1 ) provided with anchor means (1 1 ), in this case at its top, for its attachment to a fixed part of a fan (2), in this case the housing (21 ) of the motor. Said electric generator (1 ) has a rotor (12), coaxially arranged to the rotation axis of the fan, and provided with rotating driving arms (13).
In this case, these rotating driving arms (13) have an angled configuration, with a portion arranged in the path of the blades (22) of the fan (2).
At its lower part the electric generator (1 ) has a lighting element (3) that is connected to the current outside of said electric generator (1 ) for its activation and supply when the movement of the blades (22) of the fan (2) push the driving arms (13) of the rotor (12).
Once the nature of the invention as well as an example of preferred embodiment have been sufficiently described, it is stated for all pertinent purposes that the materials, form, size and arrangement of the elements described are susceptible to changes, provided these do not involve an alteration of the essential characteristics of the invention that are claimed subsequently.
