Abstract

La présente invention concerne un procédé permettant d'étendre un réseau de fractures existantes dans une formation souterraine. Ledit procédé consiste à pomper un premier fluide dans un volume pressurisé afin de pressuriser un fluide compressible dans ledit volume pressurisé jusqu'à une pression prédéterminée et à évacuer un deuxième fluide du volume pressurisé dans un volume confiné relié aux fractures existantes, le deuxième fluide étant évacué suite à une relaxation du fluide compressible pressurisé dans le volume pressurisé. Par ailleurs, l'évacuation du deuxième fluide exerce dans les fractures existantes des pressions excédant un seuil de fracturation de la formation souterraine.
