Abstract
The present invention is about an apparatus that has a gear and transmission system that converts rotational force to linear force driven by an electrical motor 200. An electrical motor 200 is proposed to replace the ineffective shaft inside the pole 120. The electrical motor 200 will produce rotational motion that connected to gears. These gears 160 is designed to increased the torque that produced by the motor 200 to certain value of ratio. The con-rod 167 in the gear system 160 converts the rotational motion to linear motion which will activate the sickle system 180 to move up-down in its longitudinal direction, thus performing the cutting force. The system consists of four main components which are electrical motor 200, gears system 160, and sickle system 180.
Description
Description
Title of Invention: A MOTORIZED CUTTER Technical Field
[1] The present invention relates to a gear and transmission system for a cutter such as palm oil cutter.
Background Art
[2] Recently, Malaysian Palm Oil Board has developed an efficient mechanical cutter which employs a specially designed sickle which is able to perform the cutting with more efficient and faster compared to the conventional cutting tools. Field trials conducted in various estates showed that the productivity of the workers has been found to increase three times as opposed to the manual sickle. The drawbacks of this mechanical cutter are the extra weight (due to the gears and shaft) and also limited in height reach since a longer pole cause bending to the pole. This also make ineffective to the shaft transmitting motion to the cutting head inside the pole.

Summary of The Invention
[3] According to the first aspect of the present invention, the present invention is
provided that a motorized cutter 100 comprising a pole 120; connected to a generator 140;a gear system 160;a casing 166; and a sickle system 180;wherein the gear system 160 within the casing 166; connected to the sickle system 180; characterized in that an electrical motor 200 having a motor shaft 202 is introduced in the gear system 160 wherein the electrical motor 200 is powered by the generator 140 through wires inside the pole 120. This provision is advantageous as an electrical motor 140 produces rotational motion that connected directly to the gear system 160.
[4] According to second aspect of the present invention, the present invention is
provided that the gear system further comprising 1 :3 ratio gear system 165. This provision is advantageous as the gear system of 1:3 ratio 165 decreases the speed of rotation by three times as motor 200 produces higher torque as the speed is decreased.
[5] According to third aspect of the present invention, the present invention is provided that the gear system further comprising 1 :4 ratio gear system 170. This provision is advantageous as the gear system of 1 :4 ratio 170 decreases the speed of rotation by four times as motor 200 produces higher torque as the speed is decreased.

[ 12] DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE PREFERRED EMBODIMENT.
[13] Figure 1 relates to t he basic structure of electrical motorized cutter . It consists of electrical motor 200, gear system 160 and a sickle system 180. The electrical motor 200 is powered by a generator 140 through wires inside the pole 120. The electrical motor 200 drives the gears inside the gear system 160 through the motor shaft 202. The gear system 160 also consists of con-rod 167 that convert the rotational motion to linear motion that activates the sickle system 180 to move up-down in its longitudinal direction, thus performing the cutting.
[14] Figure 2 and Figure 3 represent t he details of gears and transmission system inside the gear system 160 of electrical motorized cutter 100 for 1 to 3 ratio gear system 165 . It consists of a casing 166,pair of gears and a con-rod 167. The pair of gears consists of gear A 163 and gear B 164. The principle of operation of the transmission system starts from the motor shaft 202. The motor shaft202 driven by the electrical motor 140 rotates according to the electrical motor's 140 torque and speed. This makes gear A 166a to rotates according to the shaft, thus also gear B 166b rotates. These gears are designed for 1 to 3 ratio which means that it increase the torque at the same time decrease the speed of the rotation by three. The gear B 166b is connected to con-rod 167 which functions to convert the rotational motion into linear motion. This linear motion gives displacement of 16 mm to the sickle sleeve 180a. The sickle sleeve 180a is placed inside the slide sleeve 180b for proper sliding. The sickle sleeve 180a is connected with C-shape sickle 180c thus providing the same displacement and force for cutting performance.
[15] Figure 4 and Figure 5 shows t he details of gears and transmission system inside the gear system 160 of electrical motorized cutter 100 for 1 to 4 ratio . It consists of a casing 166, two pair of gears, a con-rod 167. The two pair of gears are gear A 166a with gear B 166b and gear C 166c with gear D 166d. The principle of operation of the transmission system starts from the motor shaft 202. The shaft 202 driven by the electrical motor 140 rotates according to the electrical motor's 140 torque and speed. This makes gear A 166a to rotates according to the shaft 202, thus also gear B 166b rotates. Since gear B 166b is coupled to gear C 166c, both pair of gear C 166c and gear
D 166d rotates. Both pairs of gear A 166a with gears B 166b and gear C 166c with gears D 166d are designed for 1 to 2 ratio. It means that it each pair increases the torque and at the same time decreases the speed of the rotation by double. The gear D 166d is connected to con-rod 167 which functions to convert the rotational motion into linear motion.
Although the invention has been described with reference to particular embodiment, it is to be understood that the embodiment is merely illustrative of the principles and applications of the present invention. It is therefore to be understood that numerous modifications may be made to the illustrative embodiment that other arrangements may be devised without departing from the scope of the present invention as defined by the appended claims.
