Abstract

The invention is a belt for transporting substantially flat food containers in the horizontal position, comprising at least one rectangular sheet made of a plastic material (A) and having a handle (M, F) on each one of its two opposite short sides, in proximity to the edge (A2). The flat container or piled flat containers to be transported is/are placed on said belt so that said container/s is/are at the level of the centerline (R) of the belt. The sides (A2) with handle (M, F) of the new belt are lifted and the handles (M, F) are moved near each other and coupled.

Description

BELT FOR TRANSPORTING
FLAT CONTAINERS ON TOP OF ONE ANOTHER
DESCRIPTION
The present invention concerns the devices for transporting boxes containing food lying horizontally that has to be transported, like just baked pizzas, and in particular it concerns a new belt for transporting boxes containing food like pizzas, cakes etc. keeping them in the horizontal position.
As soon as they come out of the oven, the pizzas are put into boxes consisting of a cut and folded sheet of cardboard suitable for food products.
Said boxes are usually transported carrying them with a hand, or with both hands if their size or weight is considerable.
When several boxes must be transported, they are placed on top of one another and consequently it is difficult to keep them all in the horizontal position without letting them fall or slide.
If the content of the box, or of the piled boxes, is hot, it is uncomfortable or even impossible to transport the boxes with one hand or both hands in contact with the bottom of the lowest box.
Paper bags with square bottom are known that are used for transporting square boxes in the horizontal position.
Said bags pose various drawbacks, in fact their production costs are high, in terms of both raw materials and the processing operations that are necessary to form and glue the various portions of the bag.
The subject of the present invention is a new belt for transporting substantially flat individual or piled containers for food products, which must be kept in the horizontal position.
One object of the invention is to propose a belt having reduced production costs.
Another object of the invention is to propose a new belt that can be produced with just a few simple operations.
A further object of the invention is to propose a new belt that cannot be affected by liquids or fluids that may flow out of said flat containers.
These and other direct and complementary objects are achieved by the new belt for transporting flat containers for food products, even suited to be piled up, comprising at least one rectangular sheet made of a plastic material and having one handle on each one of its two opposite short sides.
The short side of the new belt is equal to or longer than the side of the flat containers to be transported, and its long side is indicatively at least twice the width of the flat containers to be transported, or even longer.
According to the invention, one or more lines orthogonal to the long sides of the plastic sheet is/are provided in order to make it easier to position the container on the center line.
Each short side of said belt is provided with a carrying handle.
Said handle can be constituted by a strip of plastic material bent in the shape of a U and joined to the short side of the plastic sheet.
Said handle may consist of a hole or opening in proximity to the edge of the plastic sheet. Said opening can, for example, be rectangular or rectangular with the short sides arranged so as to form a semicircle, or generically in the shape of an ellipse or a bean.
According to the invention, it is possible to provide a reinforcing element around the hole that makes up the handle, said reinforcing element being constituted by a holed plastic strip applied to the inner side of the plastic sheet. According to the invention, the new belt may consist of two or three aligned plastic sheets, that is, heat welded on the opposite sides. The plastic sheet or sheets that make up the new belt and the corresponding handles can be made, for example, of polypropylene, high or low density polyethylene, biopolymers of plant origin, or another suitable plastic material. According to the invention, the side of said plastic sheet or sheets facing towards the inside and towards the flat containers to be transported can be rough.
The new belt made up as described above is laid open and the flat container or piled containers to be transported is/are placed on said belt so that said container is at the level of the centerline of the belt.
The sides with handle of the new belt are lifted and the handles are moved near each other and coupled. In this way the new belt takes on a generically triangular configuration, with substantially horizontal bottom side. The characteristics of the new belt for transporting piled flat containers will be highlighted in greater detail in the following description with reference to the drawings attached as non- limiting examples.
Figure 1 shows a first example of embodiment of the new belt, comprising a rectangular sheet made of a plastic material (A) having a handle (M) on each short side (A2).
Said handle (M) is constituted by a strip of plastic material bent in the shape of a U and joined to the short side (A2) of the plastic sheet (A).
A line (R) indicating the centerline is provided at the level of the midpoints of the long sides (A3) and is parallel to said short sides (A2).
Figure 2 shows a second example of embodiment of the new belt, comprising two rectangular sheets made of a plastic material (Α', A") joined along a short side (Al) and each having a handle (M) in proximity to the opposite short side
(A2).
Figure 3 shows a third example of embodiment of the new belt, comprising three sheets made of a plastic material (Α', A", A'").
The centre sheet in plastic material (A'") is square.
The lateral sheets in plastic material (Α', A") are rectangular and one of their short sides (A'l, A" l) is joined to two opposite sides (A"'l) of the square centre plastic sheet (A'").
A handle (M) is fixed to the short sides (A2) external to the lateral plastic sheets (A, A").
Figure 4 shows an example of embodiment of the new belt, in which the handles are constituted by a hole (F) or opening in proximity to the short sides (A2) of the plastic sheet (A).
In this example the new belt comprises, around each hole (F) constituting the handle, a holed reinforcing strip (Fl) made of a plastic material applied to the inner side of the plastic sheet (A).
Figure 5 illustrates an example of embodiment of the new belt for transporting piled flat containers.
The line (R) indicating the centerline of the strip is at the level of the centerline of the bottom container.
The plastic sheet (A) wraps horizontally the base of the bottom flat container, comes to be positioned vertically to the sides of the various piled flat containers and continues upwards in inclined position until joining the two short sides (A2) of the plastic sheet (A).
The two handles (M) are positioned side by side and make it possible to lift and transport all the piled flat containers with one hand only.
Therefore, with reference to the above description and the attached drawings, the following claims are expressed.
