Description

IMPROVED ANTI-THEFT CASE
The present invention refers to an improved anti- theft case, in particular for containers of relatively costly items, such as cosmetic and beauty products, watches or the like, and of the type comprising extraction-preventing means of such items inside the case, that can be activated and/or only deactivated by means of detaching devices available for service personnel, while inside the case, together with such items, anti-theft means are housed, in a position that cannot be accessed, such as magnetic labels, radiofrequency-emitting labels or the like, cooperating with detecting barriers.
Cases of this type are known. They are composed of a box, typically made of a transparent material such as polycarbonate, to allow seeing the item arranged inside the case, and of a cover or an item-supporting base hinged to the box to be able to be opened and closed again, such base or cover, once having inserted the item inside the case, being blocked onto the box by means of locking pins or blades that can be actuated to allow afterwards re-opening the case through key-type or magnetic detaching devices. Examples of such cases are disclosed in US-A-7228963, WO-A-9705354 , WO-A-2006080882.
Such known cases however have some inconveniences that make them still relatively vulnerable to tampering attempts and to the theft of items contained therein. In fact, once having closed and blocked the cover or base onto the box, not only the connecting hinge between these two elements remains visible and accessible, but, between the base or cover and the box, the contact line between their respective edges remains exposed: these two aspects can allow, for example by levering with a screw-driver or another suitable tool, along the hinge or along such contact line between base/cover and box, breaking the hinge, base and/or box themselves and the consequent fraudulent opening of the case.
Moreover, known cases provide for locking the box along a single side of the cover/base, making again relatively easy to open it.
Moreover, in known cases, the projection through which it is possible to unlock and open the case through a known magnetic detaching device is visible and exposed, making thereby easy to locate and tamper with it, for example through a tool or the exposure to a high source of heat, such as for example the flame of a lighter, that makes them melt and makes the locking pin arranged therein go out.
Therefore, object of the present invention is providing an improved anti-theft case comprising at least one box and a related door adapted to be opened and in which, once having closed and locked such door onto the box, both the edge of this latter one and the connecting hinge between box and door are completely contained inside the door itself, remaining therefore invisible and inaccessible from the outside.
Another object of the present invention is providing an improved anti-theft case in which the projection for applying the magnetic detaching device is not projecting and is hidden in at least one door corner, making thereby difficult to locate it and scarcely easy to tamper with it, and making the case less encumbrant and aesthetically more pleasant.
The above and other objects and advantages of the invention, as will appear from the following description, are obtained by an improved anti-theft case as claimed in Claim 1. Preferred embodiments and non-trivial variations of the present invention are claimed in the dependent Claims.
It is intended that all enclosed claims are an integral part of the present disclosure. The present invention will be better described by some preferred embodiments thereof, given as a non- limiting example, with reference to the enclosed drawings, in which:
- Figure 1 is an exploded perspective view of a preferred embodiment of the anti-theft case according to the present invention;
- Figure 2 is an exploded perspective view of an alternative embodiment of the anti-theft case of Figure 1;
- Figure 3 is an exploded perspective view of another preferred embodiment of the anti-theft case according to the present invention;
- Figure 2 . is an exploded perspective view of an alternative embodiment of the anti-theft case of Figure 2;
- Figure 5a is a perspective view of the anti-theft case according to the present invention in an operating use position thereof;
- Figure 5b is a sectional view of the anti-theft case in the operating position of Figure 5a;
- Figure 6a is a perspective view of the anti-theft case according to the present invention in another operating use position thereof;
- Figure 6b is a sectional view of the anti-theft case in the operating position of Figure FIG. 6a; and - Figures 7 to 9 show perspective views of the anti- theft case according to the present invention in a succession of other operating use positions.
With reference to the Figures, a preferred embodiment of the improved anti-theft case of the present invention is shown and described. It will be immediately obvious that numerous variations and modifications (for example related to shape, sizes, arrangements and parts with equivalent functionality) could be made to what is described, without departing from the scope of the invention as appears from the enclosed claims.
With reference to the Figures, the case 1 according to the present invention is composed of at least one door 3 adapted to be opened, hingedly connected, for example by interposing at least one hinge-type kinematism 5 mentioned below, to at least one edge of a box 7, inside such door 3 adapted to be opened means being arranged for opening/closing 9 such box 7 with respect to such door 3, and extraction-preventing means 11 adapted to lock or unlock the opening of such case 1. Advantageously, the box 7 is equipped with at least one extreme edge 13 adapted to be completely contained inside a corresponding slit 15 arranged along such door 3 when the case 1 is at least in its closed position. Obviously, it is possible to provide that all extreme perimeter edges 13 of the box 7 are contained inside the slit 15 having, consequently, suitable shape and sizes and being arranged, for example, in a suitably perimeter position around the door 3 in a continuous way.
In order to make it more difficult to mechanically tamper with the case 1 according to the present invention, for example by inserting the bit of a screwdriver or another suitable tool inside the slit 15 in order to forcedly separate the box 7 of the door 3, the extreme edge 13 can be equipped with at least one rib 14 adapted to abut onto the door 3 and, consequently, externally cover the slit 15.
Moreover, such extreme edge 13 is equipped with abutment means 17 cooperating with the means for opening/closing 9 in the modes that will be described below in more detail.
Obviously, the box 7 can be made of any transparent material that allows viewing from outside the item placed inside the case 1 according to the present invention and having adequate resistance features, such as for example polycarbonate .
Similarly, though in the Figures, merely as an example, a case 1 has been shown comprising a box 7 shaped as a recatangular parallelepiped and a respective door 3 having, consequently, a substantially square- shaped plan to allow coupling with the box 7 and housing the related extreme edge 13 inside the slit 15, such elements 3, 7 can have any other shape, without thereby departing from the scope of the present invention: in fact, it is easy to imagine, without obviously being exhaustive, a box 7 having a cylindrical, conical or semispherical shape, with circular or ellyptical base and related door 3 and slit 15 consequently circular or ellyptical in their plan, as well as any box 7 with polyhedrical shape with its respective door 3 and slit 15 of an adequate shape.
It is wholly clear that the door 3 can operate both as cover, and as side wall, and as base, as shown as an example in the Figures, of the case 1 according to the present invention. In this latter case, the door 3 then also operates as abutment and bearing surface of the item placed inside the case 1 itself.
The door 3 adapted to be opened is composed of at least one plate 19, along whose perimeter the slit 15 is arranged, and the means for opening/closing 9 comprise at least one opening/closing plate 21 sliding inside such plate 19 and cooperating with the abutment means 17 arranged along the extreme edges 13 of the box 7 and with at least one control push-button 22 going out of the door 3 through a related opening 24 of the plate 19. The plate 19 can further be equipped with at least one covering panel 20 suitable to insulate the sliding opening/closing plate 21 and avoid interferences with the contents of the box 7. The sliding opening/closing plate 21 can then advantageously slide between a first position in which opening of the case 1 is allowed, and a second closing and locking position of the case 1 itself. Moreover, in parallel with its own sliding direction, between the sliding opening/closing plate 21 and the plate 19, elastic means are interposed, preferably composed of at least one helical spring 27.
In a first preferred embodiment of the case 1 according to the present invention, like the one shown for example in Figures 1 and 2, the sliding opening/closing plate 21 is laterally equipped with at least one closing tooth 23 cooperating with a respective abutment means 17 of the extreme edge 13 of the box 7, such abutment means 17 comprising at least one "T"-shaped groove composed of an open portion 25a and a closed portion 25b orthogonal to such open portion 25a and forming an insertion undercut for the respective closing tooth 23. Preferably, each one of two opposite sides of such sliding opening/closing plate 21 is equipped with two such closing teeth 23 corresponding to respective grooves 25a, 25b arranged on two opposite extreme edges 13 of the box 7.
In the first position of the sliding opening/closing plate 21, spontaneously kept by the action of the elastic means, and in particular by the thrust exerted by the helical springs 27, the control push-button 22 is projecting from the plate 19 and each one of the closing teeth 23 is in a position corresponding to the open portion 25a of a respective "T"-shaped groove. Once having closed the box 7 on the door 3, the extreme edge 13 completely enters inside the slit 15 and each closing tooth 23 penetrates inside the "T"-shaped groove through the respective open portion 25a till it reaches the related closed portion 25b. By pressing the control push- button 22, the sliding opening/closing plate 21 is taken to slide inside the plate 19, compressing the elastic means, and in particular the helical springs 27, and taking each closing tooth 23 to slide inside the respective closed portion 25b of the "T"-shaped groove, reaching the insertion undercut and consequently preventing the panel 3 from opening: at the end of sliding, the sliding opening/closing plate 21 reaches the second closing and locking position, and such position is kept by the extraction-preventing means 11 in the modes that will be described below in more detail. In a second preferred embodiment of the case 1 according to the present invention, like the one for example shown in Figures 3 and 4, the sliding opening/closing plate 21 cooperates with the abutment means 17 by interposing at least one side closing plate 29 sliding inside the plate 19 along a direction that is substantially orthogonal to the sliding direction of the sliding opening/closing plate 21. Preferably, each one of two opposite sides of such sliding opening/closing plate 21 cooperates with a respective side closing plate 29, each one of such side closing plates 29 being equipped with at least one closing tooth 31 cooperating with a respective abutment means 17 of the extreme edge 13 of the box 7, such abutment means 17 comprising at least one groove 33 corresponding, as shape and sizes, with such closing tooth 31 to allow this latter one to be inserted inside the groove 33 itself. Preferably, each one of such side closing plates 29 is equipped with three of such closing teeth 31 corresponding to respective grooves 33 arranged on two opposite extreme edges 13 of the box 7.
Moreover, each one of such side closing plates 29 is equipped with at least one, suitably slanted guiding slit 35, inside which at least one guiding projection 37 is slidingly inserted, integral with the sliding opening/closing plate 21: the cam effect obtained between the guiding slit 35 and the respective guiding projection 37 sliding inside thereby allows transforming the sliding direction of the sliding opening/closing plate 21 into the sliding direction of the side closing plates 29, such sliding direction of the side closing plates 29 being then substantially orthogonal to the sliding direction of the sliding opening/closing plate 21. In the first position of the sliding opening/closing plate 21, spontaneously kept by the action of the elastic means, and in particular by the thrust exerted by the helical springs 27, the control push-button 22 is projecting from the plate 19 and each one of the side closing plates 29 is in a retracted position in which the closing teeth 33 do not interfere with the extreme edge 13. Once having closed the box 7 onto the door 3, the extreme edge 13 completely enters inside the slit 15 and each closing tooth 31 finds itself next to its respective groove 33.
By pressing the control push-button 22, the sliding opening/closing plate 21 is taken to slide inside the plate 19 compressing the elastic means, and in particular the helical springs 27, taking each side closing plate 29 to slide, through an interaction between guiding slits 35 and related guiding projections 37, towards outside along an orthogonal direction, inserting each closing tooth 31 inside the respective and corresponding groove 33 and consequently preventing the panel 3 from opening: at the end of sliding, the sliding opening/closing plate 21 reaches the second closing and locking position and such position is kept by .the extraction-preventing means 11 in the modes that will be described below in more detail.
In the preferred embodiment of the case 1 according to the present invention as shown as an example in Figures 1, 3 5b and 6b, in order to guarantee the locking and unlocking of the case 1 itself, the extraction- preventing means 11 comprise at least one pin 39 made of ferromagnetic material, that is slidingly housed inside a slanted seat 40 preferably arranged next to a corner 42 of the plate 19 of the door 3, such pin 39 being equipped with an end adapted to engage a respective locking seat 41 of the sliding opening/closing plate 21 when this latter one is in the second closing and locking position. The pin 39 is always stressed towards the locking seat 41 by at least one spring 43. Therefore, once the sliding opening/closing plate 21 reaches the second closing and locking position in the above-described modes, the pin 39, under the thrusting action of the spring 43, penetrates inside the locking seat 41, preventing any other movement of the plate 21, and in particular any other sliding towards the first position.
In an alternative embodiment of the case 1 as shown as an example in Figures 2 and 4, the extraction- preventing means 11 can comprise at least one reduced- encumbrance blade 45 for a magnetic detaching device of a substantially known type.
Obviously, the extraction-preventing means 11 can be made according to any other known mode suitable for this purpose, without departing from the scope of the present invention. It is also clear that the . extraction- preventing means 11, instead of having a magnetic operation, could have a mechanical or electric/electronic operation, associated with a suitable detaching device without departing from the scope of the present invention.
Moreover, the case 1 according to the present invention can be equipped with a known alarm detecting system, for example made as at least one adhesive label with detection as radiofrequency (RF) , electromagnetic (EM) or acoustic-magnetic (AM) type or their combinations. Moreover, the case 1 can be equipped with at least one electronic card equipped with sound alarm, possibly cooperating with the current detecting system. And furthermore, the above stated alarm detecting system is preferably inserted into the door 3 and is closed by the plate 19.
In the preferred embodiment of the case 1 according to the present invention as shwon as an example in Figures 1 and 2 , the hinge-type kinematism 5 can comprise at least one pair of brackets 47 integral with the door 3, and in particular the covering panel 20, each one of such brackets 47 being equipped with a respective rotation pin 49 engaging a respective rotation seat (not shown) arranged in a suitable position on the box 7.
Alternatively, like in the preferred embodiment of the case 1 according to the present invention shown as an example in Figures 3 and 4, the hinge-type kinematism 5 is of the oscillating type and can comprise at least one pair of brackets 51 integral with the door 3, each one of such brackets 51 being equipped with a respective rotation pin 53 engaging a respective rotation slot 55 arranged in a suitable position on the box 7 : in such a way, the door 3 is equipped with an oscillating movement composed both of a rotation movement and of a translation movement with respect to the box 7.
Moreover, it can be noted how, in both above- described cases, advantageously also the hinge-type kinematism 5 is wholly inserted inside the slit 15 of the door 3 when the case 1 according to the present invention is in its closed position.
Instead, with reference to Figures 5a to 9, it is possible to note some example unlocking and opening steps of the case 1 according to the present invention.
In order then to unlock the sliding of the plate 21 locked by the extraction-preventing means 11, it is necessary to operate on such extraction-preventing means 11 by using a detaching device, for example of the magnetic and/or mechanical type, of a type substantially known in the art. For example, as shown in Figures 5a, 5b, 6a and 6b, if the extraction-preventing means 11 are of the type shown in Figures 1 and 3, it is enough to subject the pin 39 to a magnetic attraction force M along the extraction direction E through the action of a magnet 57, that is placed in operating contact with the corner 42 of the door 3 equipped with the slanted seat 40 (Figures 5a and 5b) and that exerts the necessary attraction force to attract such pin 39 against the action of the spring 43 and to extract it from the locking seat 41 of the sliding opening/closing plate 21 (Figure 6b) .
Once having disengaged the pin 39 from the locking seat 41, the elastic means, and in particular the thrusting action of the helical springs 27, take the sliding opening/closing plate 21 to slide S (Figure 6b) taking it back to its first position: the means for opening/closing 9 then disengage the abutment means 17, taking back, for example, the closing teeth 23 next to the respective open portion 25a of the "T"-shaped groove or extracting the closing teeth 31 of the side closing plates 29 from the corrispondenti grooves 33, and the control push-button 22 goes out P from the door 3 (Figure 6a) .
Therefore, it is now possible to open the case 1 according to the present invention by extracting (Figure 7) the extreme edges 13 from the slit 15 of the door 3 (for example through a translation movement T of the hinge-type kinematism 5 according to the preferred embodiment of Figures 3 and 4, described above) and rotating R (Figures 8 and 9) the door 3 with respect to the box 7.
