Abstract

Jewelry chest, comprising a body (CS) within which there is a seat (F) for the jewels. The body (CS) is a solid body provided with a plurality of passing holes having a shoulder (G) and in each of which holes there is housed a corresponding cylinder (A, B, C). Each of the said cylinders (A, B, C) has an indentation (E) whose position relative to another cylinder determines the release or locking thereof. A cylinder (C) features the said seat (F). Means are provided for reversibly locking a cylinder (A) to the solid body.

Jewelry chest.
DESCRIPTION
The present invention relates to a jewelry chest. It is known that jewelry boxes and chests are generally used to store precious materials such as rings, bracelets, necklaces and other jewelry articles. It is also known that, in general, a jewelry chest is constituted by a box-like body in which may be predisposed more compartments or seats for storing the precious orderly inside. To prevent access to the contents of the chest, this is generally equipped with a lock or a padlock or a combination key. A jewelry chest is disclosed in US4978001.
The present invention aims at providing a jewelry chest without keys or locks closure enabling, however, storing the precious inside it without giving up the necessary security.
This result is achieved, according to the present invention, by adopting the idea of realizing a jewelry chest having the characteristics indicated in claim 1. Other features of the invention are the subject of the dependent claims.
A jewelry chest in accordance with the present invention is relatively simple from the constructive point of view, functional, reliable and free from the drawbacks linked to the loss of the keys needed for the closure and opening of conventional jewel boxes.
These and other advantages and features of the present invention will be best understood by anyone skilled in the art thanks to the following description and the accompanying drawings, given by way of illustration, in which: Fig.l is a schematic perspective view of the mechanism allowing the access to the jewels;
Figs. 2 and 3 are two schematic longitudinal section views of said mechanism in the locked (Fig.2) and respectively unlocked (Fig.3) position;
Figs. 4 and 5 schematically show the relative position of cylinders A and B with the cylinder B locked (Fig. ) and unlocked (Fig.5);
Fig.6 is a schematic perspective view in transparency of a jewelry chest according to the present invention.
Fig.7 represents the mechanism of Fig.l with the seat F of cylinder C provided with a transparent cover K;
Fig.8 is a schematic cross section view of the cylinder C;
Fig.9 represents a detail of the cylinder B;
Fig.10 represents an alternative embodiment of cylinder C.
With reference to the example shown in the attached drawings, a jewelry chest according to the present invention a jewelry chest in accordance with this invention comprises a solid body (CS) realizable in various forms (eg, cube-shaped or spherical or polyhedral) and in various materials (eg, wood, plastics, resins, semi-precious stones, etc.. ) exhibiting more through holes of various diameters with abutment intermediate G whose traces are two by two mutually orthogonal. In each of said holes is inserted a corresponding cylinder.
In the drawings, said cylinders are denoted by the references A, B and C.
As further indicated in the following, the said cylinders A, B and C are touching two by two, that is, each of said cylinders touches another cylinder, so as to be bound to one another so that they cannot be pulled out of their housings, that is, out of said through holes of the solid body in which the cylinders are placed, without making certain preliminary maneuvers.
Inside the first cylinder A a plug free D is inserted. The latter engages a corresponding seat H of said solid body when the same is positioned as in Figure 2 (in this position, the plug D is free to slide by gravity towards the seat H, constraining the cylinder A to the solid body) . Conversely, the plug D is disengaged from said seat H when the solid body is positioned as shown in Fig.3 (in this position, the plug D moves by gravity away from the seat H and goes back in the cylinder A) . Therefore, the cylinder A is locked or unlocked to the solid body (CS) depending on the position of the free plug D that determines, as said before, the positioning of the plug D in the seat H or vice versa the return of the same plug inside the cylinder A.
As illustrated in the accompanying drawings, each of said cylinders A, B, and C has an indentation E and the cylinders A, B and C can be constrained two by two with each other through the respective indentations E. For example, in Fig.4, the cylinder B is locked by the cylinder A as the indentation E of the cylinder A is in a position diametrically opposite to the cylinder B. Conversely, in Fig.5, the cylinder B is released from the cylinder A as the indentation E of the cylinder A is on the cylinder B.
Similarly, the cylinder C is bound to the cylinder B, or released, depending on the position of the cylinder B, that is depending on the position of the indentation E of the cylinder B.
In practice, when the indentation of a cylinder is on another cylinder, the two cylinders are free, but when the indentation of a cylinder is opposite to another cylinder, then the two cylinders are locked with each other. In other words, when a not indented portion of a cylinder is in contact with the indentation of another cylinder, the two cylinders are free; on the contrary, when a not indented portion of a cylinder is in contact with another not indented portion of another cylinder, the two cylinders are locked with each other. Again in other words, each of the said cylinders A, B, C has an indentation E whose position relative to another cylinder determines the release or locking thereof depending on the fact that the indentation E is close to or away from said another cylinder. The third cylinder C has .a seat F in which the jewels can be placed.
Starting from a condition in which the cylinders are locked inside the body CS, in order to gain accession to the seat F, first the cylinder A is unlocked by rotating the body CS such that the plug D is positioned inside the cylinder A (as shown in Fig.3). Then, the cylinder A is gripped by one hand, by the user, and manually rotated around its axis to release the cylinder B (as shown in Fig.5). Similarly, the cylinder B is rotated about its axis to release the cylinder C, which therefore can be extracted from its housing so as to have access to the seat F. To restore the initial condition, the maneuvers now described are repeated in reverse order . A satellite tracking chip can be installed inside the body CS .
As shown in Figs. 6, 7 and 8, the said seat F can be closed by a removable cover K (made, for example, of plastics) that can be placed above the seat F by elastically forcing the same cover K to engage two pairs of pins P emerging from the opposed side basis FB of the seat F.
As shown in Fig.9, a portion of the cylinder B can have a. groove BG destined to engage a pin (not shown in the drawings) internally provided by the body CS and constituting a stop when the cylinder B is rotated about its axis.
Furthermore, as shown in Fig.10, the seat F provided by the cylinder C can have the shape of a groove CG in which jewels like necklaces and bracelets can be wound.
In practice, the construction details may vary in any equivalent way as regards the single described and illustrated elements, without nevertheless departing from the scope of the adopted solution and thereby remaining within the limits of the protection granted to the present patent.

Claims

1) Jewelry chest, comprising a body (CS) within which there is a seat (F) for the jewels, characterized in that said body (CS) is a solid body provided with a plurality of passing holes having a shoulder (G) and in each of which holes there is housed a corresponding cylinder (A, B, C) , in that each of the said cylinders (A, B, C) has an indentation (E) whose position relative to another cylinder determines the release or locking thereof, in that a cylinder (C) features the said seat (F), and in that comprises means for reversibly locking a cylinder (A) to the solid body.
2) Jewelry chest according to claim 1, characterized in that the said means for locking the cylinder (A) to the solid body include a plug (D), housed within the same cylinder (A), which is extracted by gravity from this cylinder, or remains inside it, depending on the spatial position of the solid body.
3) Jewelry chest according to claim 1, characterized in that the cylinders (A, B, C) are three in number.
4) Jewelry chest according to claim 1, characterized in that the cylinders (A, B, C) are of different diameters.
5) Jewelry chest according to claim 1, characterized in that the cylinders (A, B, C) are two by two in contact with each other.
