Abstract

A wireless device (10) has two or more radio systems (20,30) and SIM channels. At least a part of the first radio system (20) can be shut down to reduce the power consumed by the device (10). This occurs if the first radio system (20) is unable to obtain suitable service for the first SIM channel and the second radio system (30) is at least one of: (i) providing at least some service on the second SIM channel for the device (10), and (ii) capable of searching for service for the first radio system (20).
