Le procédé de sélection de domaine pour les utilisateurs appelés comprend les étapes suivantes : le HSS obtient le type de service de l'appel et de la session entre les utilisateurs appelants et les utilisateurs appelés dans le domaine de sous-système multimédia IP (IMS) ; le HSS établit le statut d'enregistrement et/ou le type de terminal des utilisateurs appelés dans le domaine IMS ; le HSS interroge l'enregistreur de localisation nominal (HLR) afin d'obtenir le statut d'enregistrement des utilisateurs appelés dans le domaine à commutation de circuits (CS) ; le HSS achemine l'appel conformément au statut d'enregistrement établi des utilisateurs appelés dans le domaine IMS, au type de service de la session et/ou au type de terminal, ainsi qu'au statut d'enregistrement des utilisateurs appelés dans le domaine CS. L'invention permet de remédier au problème technique lié à la sélection de réseau des utilisateurs appelés si ceux-ci enregistrent le même numéro de téléphone dans plusieurs domaines différents, en configurant le HSS de manière à ce qu'il interroge le HLR afin d'obtenir le statut d'enregistrement des utilisateurs appelés dans le domaine CS et en combinant le type de service des utilisateurs appelants.
