Description

PRINTED CIRCUIT BOARD FOR HOUSEHOLD APPLIANCES
The present invention relates to a printed circuit board that is suitable for using in household appliances.
Triacs located in the printed circuit boards used in household appliances, for example in washing machines, are used for driving components in the household appliance, operated with electrical energy such as motor, pump, valve, fan and heater. Triacs are semiconducting electronic circuit elements that can control high-value currents (such as 1 – 25 A) with low-value triggering currents (such as 3-50 mA). The microprocessor located on the printed circuit board triggers the triacs through their gate electrodes by means of peripherals such as resistor, capacitor decreasing the current level in order to drive the triacs and provides the triacs to operate household appliance components whereto they are connected. The microprocessor located on the printed circuit board is composed of a core wherein the software is installed, the memory unit and other electronic control units, all integrated into a plastic package. Communication between the microprocessor and other components on the printed circuit board is realized by means of the pins arranged around the microprocessor package. The microprocessor communicates with other electronic components located on the printed circuit board (PCB) by means of the pins and the conductive lines. The conductive lines extend between the microprocessor pins and the peripherals and the triacs, and commands of the microprocessor are transmitted to the triacs by the conductive lines and the peripherals. The conductive lines between the microprocessor and the peripherals and the triacs being long causes the dimensions of the printed circuit board to increase, moreover the said conductive lines adversely affect the immunity of the printed circuit board. The printed circuit board is exposed to the undesired electromagnetic wave diffusions coming from the mains whereto the household appliance is connected; moreover, the electromagnetic waves diffused by the printed circuit board to the mains adversely affect the operation of other appliances that are present in the same place as the household appliance.
In the United States Patent Application No. US2010122841, a printed circuit board is described, used in an electronic household appliance, whereon the microprocessor and other electronic components are arranged.
In the United States Patent Application No. US2009165833, the program control module used in a dishwasher is described.
In the United States Patent No. US7475444, a washing machine and the control method thereof are described.
In the United States Patent No. US5735007, an automatic door opening/closing apparatus and a power supply system used in washing machines are described.
The aim of the present invention is the realization of a printed circuit board, of which the dimensions are decreased and of which the immunity against the electromagnetic wave diffusions in its environment is increased.
The printed circuit board realized in order to attain the aim of the present invention, explicated in the first claim and the respective claims thereof, suitable for using in household appliances, comprises a microprocessor wherein the programs and software are installed, triacs that drive components operated with electrical energy, such as motor, pump with appropriate current values and peripherals triggering the triacs such as resistor and capacitor, and the triacs and the peripherals are integrated into a single microprocessor package. The conductive lines providing communication between the triacs and the peripherals are also integrated into the microprocessor package. A significant number of the electronic components occupying space on the printed circuit board is put into a single unit together with the microprocessor.
A core which is the brain of the microprocessor and composed of semiconductor structures and various electronic units such as memory (RAM, ROM), current measuring, control, input-out control unit (I/O) are present in the microprocessor package, and in the embodiment of the present invention, the said units are integrated into the same package together with the triacs and the related peripherals.
In an embodiment of the present invention, the triac pins connected to the output electrode of the triacs are arranged around the microprocessor package together with the other pins. The triac pins are arranged at one side of the microprocessor package or at least one triac pin is integrated at each side of the package. Carrying high-value current, the triac pins are wider than the other pins around the microprocessor package.
In another embodiment of the present invention, the mains voltage measuring circuit and the zero-crossing detecting circuit that regulate the operation of the triacs are integrated into the microprocessor package.
The printed circuit board is used in household appliances such as washing machine, laundry dryer, dishwasher, cooking device and refrigerator.
Since the triacs and the related peripherals are integrated into a single microprocessor package in the printed circuit board of the present invention, the conductive lines between the triacs and the peripherals are shortened, thus decreasing the dimensions of the printed circuit board. The shortening of the conductive lines provides the printed circuit board to be less affected by the electromagnetic waves in the environment and provides to decrease the noises of the electromagnetic waves generated by the printed circuit board to solve the EMC - electromagnetic compatibility problem and increases the immunity of the printed circuit board against the electromagnetic wave diffusions.
