Abstract

A tank based storage power plant (100) is provided, comprising a tank (4) disposed in a liquid reservoir, comprising a venting pipe (3), the one end of which is connected to the tank (4) and the other end of which projects above the surface of the liquid of the liquid reservoir when the latter is filled to the maximum, and comprising a connecting pipe (7), which connects the interior of the tank (4) to a pump (6), such that liquid can be pumped out from the interior of the tank (4) and, when it flows back into the tank (4) through the connecting pipe (7), can drive a generator via a turbine, wherein the interior of the tank (4) is filled with a bulk material (13), and so liquid can be stored in the tank (4) in interspaces between bulk material particles, the density of the bulk material (13) being greater than the density of the liquid, and a method for producing such a tank based storage power plant.
