Abstract

A wind turbine generator system is proposed, comprising a rotor which rotates on a rotor axis and the rotor blades (1) of which are respectively supported in a swivel bearing (5) on the rotor shaft (2) or on a turntable (3), which is arranged on the rotor shaft (2) so as to be rotatable about the pitch axis (4). The rotor blades (1) can be fixed in the direction of the rotor shaft (2) in the swivelling position by an adjustable support, wherein the swivel bearing (5) and the support allow a swivelling movement of the rotor blades (1) by an angle α greater than 50° or greater than 60° or greater than 70° and less than 90°, where α is equal to zero in the working position of the rotor blades (1) during normal operation. In this way it is ensured that, in the case of storms, the rotor blades (1) are folded out of the wind and, by disconnecting the azimuth drive, can swing back and forth until remaining oriented in the direction of the wind in a manner similar to wind vanes.
