Abstract
The LED driver comprises: a power supply portion for supplying an input voltage; an inductor for receiving the input voltage and charging energy from the input voltage, wherein the energy drives at least one LED; a control portion for outputting a control signal based on the input voltage and an inductor current which flows in the inductor; and a switch, which is switched according to the control signal, for supplying the charged energy to the LEDs. When compared to existing boost converter-type LED drivers, the present invention allows direct control on an input current, rather than controlling an output voltage, by eliminating a capacitor element, which is connected in parallel to an output end of the LED, and a rectifier diode which is serially connected between the inductor and one end of the LED, thereby improving the power factor.
