Abstract
A method of operating a steam generation plant arranged to burn a fuel including at least some biomass, the plant including a boiler (10) and a dump condenser system (29,59) provided (in part) in a flue gas path leading from the boiler (10) to a stack and comprising a flue gas moisture condensing arrangement (59) to extract latent heat of condensation from the flue gas and a dump cooler (29) external to the flue gas path. A pump (85) circulates liquid coolant around a coolant circulation path extending through the flue gas moisture condensing arrangement (59) and the dump cooler (29). A heat transfer agent (air) is supplied to the dump cooler (29) to remove heat from the liquid coolant circulating therethrough. At least one of the supply of the heat transfer agent and the circulation of liquid coolant by the pump (85) is controlled to regulate the quantity of condensate produced by the flue gas moisture condensing arrangement (59).
