Abstract
A controller for a transformer having a transformation ratio, wherein the transformer has an input configured to receive an AC power source and an output configured to provide an output voltage for a load system. The controller is configured to operate the transformer in a step-down mode of operation by automatically setting the transformation ratio in accordance with the output voltage of the transformer and a target voltage; operate the transformer in an equalized-voltage mode of operation by setting the transformation ratio such that power is supplied to the load system without stepping down the AC power source; and determine the amount of power consumed during the step-down mode of operation and the equalized-voltage mode of operation.
