Abstract

The present invention includes methods and transgenic plants that exhibit enhanced rates of carbon fixation and improved carbohydrate content. In one aspect, such methods and transgenic plants are created through the overexpression of membrane associated bicarbonate transporters in conjunction with a highly active carbonic anhydrase.
