Abstract

The invention relates to a temple for eyeglasses and a method for producing a temple for eyeglasses; the rod (1) is formed by a substantially elongated body having a distal free end and a proximal end to be associated to the eyeglass frame, said temple being provided with a channel (10) for housing a support wire, said channel (10) for housing the wire (4) being constituted by a groove open in correspondence of face of the temple.

Temple for eyeglasses and method for the ptempleuction of a temple.
DESCRIPTION
The present invention concerns the technical sector of eyeglasses and accessories for eyeglasses. In particular, the invention relates to a temple for eyeglass and a method for the ptempleuction of a temple.
The term "wire" or "support wire" used in this description indicates a long and thin body made of rope, chain, string, elastic band, flexible wire or other material, intended to support the glasses around the neck of the user for holding the glasses in correspondence of the ends of the temples.
Are known support wires which are fixed to the ends of the temples of glasses in order to allow to take off the glasses without losing the same because said wires keep the eyeglasses hung around the neck like a necklace. Thanks to these wires, when the user remove the glasses, rather than support them on a table, the glasses are kept hung around the neck, supported by the support wire, which passes behind the neck and supports the rim fixed at both ends of the temples.
The support wires of known type are entirely separated from the temples and have the drawback of being inconvenient in use. A first reason is that it is necessary to remember to take said wires together with the glasses and to associate them to the glasses; a second reason is that, when the glasses are stored or are worn, the wire can constitute a hindrance, or can be knotted resulting uncomfortable for storing with folded rim.
The drawbacks of the support wires of the type mentioned above have been removed with the solutions described in WO-99/026105 and WO-2008/142722.
According to the solutions described in these documents, the problem relating to the association of the wire to the glasses has been solved, but the temple is relatively complex to be manufactured and to be assembled; in addition, some operations such as, for example, the insertion and the replacement of the wire is relatively difficult.
The present invention relates to a temple and to a manufacturing method of a temple in which the wire for supporting the eyeglasses is partially contained in the temple.
The main aim of the present invention is to eliminate the above mentioned drawbacks and to provide an improved temple which partially contains the supporting wire and which is easy to ptempleuce and convenient to assembly. The invention also relates to a method of realization of the temple which is extremely simple and effective.
Among the advantages deriving from the present invention are the following:
- the temple has an "open" channel for the housing of the wire, i.e. a seat for the wire, which is easily accessible from the outside; in this way is extremely facilitated the fixing of the wire to the glasses because the seat is open and accessible to substantially the whole extension of the face of the temple, to allow an extraction of the wire extremely facilitated; in other words, the wire can be inttempleuced into the groove with a movement substantially parallel to its longitudinal extension;
- the area for fixing the hinge is not affected by the channel for the wire and, therefore, the mounting of the glasses is extremely easy, even for the relatively great width of the zone for application of the hinge;
- the temple is formed by a first part or base, which is provided with a cavity that defines the external profile of the channel of the wire, and by a second part, which is inserted into the cavity of the first part so as to complete the profile of the channel of the wire, defining the inner portion; the construction and installation of the temple are therefore extremely facilitated;
- the first and the second part of the temple, once joined together, define a seat for the ends of the wire provided with means which allow its stable fixing, by means of clamping.
The characteristics of the invention and the advantages derived therefrom will appear more apparent from the following description which is referred to the non-limiting of the invention shown in the accompanying drawings, wherein:
- Fig 1 is a plan view of a temple, in which is visible in the channel for the wire, channel which is open upwards;
- Fig 2 is a perspective view of a detail of the proximal part of the temple, i.e. the area for the hinge;
- Figs. 3, 4, 5 and 6 are perspective views (with a particular even in a plan view in Fig.6) relating to particulars of the embodiment of the temple of the previous figures.
With reference to the attached figures, the temple (1) is of the type formed by a substantially elongated body with a free distal end and a proximal end to be fixed to the frame of the glasses; the temple (1) is provided with a channel (10) for the housing of a support wire (4) and it is characterized in that the said channel (10) for housing the wire (4) is formed by a groove open in correspondence of a face of the temple. In practice, when the temple is in configuration of use, the channel (10) is accessible because it is open for almost substantially all of its totality towards the face of the temple (1). For functional and aesthetic reasons, it is preferable that the channel is accessible from the face of the temple facing the interior, i.e. towards the head of the user. The width of the channel (10) will be suitably dimensioned according the diameter of the wire (4); in other words, it is preferable that the wire (4) can be inserted in the channel (10) through a slight forcing, so as to prevent it from not desired escaping.
Differently for the temples described in the prior documents mentioned above (WO- 99/026105 and WO-2008/142722), the temple of the present invention allows to extract and insert the wire into its seat with a frontal access on the face of the temple, preferably the face arranged inside, that is facing the user's head. On the contrary, with the temples of the prior art documents, the wire must be threaded into its seat through a hole disposed at the distal end and/or the proximal end of the temple. In practice, while according to the previous known solutions the wire must be inserted into its seat, making pass the same wire through a hole, the present invention allows to "lean" the wire, along its longitudinal development, onto the seat (which is open) and to push it in the seat with a slight forcing. Also the extraction of the wire from the seat is extremely facilitated because the same wire can be extracted from a any portion (open) of the seat.
Advantageously, the body of the temple (1) is formed by two parts (2, 3) joined together. The first part or base (2) is provided with a cavity delimited by the outer profile (20) of the said channel (10) for the wire, while the second part (3) is disposed within the cavity of the base (2) so as to complete said channel (10) defining the profile internal (30).
Preferably, the first part (2) or the second part (3) are provided with at least one protrusion or tooth (5) disposed on its face intended to be directed towards the other part of the temple (1) when the temple is in the configuration of use, so as to define a restraining means to constrain the free end (40) of the wire.
In addition, the first part (2) and/or the second part (3) may be provided with an additional cavity disposed on its face intended to face towards the other part of the temple (1) when the temple is in configuration of use, so as to define an additional channel (100) for the housing of the end (40) of the wire. As better shown in the detail of Fig.6, during the fixing of the wire to the temple, the free end (40) of the wire (4), when has been extracted from the opening of the channel (10), arranged on the left in the drawing, is inserted into the supplemental channel (100); in this way, the protrusions or teeth (5) determine a clamping of the wire (4) which is therefore blocked.
A method for the production of a temple for eyeglasses according to the invention provides to realize the body of the temple (1) into two parts (2, 3) joined together, forming a first part or base (2) with a cavity delimited by the outer profile (20) of said channel (10) for the wire and a second part (3), which is arranged inside the cavity of the base (2) so as to complete said channel (10) defining the inner profile (30) and leaving the same channel (10) open towards the outside.
Advantageously, the method provides that said first part (2) or said second part (3) are provided with at least one protrusion or tooth (5) disposed on its face intended to be directed towards the other part of the temple (1) when the temple is in configuration of use, so as to define a restraining means to constrain the free ends (40) of the wire. Furthermore, the method can comprise to realize the first part (2) and / or the second part (3) provided with an additional cavity disposed on the own face intended to be directed towards the other part of the temple (1) when the temple is in configuration of use, so as to define an additional channel (100) for the housing end (40) of the wire.
According to a possible embodiment, the method of the invention provides that the two parts (2, 3) are coupled by ultrasonic welding.
Naturally, the invention is not limited to those described and illustrated, but can be greatly varied, especially as regards construction, without coming out from the inventive teaching above described and claimed below.

Claims

1) Temple for eyeglasses formed of a substantially elongated body having a free distal end and a proximal end to be associated to the eyeglass frame, said temple being provided with a channel for housing a support wire and being characterized in that said channel (10) for housing the wire (4) is constituted by a groove which is open in correspondence of a face of the temple, the wire being inserted into said groove with a shift substantially parallel to its longitudinal extension.
2) Temple for eyeglasses according to claim 1 characterized in that the body of the temple (1) consists of two parts (2, 3) joined together: a first part or base (2) is provided with a cavity delimited by the outer profile (20) of said channel (10) for the wire and a second part (3) is placed inside the cavity of the base (2) in order to complete said channel (10) so defining the inner profile ( 30).
3) Temple for eyeglasses according to claim 2 characterized in that said first part (2) or said second part (3) are provided with at least one protrusion or tooth (5) on its face intended to be facing to the other part of the temple (1) when the temple is in configuration of use, so as to define a fixing means to block the free end (40) of the wire.
4) Temple for eyeglasses according to claim 3 characterized in that said first part (2) and/or said second part (3) are provided with an additional cavity placed on the face intended to be facing the other part of the temple (1) when the temple is in use, in order to define an additional channel (100) for the housing of the end (40) of the wire.
5) Temple for eyeglasses according to one of claims 2 to 4 characterized in that the two parts (2, 3) are coupled by means of ultrasonic welding.
6) Method for producing a temple for eyeglasses formed of a substantially elongated body with a free distal end and a proximal end to associate with the eyeglass frame, said temple being provided with a channel for housing a support wire; method characterized in realizing the body of the temple (1) in two parts (2, 3) joined together, forming a first part or base (2) with a cavity delimited by the outer profile (20) of said channel (10) for the wire and a second part (3), which is placed inside the cavity of the base (2) in order to complete the said channel (10) defining the inner profile (30), leaving the same channel (10) open to the outside.
7) Method according to claim 6, characterized in that said first part (2) or said second part (3) are provided with at least one protrusion or tooth (5) on its face intended to be facing to the other part of the temple (1) when the temple is in configuration of use, so as to define a fixing means to block the free end (40) of the wire.
8) Method according to claim 7, characterized in that the said first part (2) and/or said second part (3) are provided with an additional cavity placed on the face intended to be facing the other part of the temple (1) when the temple is in use, in order to define an additional channel (100) for the housing of the end (40) of the wire.
9) Method according to one of claims 6 to 8, characterized in that the two parts (2, 3) are coupled by means of ultrasonic welding.
