Description
Automotive platform
The invention refers to an automotive platform that enables easy access of staff to hard accessible locations during fighting, operative and rescue actions.
The present art platform is described in the Patent Application No. US 5,832,667 Bl . The platform has a frame located above the vehicle that is attached to the front and rear part of the vehicles with use of support brackets. The platform comprises the ramps that are rotationally attached to the frame and that comprise an extendable module located below the main plane of the ramp when it is retracted. The ramps are extended by means of a hydraulic system that comprises pumps and cylinders. The platform is provided with ladders, holders, railings and foldable stairs. The platform described in he patent description WO 2009/025642 Al has a plurality of supporting brackets that are attached to the front and rear part of the vehicle, a landing plate fixed to the platform frame located above the vehicle, where the landing plate has flat surface and foldable stairs are attached thereto with use of hinges. The stairs have a frame whereas steps, supports for feet and railings are attached to that frame. Said supports for feet remain in the horizontal position when stairs move between the folded and unfolded positions so that the supports for feet are integrated with the platform plane and make up a uniform surface with the platform plane when the stairs are folded. The platform is located above the roof surface and he roof is capable to support the stairs in the unfolded position.
According to another patent description No. WO/2001/09791 the platform is fixed in parallel to the automobile roof with use of support brackets and attached to the front and rear parts of the vehicle. The ramp for personnel is adjustable in the vertical direction and fixed to the platform, where landing planes, the first holder and the second holder are separate segment
components. The ramp has telescopic props that stretch from the hydraulic raising mechanism to the hydraulically elevated platform.
The objective of the present invention is development of the platform provided with an improved system for vertical displacements.
The platform according to the present invention has a rear prop attached to the vehicle frame in the rear part of the vehicle. The bracket holds two rear support members and foldable rear step attached to the prop. In addition, a front prop is attached to the vehicle frame behind the front axle. The front prop holds front support members attached thereto. Subsequently, the main load- bearing frame is attached to the front and rear support members. The main load-bearing is made of aluminium alloys in the form of two I-beams welded one to another. The main load-bearing frame serves as a support for brackets of scissor mechanisms designed to elevate the fighting platform. The brackets are located in the front and rear parts of the main load-bearing frame, right above the vehicle axes. The scissor mechanisms are provided with double- action hydraulic cylinders. The fighting platform is rotationally attached to the scissor mechanisms in two points. The scissor mechanisms enable to raise independently either front or rear parts of the fighting platform, which makes it possible to slope the platform to front or to rear directions, or to lift the platform up. The fighting platform is provided with a telescopically extendable part that is driven by a separate hydraulic cylinder and, when retracted, remains in between the platform deck. The fighting platform has a footbridge that is pivotally attached to the fighting platform end and can be locked in several positions. Preferably the footbridge if provided with facilities where additional equipment can be mounted. Preferably the fighting platform is provided with detachable railings and a portion of the railing above the extendable part is telescopically extendable. Preferably the cylinders within the hydraulic system are supplied from a separate electrohydraulic power unit. Preferably the power unit is controlled by means of an electric circuit whilst
control panels are located nearby the ingress to the working platform and inside the driver's cabin.
Application of a doubled scissor mechanism for raising the platform structure makes it possible to arrange the fighting platform in various positions: to slope the platform upwards with rotation against the swivel point deployed in the rear part of the platform that enables access to higher floors of buildings, to slope the platform upwards with rotation against the swivel point deployed in the front part of the platform that enables crossing walls or fencings with no need to use ladders or traveling a pyrotechnical robot and therefore the robot can be easily delivered on board of an airplane. Moreover, the load bearing structure of the platform is fixed to the vehicle chassis behind the front axle and behind the rear axle, which displaces the gravity centre of the structure backwards and alleviate load to the front axle, which is favourable for improved weight distribution and controllability of the vehicle.
The subject of the invention is shown in its preferred embodiment on drawings, where Fig. 1 presents the general view of the platform (elevation), Fig. 2 - the platform positioned at an angle with respect to the vehicle roof to raised at front part of the vehicle, Fig. 3 - the platform positioned at an angle with respect to the vehicle roof to raised at rear part of the vehicle and Fig. 4 - the platform raised and positioned horizontally to the vehicle roof.
Example. The platform has a rear prop 3 fixed to the chassis frame 1 of the vehicle 2 disposed in the rear part of the vehicle, where two rear support brackets 4 and foldable rear step 5 are fixed to the prop 3. The front prop 7 is fixed to the frame 1 of the vehicle 2 behind the front axle. Front support brackets 8 are attached to the front prop 7. Front support brackets 8 and rear support brackets serve as a structure whereto the main lead-bearing frame 9 is fixed. Brackets 10 of scissor mechanisms 1 1 designed to raise the fighting platform 12 are attached to the main frame 9. Brackets 10 are deployed in the front and rear parts of the main load-bearing frame 9, roughly right above
axles of the vehicle 6. Scissor mechanisms 1 1 are provided with double-action hydraulic cylinders. The fighting platform 12 is rotationally attached to the scissor mechanisms 1 1 in two points 14. The scissor mechanisms 1 1 enable to raise independently either front or rear parts of the fighting platform 12, which makes it possible to slope the fighting platform 12 to front or to rear directions, or to lift the platform up. The fighting platform 12 is provided with a telescopically extendable part 15. That telescopically extendable part 15 is driven with a hydraulic cylinder. That telescopically extendable part 15, when retracted, remains in between the platform deck of the fighting platform 12. The fighting platform has a footbridge 16 that is pivotally attached to the end of the fighting platform 12 and can be locked in several positions. The footbridge 16 if provided with facilities 17 where additional equipment can be mounted. The fighting platform 12 is provided with detachable railings 18 and a portion of the railing 18 above the extendable part 15 is telescopically extendable. The cylinders 13 within the hydraulic system are supplied from a separate electrohydraulic power unit. The power unit is controlled by means of an electric circuit whilst control panels are located nearby the ingress to the working platform and inside the driver's cabin 2.
