Abstract

L'invention concerne un déflecteur balistique comprenant une couche d'abrasion et d'impact pour dévier des balles et une ou plusieurs couches de matériau à dissipation d'énergie. La couche d'abrasion et d'impact absorbe l'impact d'un projectile tandis que le matériau à dissipation d'énergie en disperse l'énergie pour réduire ou éliminer le risque qu'une balle pénètre la couche d'abrasion et d'impact. Le déflecteur composite permet d'utiliser des déflecteurs plus légers, moins onéreux et/ou présentant des caractéristiques de performance améliorées comparativement à des déflecteurs classiques à simple couche.
