Abstract
In order to control a printing process, in which incoming print data structured on a page-by-page basis are processed in a data processing system to form actuation values for a printing device: at least one electronic storage device having a predetermined storage capacity is provided in the data processing system, in which device the print data and/or the actuation values are buffered in associated storage regions; on request, the actuation values are output to the printing device; print images are printed on a recording medium in the printing device in accordance with the actuation values; and the print speed with which the printing device generates the print images is controlled in accordance with variables which are characteristic of the speed of processing the print data.
