Abstract

The utility model relates to a plastic-box arrangement for packaging core samples, for use in geology. The plastic-box arrangement comprises a planar base (1), smooth external walls (2) and partition walls (3) that define the compartments for each sample. The bases of each compartment (1) have holes (11) at the ends. The tops of the external walls (2) of the box have broad edges (21), and are engraved with a metric scale (22) for direct reading-off of the sample length. The tops of the external walls (2) also have an internal recess (23) for engagement of the edges of the base of the box stacked on top. The partition walls (3) of the compartments undulate, with long radii, in order to apply pressure to and to hold the stored samples.

The present utility model refers to an innovative constructive arrangement introduced in a plastic box for the storage of drill core to be used in geology activities.

The meaning of survey testimony, according to the Wikipedia online encyclopedia, is:

- "Drill core is a cylindrical section of a natural material occurring with sufficient consistency to preserve its structures and layers. Most drill core is obtained by drilling into a medium, eg rock or sediment, from a hollow steel tube called a corer. "

In the area of geology, in particular in mineral exploration drilling activities, the boxes used for storage and transportation of core cores are generally made of wood. However, these boxes have the following drawbacks:

- employ an environmentally unsuitable material because it consumes a large volume of wood, which encourages deforestation;

- has low mechanical strength, especially if the long case length and the high density of cores leading to high weight are taken into account;

- presents an unstable stacking, since the boxes are not interlocked;

- requires filler material to lock the side bearing of the cores as they are cylindrical;

- results in short housing life.

Therefore, the object of the present utility model is an innovative constructive arrangement introduced in a plastic box for the storage of drill core that is capable of effectively overcome said prior art limitations. The arrangement comprises a flat base box, flat side walls and partition walls defining the compartments for each core. Compartment bases have holes in the ends. The tops of the outer walls have wide edges with engraved metric scale. The tops of the outer walls also have an inner recess for snapping the edges of the base of the box being stacked. The partition walls of the compartments are wavy with long radii to press and retain stored cores.

Preferably, the raw material employed in box injection is polypropylene (PP), which may be virgin or recycled.

The plastic box arrangement for sounding core packaging proposed by this utility model results in the following functional improvements in use and manufacturing:

- Employs material that can be recycled later, causing no harm to the environment;

- can be injected into recycled material, absorbing material discarded in nature, reducing this environmental litigation;

- has satisfactory mechanical strength, reducing damage during use and extending its service life;

- features stable and secure stacking, with a capacity for stacking over 10 boxes;

- dispenses filler material to lock the side bearing of the cores, as the partition walls are corrugated;

- has holes in the compartments for water flow from the cores;

- has a metric scale engraved on the edges, allowing direct reading of core length.

- wide edges (21) with metric scale (22) engraved on the tops of the outer walls (2) of the box;

- an inner recess (23) at the tops of the outer walls (2) of the box;

- partition walls (3) of corrugated compartments with long radii.
