Description

위치 측정을 위한 액세스 포인트 정보의 현행화 방법 및 장치
본 발명은, Wireless LAN(Local Area Network) 서비스를 위한 액세스 포인트를 이용한 위치 측정 기술에 관한 것으로, 보다 구체적으로, 액세스 포인트를 이용한 위치 측정에 있어서 상기 액세스 포인트의 정보를 현행화(Update)하는 방법 및 이를 위한 장치에 관한 것이다.
본 출원은 2010년 12월 21일에 출원된 한국특허출원 제10-2010-0131608호에 기초한 우선권을 주장하며, 해당 출원의 명세서 및 도면에 개시된 모든 내용은 본 출원에 원용된다.
이동통신기술의 발전과 더불어 통신망에서 이동 단말(Mobile Terminal)의 위치를 측정하는 위치 측정 기술이 활발하게 연구되고 있다. 대표적으로, 인공 위성을 이용한 GPS(Global Positioning System) 위치 측정 기술이 이용되고 있다.
GPS 위치 측정 기술은 이동 단말에 GPS 수신기를 장착해야 하는 문제점이 있다. 또한 GPS 위치 측정 기술은 미국 국방성에서 군사용으로 개발된 것으로, 정밀도가 높은 GPS 위치 측정 기술은 공개되어 있지 않다. 그리고, GPS 위치 측위 기술은, 빌딩 예를 들어 집, 사무실 또는 샵 등 위성 신호를 수신할 수 없는 실내에서는 이용될 수 없는 한계가 있다. 이러한 단점을 극복하기 위해, 무선 랜 서비스(WLAN:Wireless LAN)를 위한 액세스 포인트(Access Point)를 이용하여 단말의 위치를 측위하려는 시도가 전개되고 있다.
무선 랜 서비스는 이동 단말의 사용자가 노트북, PDA(Personal Digital Assistants), 스마트폰 등 무선랜 카드가 탑재된 이동 단말의 근거리에 설치된 무선랜 액세스 포인트를 통해 이동 중에 무선 인터넷을 이용할 수 있도록 한다. 최근 이러한 WLAN 서비스에 대한 수요가 증가하여 대형 쇼핑몰과 같은 건물 내부에 많은 수의 액세스 포인트들이 설치되고 있다.
상기와 같은 액세스 포인트들이 실내에 많은 수가 설치됨에 따라 이러한 액세스 포인트들을 이용하면 GPS 위치 측정 기술이 적용되지 못하는 실내에서도 이동 단말에 대한 위치 측정이 가능해진다.
이에 따라 최근에는 WLAN 서비스를 위한 액세스 포인트를 이용한 위치 측정 기술이 활발하게 연구되고 있다.
본 발명은 WLAN 서비스를 위한 액세스 포인트를 이용하여 통신 단말의 위치를 측정하는데 있어서 상기 액세스 포인트의 정보를 현행화(update)하는 방법 및 장치를 제공하는데 그 목적이 있다.
본 발명의 다른 특징들은 하기의 설명에 의해서 이해될 수 있으며, 본 발명의 실시예에 의해 보다 분명해질 것이다.

최근에는 스마트폰의 기능(즉, 동작)이 향상되어 스마트폰을 휴대하고 있는 사용자들이 증가하고 있다. 이러한 스마트폰에 고속의 인터넷 서비스를 원활하게 제공하기 위해 많은 수의 액세스 포인트가 설치되고 있다. 이와 같이, 유동 인구가 많은 곳에는 다수의 액세스 포인트가 설치(즉, 위치)되고 있기 때문에, 위치 측정에서 액세스 포인트의 이용이 증가하고 있다. 서비스 반경이 넓은 기지국을 이용한 위치 측정보다는 서비스 반경이 좁은 액세스 포인트를 이용하여 위치를 측정하면 그 정확도가 더욱 향상된다.
한편, 도 1에 도시된 바와 같이, GPS 위성(170)이 상공에 위치하여 통신 단말의 GPS 위치 정보를 제공한다.
도 2는 본 발명의 일 실시예에 따른 위치 측정 시스템의 네트워크 구성을 나타낸 도면이다.
도 2를 참조하면, WLAN 서비스를 제공하는 액세스 포인트(AP)(290-1,..., 290-N)와 이동통신서비스를 제공하는 기지국(200-1,..., 200-N)이 네트워크 구조에 제공된다. 도 1에 도시된 바와 같이, 액세스 포인트(AP)(290-1,..., 290-N)와 기지국(200-1,..., 200-N)은 그 커버리지 영역이 서로 중첩될 수 있다. 기지국의 커버리지 영역이 더 크기 때문에 기지국 내에 다수의 액세스 포인트(AP)가 위치할 수 있다.
상기 액세스 포인트(AP)(290-1,..., 290-N)는 유선 인터넷망(210)과 연결되어 인터넷 서비스를 제공한다. 상기 기지국(200-1,..., 200-N)은 이동통신망(230)과 연결되어 이동통신서비스를 제공한다. 유선 인터넷망(210)과 이동통신망(230)은 상호 연동한다. 또한, 도 2를 참조하면, 위치 측정 시스템은 유선 인터넷망(210) 및 이동통신망(230)과 연결된 위치 측정 서버(250) 그리고 그 위치 측정 서버(250)에서 관리하는 액세스 포인트 정보 DB(270)를 포함한다.
액세스 포인트 정보 DB(270)는, 실내/외에 설치(즉 위치하는)된 액세스 포인트들의 식별정보(예컨대, MAC(Media Access Control) 주소, SSID(Service Set Identifier) 등)와 실제 설치 위치의 좌표 정보를 저장한다. 또한 액세스 포인트 정보 DB(270)는, 액세스 포인트 정보 수집 단말이 이동하며, 즉 액세스 포인트 정보 수집 단말이 다양한 위치에서 수집한 위치별 액세스 포인트 정보를 저장한다. 상기 위치별 액세스 포인트 정보는, 상기 액세스 포인트 정보 수집 단말이 이동하며 일정한 주기로 수집한 수집 위치 정보, 수집 위치에서 검출된 액세스 포인트들의 식별정보 및 신호 세기, 기지국 식별정보들을 포함한다 이에 관해서는 자세히 후술한다.
위치 측정 서버(250)는, 특정 통신 단말에 대한 위치 측정 요청이 수신되면, 그 통신 단말이 위치하고 있는 기지국(200-1,..., 200-N)의 식별정보와 그 통신 단말이 접속하고 있는 액세스 포인트(290-1,..., 290-N)의 식별정보를 이용하여 상기 통신 단말의 위치를 측정한다. 위치 측정 서버(250)의 위치 측정 방법에 관해서는 자세히 후술한다.
도 3은 본 발명의 일 실시예에 따른 위치별 액세스 포인트 정보 수집 방법을 설명하는 도면이다.
도 3에 도시된 바와 같이, 액세스 포인트 정보 수집 단말이 장착된 차량(310)은 도로 곳곳을 이동하며 일정한 시간 주기로 주변 액세스 포인트의 신호를 측정하여 정보를 수집한다. 액세스 포인트 정보 수집 단말이 수집하는 정보는, 수집 시간, 수집 위치 정보(예컨대, 위도 및 경도), 그 수집 위치에서 측정된 주변에서 신호를 송출하는 액세스 포인트들의 식별정보(예컨대, MAC 주소)와 신호 세기(예컨대, RSSI(Received Signal Strength Indication)), 그리고 해당 수집 위치를 커버링하는 기지국의 식별정보(예컨대 셀 ID, 또는 PN(Pseudo Noise) 코드)를 포함한다.
도 3을 참조하면, A 포인트 지점에서, 차량(310)에 장착된 액세스 포인트 정보 수집 단말은 그 A 포인트 지점에서 신호가 잡히는 액세스 포인트의 정보를 수집한다. 예를 들어, 액세스 포인트 정보 수집 단말은, 그 A 포인트 지점의 위도 및 경도 정보, 그리고 그 시점의 수집 시간, 그리고 A 포인트 지점에서 신호가 검출되는 액세스 포인트들의 MAC 주소와 신호 세기(RSSI) 그리고 A 포인트 지점을 커버하는 기지국의 식별정보를 수집한다. 이와 같이 액세스 포인트 정보 수집 단말은, 차량이 이동하는 동안 일정한 시간 주기(예컨대, 1분 단위)로 각 포인트 지점에서 탐색되는 액세스 포인트들의 정보를 수집한다.
도 4는 본 발명의 일 실시예에 따른 위치별 액세스 포인트 정보의 테이블을 나타낸 도면이다. 도 3을 참조하여 설명한 바와 같이, 액세스 포인트 정보 수집 단말은 이동하며 일정한 시간 주기로 주변 액세스 포인트 정보를 수집하고, 그 수집된 위치별 액세스 포인트 정보는 도 4와 같다. 도 4에 도시된 바와 같이, 테이블은, 시간 필드(410), 위치 필드(430), MAC 주소 필드(450), RSSI 필드(470) 및 셀 ID 필드(490)를 포함한다.
상기 시간 필드(410)는 액세스 포인트 정보 수집 단말이 액세스 포인트 정보를 수집한 시간이 기록된다. 상기 위치 필드(430)는 액세스 포인트의 정보가 수집된 시점에서의 액세스 포인트 정보 수집 단말의 수집 위치 정보(위도 및 경도 정보)가 기록되며, MAC 주소 필드(450)는 상기 수집 위치에서 확인되는 액세스 포인트들의 MAC 주소가 기록된다. RSSI 필드(470)는 상기 수집 위치에서 확인되는 액세스 포인트로부터 수신된 신호의 세기가 기록되고, 셀 ID 필드(490)는 액세스 포인트의 정보가 수집된 시점에서의 액세스 포인트 정보 수집 단말의 수집 위치를 커버하는 기지국의 셀 ID가 기록된다. 도 4에서 기지국의 셀 ID가 하나만 기록되는 것으로 도시되어 있으나, 셀 경계 지역에서는 복수의 셀 ID가 검출되어 기록될 수도 있다.
본 실시예에 따른 위치 측정 방법에 따르면 액세스 포인트를 이용하여 통신 단말의 위치를 측위하기 위해서는 액세스 포인트가 물리적으로 설치된 설치 위치 좌표를 알고 있어야 한다. 통신사가 자체적으로 설치한 액세스 포인트(160)들은 통신사에서 설치 위치 좌표를 보유하고 있다. 그러나 개인 사용자에 의해 설치된 사설 액세스 포인트는 통신사로 보고되지 않는다. 이러한 사설 액세스 포인트의 설치 위치 좌표는 해당 사설 액세스 포인트를 설치한 설치자에게 확인하지 않고서는 알 수 없다. 따라서, 도 3을 참조하여 설명한 바와 같이, 액세스 포인트 정보 수집 단말이 이동하며 수집한 액세스 포인트들 중 설치 위치 좌표가 확인되지 않는 액세스 포인트들의 설치 위치 좌표를 추정할 수 있는 방법이 요구된다. 이하에서는, 발명의 실시예에 따라, 액세스 포인트 정보 수집 단말에 의해 수집된 액세스 포인트들 중 설치 위치 좌표가 확인되지 않는 액세스 포인트들의 설치 위치 좌표를 추정하는 방법을 도 5를 참조하여 설명한다. 즉, 이하에서 액세스 포인트들의 추정된 설치 위치 좌표는 해당 액세스 포인트의 실제 설치 위치 좌표가 아닌 추정된 값에 기초하여 결정된 액세스 포인트의 가상 위치 좌표로 참조된다.
도 5는 본 발명의 일 실시예에 따른 위치 측정 서버에서 액세스 포인트의 가상 위치 좌표를 결정하는 방법을 설명하는 흐름도이다.
도 5를 참조하면, 액세스 포인트 정보 수집 단말은, 도 3 및 도 4를 참조하여 설명한 바와 같이, 저속으로 곳곳을 이동하며 일정한 시간 주기로 주변 액세스 포인트의 신호를 측정하여 정보를 수집한다. 액세스 포인트 정보 수집 단말에 의해 수집된 위치별 액세스 포인트 정보는 상기 액세스 포인트 정보 수집 단말로부터 전송되어 인터넷망(210) 또는 이동통신망(230)을 통해 위치 측정 서버(250)로 수신될 수도 있다. 위치 측정 서버(250)는 상기 액세스 포인트 정보 수집 단말로부터 수신된 위치별 액세스 포인트 정보를 액세스 포인트 정보 DB(270)에 저장한다. 또는, 상기 액세스 포인트 정보 수집 단말에 의해 수집된 위치별 액세스 포인트 정보는 관리자에 의해 액세스 포인트 정보 DB(270)에 저장될 수도 있다.
이와 같이 위치별 액세스 포인트 정보가 수집되고 난 후, 위치 측정 서버(250)는 그 수집된 액세스 포인트의 정보 중 설치 위치 좌표가 확인되지 않는 특정 액세스 포인트의 위치별 수집 정보를 상기 액세스 포인트 정보 DB(270)에서 추출한다(동작 S501). 즉, 상기 특정 액세스 포인트의 정보가 수집되어 있는 위치별 수집 정보를 추출하는 것이다. 예컨대, 도 4에서 MAC 어드레스가 111.112인 액세스 포인트의 정보는, 그룹1, 그룹2, 그룹3, 그룹4, 그룹N-1에 포함되어 있고 그 정보를 추출하는 것이다.
이와 같이 상기 특정 액세스 포인트의 위치별 수집 정보를 추출한 후, 위치 측정 서버(250)는 상기 위치별 수집 정보 중 신호 세기(예컨대, RSSI)를 추출하여 시간 순서로 나열한다(동작 S503). 예컨대, 도 4를 참조하면, MAC 어드레스가 111.112인 액세스 포인트의 신호 세기를 시간 순서로 나열하면, -40dB, -50dB, -80dB, -80dB, -40dB이다.
위치 측정 서버(250)는, 시간 순서대로 상기 특정 액세스 포인트의 신호 세기를 나열한 후, 그 신호 세기의 시간에 따른 변화 추이를 분석하여 상승 변곡점을 추출한다(동작 S505). 여기서 상기 상승 변곡점은 신호 세기가 상승하면서 최고점에 도달하였을 때의 지점이다. 구체적으로, 도 6은 액세스 포인트의 시간에 따른 신호 세기 분포에 기초하여 상승 변곡점을 추출하는 예이다. 도 6에 도시된 바와 같이, 액세스 포인트의 신호 세기를 시간 순서대로 나열하였을 때, 신호 세기가 상승하면서 최고점에 도달한 지점은 A 지점과 C 지점으로, A 지점과 C 지점을 상승 변곡점으로 추출한다.
이와 같이 상승 변곡점이 추출되면, 위치 측정 서버(250)는 그 상승 변곡점의 수집 위치 좌표, 즉 그 상승 변곡점의 신호 세기가 측정되었던 수집 위치 좌표들을 꼭지점으로 하는 다각형(또는 직선)의 중심 좌표를 계산하고 그 계산된 중심 좌표를 해당 특정 액세스 포인트의 가상 위치 좌표로 결정하고 그 가상 위치 좌표를 액세스 포인트 정보 DB(270)에 저장한다(동작 S507). 여기서 상기 무게 중심 좌표는 내심, 외심 등으로 대체될 수 있다. 또한 신호 세기를 반영하여 신호 세기에 따른 가중치에 따라 중심 좌표를 구할 수도 있다.
본 실시예에서 상승 변곡점을 활용하는 이유는, 해당 상승 변곡점은 액세스 포인트의 신호 세기가 가장 센 곳으로서 액세스 포인트의 실제 설치 위치와 가장 가까운 지점이기 때문이다.
이상과 같은 도 5를 참조한 액세스 포인트의 가상 위치 좌표를 결정하는 방법은 액세스 포인트 정보 수집 단말이 이동하며 수집한 액세스 포인트 중 설치 위치 좌표가 확인되지 않는 모든 액세스 포인트들에 대해 수행된다.
도 7은 본 발명의 일 실시예에 따른 위치 측정 서버에서 통신 단말의 위치를 측정하는 방법을 설명하는 흐름도이다.
도 7을 참조하면, 위치 측정 서버(250)는 특정 통신 단말에 대한 위치 측정 요청을 수신한다. 위치 측정 서버(250)는, 상기 특정 통신 단말로부터 주변 액세스 포인트들의 식별정보(예컨대, MAC 주소 또는 SSID) 그리고 해당 주변 액세스 포인트들의 신호 세기 정보를 수신한다(동작 S701).
위치 측정 서버(250)는 상기 특정 통신 단말의 식별정보를 이용하여 상기 특정 통신 단말이 주변 액세스 포인트의 정보(예컨대, 식별정보 및 신호 세기)를 송신하도록 제어한다. 상기 특정 통신 단말은 복수의 액세스 포인트의 정보(예컨대, 식별정보 및 신호 세기)를 전송한다.
이어서, 위치 측정 서버(250)는, 상기 특정 통신 단말로부터 수신된 주변 액세스 포인트 중 실제 설치 위치 좌표가 존재하는 액세스 포인트를 1차로 선택한다(동작 S703). 즉 위치 측정 서버(250)는 주변 액세스 포인트들의 식별정보(예컨대, MAC 주소)를 이용하여 액세스 포인트 정보 DB(270)에서 실제 설치 위치 좌표가 존재하는 액세스 포인트들을 확인하는 것이다. 본 실시예에서 1차 선택된 액세스 포인트들의 수를 n이라 가정한다.
이때, 실제 설치 좌표가 존재하는 액세스 포인트가 없는 경우, 본 동작에서 액세스 포인트는 선택되지 않는다. 그리고 실제 설치 위치 좌표가 존재하는 액세스 포인트를 선택함에 있어서 소정의 신호 세기 이상의 신호 세기를 갖는 액세스 포인트만을 선택할 수 있다. 신호 세기가 작은 액세스 포인트의 경우 이동 단말로부터 먼 거리에 위치하고 있다고 볼 수 있으므로, 해당 액세스 포인트의 실제 설치 위치 좌표가 존재한다고 하더라도 제외하는 것이다.
이후, 위치 측정 서버(250)는 상기 주변 액세스 포인트 중에서 실제 설치 위치 좌표가 존재하는 액세스 포인트를 제외한 나머지 주변 액세스 포인트들의 신호 세기를 기준으로 신호 세기가 큰 상위 k 개의 주변 액세스 포인트를 2차로 선택한다(동작 S705). 예컨대, 상기 특정 통신 단말로부터 수신된 30 개의 액세스 포인트의 정보 중 실제 설치 위치 좌표가 존재하는 액세스 포인트가 6 개라고 가정할 경우, 위치 측정 서버(250)는 나머지 24 개의 액세스 포인트의 신호 세기를 기준으로 신호 세기가 큰 상위 k 개의 액세스 포인트를 선택하는 것이다.
여기서, R=(k+n)은 Li인 것이 바람직하다(L는 3 이상의 자연수, i는 2 이상의 자연수). 그리고 동작 S703에서 실제 설치 위치 좌표가 존재하는 주변 액세스 포인트의 수(n)가 R 개만큼 존재하는 경우, 상술한 도작 S705는 생략될 수 있다.
이와 같이 액세스 포인트들을 선택하고 난 후, 위치 측정 서버(250)는, 상기 선택한 R 개의 액세스 포인트들의 위치 좌표를 액세스 포인트 정보 DB(270)에서 추출한다(동작 S707).
구체적으로, 위치 측정 서버(250)는, 실제 설치 위치 좌표가 존재하는 액세스 포인트에 대해서는 액세스 포인트 정보 DB(270)에서 해당 액세스 포인트의 실제 설치 위치 좌표를 추출한다.
또한, 위치 측정 서버(250)는, 실제 설치 위치 좌표가 존재하지 않는 액세스 포인트에 대해서는 액세스 포인트 정보 DB(270)에 가상 위치 좌표가 저장되어 있는지 확인하고, 가상 위치 좌표가 저장되어 있는 액세스 포인트에 대해서는 그 가상 위치 좌표를 상기 액세스 포인트 정보 DB(270)에서 추출한다.
또한, 위치 측정 서버(250)는, 실제 설치 위치 좌표 및 가상 위치 좌표가 존재하지 않는 액세스 포인트들의 위치 좌표에 대해서는, 액세스 포인트 정보 DB(270)에서 해당 액세스 포인트들의 위치별로 수집된 신호 세기를 기준으로 신호 세기가 큰 상위 i 개(i는 액세스 포인트의 수)의 수집 위치 좌표를 해당 액세스 포인트들의 위치 좌표로 추출한다.
예를 들어, 실제 설치 위치 좌표 및 가상 위치 좌표가 존재하지 않는 액세스 포인트가 3 개 있고, 각 액세스 포인트의 위치별로 수집된 신호 세기가, A 액세스 포인트의 경우 -40dB, -50dB이고, B 액세스 포인트의 경우 -50dB, -60dB, -70dB이며, C 액세스 포인트의 경우 -60dB, -100dB 일 때, 이 중 신호 세기가 큰 상위 3 개는 A 액세스 포인트의 -40dB, -50dB와 B 액세스 포인트의 -50dB이다. 위치 측정 서버(250)는 상기 A 액세스 포인트의 -40dB, -50dB와 B 액세스 포인트의 -50dB가 수집된 수집 위치 좌표를 상기 실제 설치 위치 좌표 및 가상 위치 좌표가 존재하지 않는 액세스 포인트들의 위치 좌표로 추출한다.
이와 같이 상기 동작 S703 및 동작 S705에서 선택된 액세스 포인트들의 위치 좌표를 추출하고 나서, 위치 측정 서버(250)는 그 추출된 위치 좌표를 이용하여 무게 중심법을 이용하여 최종 위치 좌표를 계산한다(동작 S709). 그리고 위치 측정 서버(250)는 그 최종 위치 좌표를 위치 측정을 요청한 곳(예컨대, 통신 단말 또는 웹 서버 등)으로 전송한다(동작 S711). 상기 결정된 최종 위치 좌표는 맵 형태로 제공될 수도 있고, 또는 해당 좌표에 대응하는 주소로 변경되어 제공될 수도 있다. 그러나, 그 위치 정보의 제공 형태는 여기에 제한되지 않는 것으로 이해된다.
상기 동작 S709의 무게 중심법을 이용한 위치 좌표 계산 방법은 도 8을 참조하여 구체적으로 설명한다.
도 8은 본 발명의 일 실시예에 따른 무게 중심법을 이용한 위치 좌표 계산 방법을 설명하는 흐름도이다.
도 8에 도시된 바와 같이, 위치 측정 서버(250)는 도 7에 도시된 동작 S707에서 추출된 액세스 포인트들을 M 개씩(M은 3 이상의 자연수, M과 L은 동일할 수 있다) 선택하여 그룹을 형성하고(동작 S801), 각 그룹에 속하는 액세스 포인트의 위치 좌표를 이용하여 각 그룹의 무게 중심 좌표를 계산한다(동작 S803).
구체적으로, 도 9를 참조하여 무게 중심 좌표의 계산을 설명한다. 도 9는 본 발명의 일 실시예에 따른 무게 중심 좌표를 계산하는 과정을 설명하는 도면으로, 상술한 도 7을 참조하여 설명한 실시예에서 R은 9이고 M은 3인 경우의 예이다. 동작 S707에서 9 개의 액세스 포인트를 선택되면, 그 선택된 9 개의 액세스 포인트를 랜덤하게 3 개씩 선택하여 3 개의 액세스 포인트로 구성된 3 개의 그룹을 만든다. 그리고, 도 9의 (a)에 도시된 바와 같이, 각 그룹에 속하는 3 개의 각 액세스 포인트의 위치 좌표(실제 설치 위치 좌표 또는 가상 위치 좌표)를 꼭지점으로 하는 삼각형의 무게 중심 좌표를 구한다. 도 9의 (a)에서 'A', 'B', 'C'가 각 그룹의 무게 중심 좌표이다.
실제 설치 위치 좌표가 존재하는 액세스 포인트들은 각 그룹에 균등하게 배분한다. 예컨대, 실제 설치 위치 좌표가 존재하는 액세스 포인트가 3 개인 경우, 각 그룹에는 실제 설치 위치 좌표가 존재하는 액세스 포인트를 각각 1 개씩 포함되도록 하는 것이다. 이와 같이 하는 이유는 실제 설치 위치 좌표는 정확한 위치 좌표이기 때문에, 각 그룹에 실제 설치 위치 좌표가 포함되도록 하여 위치 오차를 줄이기 위한 것이다.
다음으로, 위와 같이 무게 중심 좌표가 구해지고 난 후, 위치 측정 서버(250)는 상기 구해진 무게 중심 좌표에서 다시 랜덤하게 M 개씩 무게 중심 좌표를 선택하여 그룹을 구성하고, 그 M 개씩의 무게 중심 좌표로 구성된 각 그룹의 무게 중심 좌표를 다시 구한다. 이와 같은 과정을 하나의 무게 중심 좌표가 구해질 때까지 반복 수행한다(동작 S805).
구체적으로, 도 9의 (a)에서 구해진 무게 중심 좌표는 'A', 'B', 'C'이다. 무게 중심 좌표는 3 개이므로, 더 이상의 그룹 구성은 무의미하고, 상기 3 개의 무게 중심 좌표를 꼭지점으로 하는 삼각형의 무게 중심 좌표를 구하면, 도 9의 (b)와 같이 하나의 무게 중심 좌표(910)가 구해진다.
마지막으로, 위치 측정 서버(250)는 상기 무게 중심법으로 구해진 최종 하나의 무게 중심 좌표(810)를 통신 단말의 최종 위치로 결정한다(동작 S807).
이상의 실시예에서, R은 Li인 것으로 설명하였으나, 반드시 Li일 필요는 없다. R이 Li인 것으로 설명한 이유는, 동작 S803 및 동작 S805에서 무게 중심 좌표를 구할 때 M을 L과 동일하게 설정하면 동일한 패턴의 다각형(예컨대, 삼각형)이 모두 이용되기 때문이다. 그러나 하나 이상의 다른 실시예에 따라 R은 반드시 Li일 필요는 없다. 동작 S803 및 동작 S805에서 M 개씩 그룹을 지어 무게 중심 좌표를 구하면서 마지막에 M 보다 크고 2×M 보다 작은 수(X, M<X<2×M)의 무게 중심 좌표가 남으면 그 M 보다 크고 2×M 보다 작은 수(X)의 무게 중심 좌표를 꼭지점으로 하는 다각형을 만들어 최종적인 하나의 무게 중심 좌표를 구해도 된다. 또는, 무게 중심 좌표를 소정의 개수씩 묶어 그룹을 만들 때, 그 그룹에 속하는 무게 중심 좌표의 개수는 동일하지 않게 하여도 된다.
도 7 및 도 8을 참조한 실시예에서는 액세스 포인트가 9 개 이상인 경우를 설명하였다. 그러나, 주변 액세스 포인트가 2 또는 3 개인 경우 그 2 또는 3 개의 액세스 포인트의 위치 좌표의 무게 중심 좌표를 최종 위치 좌표로 결정하면 되고, 또는 주변 액세스 포인트가 4 개인 경우 3 개를 묶어 무게 중심 좌표를 구하고, 그 무게 중심 좌표와 나머지 한 개의 액세스 포인트의 위치 좌표의 무게 중심을 최종 위치 좌표로 결정할 수 있다. 이와 같이 9 개 이하인 경우, 적절하게 그룹을 나누어 무게 중심을 구하여 최종 하나의 위치 좌표를 구하면 된다.
도 10은 본 발명의 일 실시예에 따른 위치 측정 서버의 구성을 나타낸 블럭도이다.
도 10을 참조하면, 본 실시예에 따른 위치 측정 서버(250)는 액세스 포인트 정보 수집부(1010), 가상 위치 좌표 결정부(1030), 위치 정보 요청 수신부(1050), 액세스 포인트 선택부(1070) 및 위치 계산부(1090)를 포함한다.
액세스 포인트 정보 수집부(1010)는, 액세스 포인트 정보 수집 단말이 일정한 시간 주기로 수집한 위치별 액세스 포인트 정보를 수신하여 액세스 포인트 정보 DB(270)에 저장한다. 액세스 포인트 정보 수집부(1010)는 인터넷망(210) 또는 이동통신망(230)을 통해 직접 상기 액세스 포인트 정보 수집 단말로부터 위치별 액세스 포인트 정보를 수신할 수 있다. 위치별 액세스 포인트 정보는 도 4의 예와 같다.
가상 위치 좌표 결정부(1030)는, 상기 액세스 포인트 정보 수집부(1010)에서 위치별로 수집된 액세스 포인트 정보를 토대로 실제 설치 위치 좌표가 존재하지 않는 액세스 포인트의 위치 좌표를 추정하여 결정한다. 가상 위치 좌표 결정부(1030)에서 추정하여 결정하는 위치 좌표는 가상 위치 좌표로 참조된다.
구체적으로, 가상 위치 좌표 결정부(1030)는 수집된 액세스 포인트 중 실제 설치 위치 좌표가 확인되지 않는 특정 액세스 포인트의 위치별 수집 정보를 상기 액세스 포인트 정보 DB(270)에서 추출한다. 그리고 가상 위치 좌표 결정부(1030)는 특정 액세스 포인트의 위치별 수집 정보를 추출한 후, 상기 위치별 수집 정보 중 신호 세기(예컨대, RSSI)를 추출하여 시간 순서로 나열하고, 그 신호 세기의 시간에 따른 변화 추이를 분석하여 상승 변곡점을 추출한다. 여기서 상기 상승 변곡점은 신호 세기가 상승하면서 최고점에 도달하였을 때의 지점이다.
구체적으로, 도 6은 액세스 포인트의 시간에 따른 신호 세기 분포에 기초하여 상승 변곡점을 추출하는 예로서, 도 6에 도시된 바와 같이, 액세스 포인트의 신호 세기를 시간 순서대로 나열하였을 때, 신호 세기가 상승하면서 최고점에 도달한 지점은 A 지점과 C 지점으로, A 지점과 C 지점을 상승 변곡점으로 추출한다.
가상 위치 좌표 결정부(1030)는, 상승 변곡점이 추출되면, 그 상승 변곡점의 수집 위치 좌표, 즉 그 상승 변곡점의 신호 세기가 수집되었던 수집 위치 좌표들의 무게 중심 좌표를 계산하고 그 계산된 무게 중심 좌표를 해당 특정 액세스 포인트의 가상 위치 좌표로 결정하고 그 가상 위치 좌표를 액세스 포인트 정보 DB(270)에 저장한다. 여기서 상기 무게 중심 좌표는 내심, 외심 등으로 대체될 수 있다.
따라서 액세스 포인트 정보 DB(270)에는 각 액세스 포인트에 대한 실제 설치 위치 좌표 또는 가상 위치 좌표가 저장된다.
위치 정보 요청 수신부(1050)는, 특정 통신 단말에 대한 위치 측정 요청을 수신한다. 위치 측정 요청은 다른 통신 단말의 요청에 따라 다른 통신망 장비로부터 수신할 수도 있다. 위치 정보 요청 수신부(1050)는 위치 정보 요청을 수신시, 상기 특정 통신 단말을 제어하여 상기 특정 통신 단말의 주변 액세스 포인트의 식별정보(예컨대, MAC 주소 또는 SSID) 및 신호 세기를 상기 특정 통신 단말로부터 수신한다.
액세스 포인트 선택부(1070)는, 상기 위치 정보 요청 수신부(1050)에서 수신된 주변 액세스 포인트 중에서 R 개를 선택한다. 여기서 R은 Li인 것이 바람직하다(L는 3 이상의 자연수, i는 2 이상의 자연수).
액세스 포인트 선택부(1070)는 R 개의 액세스 포인트를 선택하는데 있어서 액세스 포인트 정보 DB(270)를 참조하여 상기 주변 액세스 포인트 중에서 실제 설치 위치 좌표가 존재하는 액세스 포인트를 우선 선택하고, 나머지는 상기 주변 액세스 포인트 중에서 신호 세기가 큰 액세스 포인트를 선택한다.
따라서 설치 위치 좌표가 존재하는 액세스 포인트가 R 개 존재할 경우 실제 설치 위치 좌표가 존재하는 액세스 포인트만 선택하고, 일부 부족한 경우 신호 세기가 큰 액세스 포인트를 선택한다(신호 세기는 상기 특정 통신 단말이 측정하여 보고한 값). 이때, 실제 설치 위치 좌표가 존재하는 액세스 포인트를 선택하는 데 있어서 소정의 신호 세기 이상의 액세스 포인트만을 선택할 수 있다. 여기서 신호 세기는 특정 통신 단말로부터 수신된 주변 액세스 포인트의 신호 세기이다.
위치 계산부(1090)는, 액세스 포인트 선택부(1070)에서 선택된 액세스 포인트들의 위치 좌표를 액세스 포인트 정보 DB(270)에서 추출하고, 그 추출된 위치 좌표를 이용하여 무게 중심법에 의해 최종 하나의 위치 좌표를 계산한다.
구체적으로, 위치 계산부(1090)는, 실제 설치 위치 좌표가 존재하는 액세스 포인트에 대해서는 액세스 포인트 정보 DB(270)에서 해당 액세스 포인트의 실제 설치 위치 좌표를 추출한다.
또한, 위치 계산부(1090)는, 실제 설치 위치 좌표가 존재하지 않는 액세스 포인트에 대해서는 액세스 포인트 정보 DB(270)에 가상 위치 좌표가 저장되어 있는지 확인하고, 가상 위치 좌표가 저장되어 있는 액세스 포인트에 대해서는 그 가상 위치 좌표를 상기 액세스 포인트 정보 DB(270)에서 추출한다.
또한, 위치 계산부(1090)는, 실제 설치 위치 좌표 좌표 및 가상 위치 좌표가 존재하지 않는 액세스 포인트들의 위치 좌표에 대해서는, 액세스 포인트 정보 DB(270)에서 해당 액세스 포인트들의 위치별로 수집된 신호 세기를 기준으로 신호 세기가 큰 상위 i 개(i는 액세스 포인트의 수)의 수집 위치 좌표를 해당 액세스 포인트들의 위치 좌표로 추출한다.
예를 들어, 실제 설치 위치 좌표 및 가상 위치 좌표가 존재하지 않는 액세스 포인트가 3 개 있고, 각 액세스 포인트의 위치별로 수집된 신호 세기가, A 액세스 포인트의 경우 -40dB, -50dB이고, B 액세스 포인트의 경우 -50dB, -60dB, -70dB이며, C 액세스 포인트의 경우 -60dB, -100dB 일 때, 이 중 신호 세기가 큰 상위 3 개는 A 액세스 포인트의 -40dB, -50dB와 B 액세스 포인트의 -50dB이다. 위치 계산부(1090)는 상기 A 액세스 포인트의 -40dB, -50dB와 B 액세스 포인트의 -50dB가 수집된 수집 위치 좌표를 상기 실제 설치 위치 좌표 및 가상 위치 좌표가 존재하지 않는 액세스 포인트들의 위치 좌표로 추출한다.
위치 계산부(1090)는, 상기 액세스 포인트 선택부(1070)에서 선택된 액세스 포인트를 M 개씩(M은 3 이상의 자연수, M과 L는 동일할 수 있다) 선택하여 소정 개수의 그룹을 구성하고, 상기 추출한 액세스 포인트의 위치 좌표를 이용하여 각 그룹의 무게 중심 좌표를 계산한다. 이때, 위치 계산부(1090)는 실제 설치 위치 좌표가 존재하는 액세스 포인트들을 각 그룹에 균등하게 배분한다.
위치 계산부(1090)는 상기 구해진 무게 중심 좌표에서 다시 랜덤하게 M 개씩 무게 중심 좌표를 선택하여 소정 개수의 그룹을 구성하고, 그 M 개씩의 무게 중심 좌표로 구성된 각 그룹의 무게 중심 좌표를 다시 구한다. 위치 계산부(1090)는 이 과정을 하나의 무게 중심 좌표가 구해질 때까지 반복 수행하고, 최종적으로 하나의 무게 중심 좌표가 구해지면 그 구해진 무게 중심 좌표를 상기 특정 통신 단말의 최종 위치로 결정한다.
위치 계산부(1090)는, 무게 중심 좌표를 M 개씩 그룹을 지어 각 그룹의 무게 중심 좌표를 구할 때, 마지막에 M 보다 크고 2×M 보다 작은 수(X, M<X<2×M)의 무게 중심 좌표가 남으면 그 M 보다 크고 2×M 보다 작은 수(X)의 무게 중심 좌표를 꼭지점으로 하는 다각형을 만들어 최종적인 하나의 무게 중심 좌표를 구할 수 있다.
또한, 위치 계산부(1090)는 무게 중심 좌표를 소정의 개수씩 묶어 그룹을 만들 때, 각 그룹에 속하는 무게 중심 좌표의 개수는 동일하지 않게 하고 무게 중심 좌표를 구하여 최종 하나의 무게 중심 좌표를 구할 수도 있다.
이와 같이 위치 계산부(1090)에 의해 계산된 최종 좌표는 위치 측정을 요청한 곳으로 전송된다.
본 실시예에 있어서 설명된 액세스 포인트는 제조업체 또는 통신 사업자의 정책에 따라 초소형 기지국, 피코 기지국, 유비셀 기지국 등으로 불려지기도 한다. 따라서 본 발명에 있어서의 액세스 포인트는 통신 단말과 근거리 통신으로 직접 통신하여 범용 인터넷 회선을 통해 상기 통신 단말로 인터넷 서비스를 제공할 수 있는 관문 포인트로서 이해되어야 한다.
또한, 본 발명의 위치 측정 방법은 실외뿐만 아니라 실내에서도 동일하게 적용될 수 있음을 명확히 한다. 이때, 실외에서는 수집 위치 좌표로서 위도 및 경도 좌표를 이용하는 것으로 설명하였으나, 실내에서는 수집 위치 좌표로서 가상의 좌표가 이용될 수 있다. 예컨대, 건물의 층별로 좌표를 구분하고, 그리고 각 층마다 가상의 좌표를 설정한 후, 각 위치에서 액세스 포인트 정보를 수집한 후 상술한 무게 중심법을 이용하여 통신 단말의 위치를 측정할 수 있다.
도 11은 본 발명의 다른 실시예에 따른 위치 측정 시스템의 네트워크 구성을 나타낸 도면이다. 도 11에 있어서 도 2와 동일한 참조부호의 구성요소는 도 2를 참조하여 설명한 바와 같은 동일 또는 유사한 동작을 수행한다. 따라서 본 실시예에서는 동일한 설명은 생략한다.
도 11에 도시된 바와 같이, 본 실시예에 따른 위치 측정 시스템은, GPS 서버(1110)를 더 포함한다.
위치 측정 서버(250)는 상술한 바와 같이 액세스 포인트(AP)(290-1,..., 290-N)를 이용하여 특정 통신 단말의 위치를 측정함에 있어서 특정 통신 단말이 탐지하여 송신한 액세스 포인트(AP)(290-1,..., 290-N)의 위치 좌표(실제 설치 위치 좌표 또는 가상 위치 좌표, 또는 수집 위치 좌표)를 액세스 포인트 정보 DB(270)에서 추출하여 이용한다.
이때, 위치 측정 서버(250)는, 상기 특정 통신 단말로부터 수신된 액세스 포인트(290-1,..., 290-N) 중 일부의 위치 좌표를 액세스 포인트 정보 DB(270)에서 추출할 수 없는 경우, 즉 상기 특정 통신 단말로부터 수신된 액세스 포인트 중 일부가 신규 설치된 액세스 포인트인 경우, GPS 서버(1110)로 상기 특정 통신 단말의 위치 측위를 요청한다. 그리고 위치 측정 서버(250)는 이에 따른 위치 좌표가 상기 GPS 서버(1110)로부터 수신되면, 그 수신된 위치 좌표와 상기 특정 통신 단말로부터 수신된 액세스 포인트(290-1,..., 290-N)의 정보를 액세스 포인트 정보 DB(270)에 저장한다.
부연하면, 도 3을 참조하여 설명한 바와 같이, 액세스 포인트 정보 수집 단말은 도로 곳곳을 저속으로 이동하며 일정한 시간 주기로 주변 액세스 포인트의 신호를 측정하여 정보를 수집하고 이와 같이 수집된 액세스 포인트의 정보는 액세스 포인트 정보 DB(270)에 저장되는데, 이와 같은 수집 이후 새롭게 액세스 포인트들이 제공 또는 설치될 수 있고, 이러한 새로운 액세스 포인트들의 정보를 상기 특정 통신 단말로부터 수신하여 액세스 포인트 정보 DB(270)에 저장하여 업데이트하는 것이다.
위치 측정 서버(250)는 상기 특정 통신 단말로부터 수신된 액세스 포인트 중 일부를 선택하여 상기 특정 통신 단말의 위치를 측정하는데, 상술한 바와 같이 새로운 액세스 포인트의 경우 선택 대상에서 제외하고 기존에 수집되어 정보가 저장되어 있는 액세스 포인트를 선택하여 이용한다.
또한, 위치 측정 서버(250)는, 도 5 및 도 6을 참조하여 설명한 바와 같이 액세스 포인트의 위치별 수집 정보를 이용하여 액세스 포인트의 가상 위치 좌표를 추정하는데, 상술한 바와 같이 상기 특정 통신 단말로부터 수신되어 새롭게 액세스 포인트 정보 DB(270)에 저장되는 액세스 포인트들의 정보는 마찬가지로 액세스 포인트의 가상 위치 좌표를 추정하는데 활용되고, 또한 상기 특정 통신 단말의 위치 좌표를 추출하는데도 참조된다.
GPS 서버(1110)는 SUPL(Secure User Plane Location) 규격에 기반하여 상기 특정 통신 단말의 위치를 측정할 수 있다. 그러나 반드시 여기에 제한되는 것은 아니며 다양한 GPS 위치 측위 기술이 적용될 수 있다.
도 12는 본 발명의 일 실시예에 따른 액세스 포인트 정보를 현행화하는 방법을 설명하는 흐름도이다.
도 12를 참조하면, 위치 측정 서버(250)는 도 7을 참조하여 설명한 바와 같이 특정 통신 단말에 대해 주변 액세스 포인트를 이용하여 위치 측위를 수행한다. 이때 위치 측정 서버(250)는 동작 S707에서 특정 통신 단말로부터 수신된 주변 액세스 포인트 중 신규 액세스 포인트가 있는지 확인한다(동작 S1201). 구체적으로, 위치 측정 서버(250)는 특정 통신 단말로부터 수신된 주변 액세스 포인트의 위치 좌표를 액세스 포인트 정보 DB(270)에서 추출할 수 있는지 여부를 확인함으로써 신규 액세스 포인트가 있는지 확인할 수 있다.
특정 통신 단말로부터 수신된 주변 액세스 포인트 중 신규 액세스 포인트가 있는 경우, 위치 측정 서버(250)는 특정 통신 단말이 GPS 위치 측위를 지원하는 단말인지 확인한다(동작 S1203). 위치 측정 서버(250)는 단말 정보 DB(미도시)를 참조하여 특정 통신 단말이 GPS 위치 측위를 지원하는 단말인지 확인할 수 있다.
특정 통신 단말이 GPS 위치 측위를 지원하는 단말인 경우, 위치 측정 서버(250)는 상기 특정 통신 단말에 대한 GPS 위치 측위를 수행한다(동작 S1205). 구체적으로, 위치 측정 서버(250)는 GPS 서버(1110)로 특정 통신 단말의 식별정보를 전송하며 GPS 위치 측위를 요청하고, GPS 서버(1110)로부터 상기 특정 통신 단말의 GPS 위치 측위 결과, 즉 위치 좌표를 수신한다. 그러나 하나 이상의 실시예가 여기에 제한되는 것은 아니다. 예를 들어, 다른 실시예에 따라, 상기 특정 통신 단말이 GPS 서버(1110)로부터 GPS 위치 측위를 요청할 수 있다.
이와 같이 특정 통신 단말에 대해 GPS 위치 측위를 수행한 위치 측정 서버(250)는 GPS 위치 측위 결과, 즉 위치 좌표와 특정 통신 단말로부터 수신된 주변 액세스 포인트의 정보를 액세스 포인트 정보 DB(270)에 저장하여 액세스 포인트 정보 DB(270)를 업데이트한다(동작 S1207). 즉, 위치 측정 서버(250)는 액세스 포인트 정보 수집 단말이 수집한 위치별 액세스 포인트 정보와 동일한 형태로 액세스 포인트 정보 DB(270)에 저장한다. 예컨대, 위치 측정 서버(250)는 수집 위치 좌표로서는 GPS 위치 측위 결과를 기록하고, 해당 수집 위치 좌표에서 수집된 액세스 포인트의 정보는 상기 특정 통신 단말로부터 수신된 주변 액세스 포인트의 정보를 기록한다.
도 11 및 도 12를 참조한 실시예에서는 신규 액세스 포인트가 있는 경우 특정 통신 단말에 대해 GPS 위치 측위를 수행하고 그 GPS 위치 측위 결과와 상기 특정 통신 단말로부터 수신된 주변 액세스 포인트의 정보를 액세스 포인트 정보 DB(270)에 저장하는 것을 설명하였으나, 이외에도 특정 통신 단말로부터 수신된 주변 액세스 포인트의 정보 중 신규 액세스 포인트를 제외한 나머지 액세스 포인트의 정보만으로 무게 중심법을 이용하여 위치를 측정한 후, 그 무게 중심법을 이용하여 구해진 위치 측정 결과와 상기 주변 액세스 포인트의 정보를 액세스 포인트 정보 DB(270)에 저장할 수도 있다.
구체적으로, 도 7을 참조한 위치 측정 방법 중 동작 S707에서 위치 측정 서버(250)는 특정 통신 단말로부터 수신된 주변 액세스 포인트 중 신규 액세스 포인트가 있는 경우, 다시 말하면, R 개의 액세스 포인트를 선택한 후 그 R 개의 액세스 포인트 중 일부 액세스 포인트(즉, 신규 액세스 포인트)의 실제 설치 위치 좌표 또는 가상 위치 좌표 등을 액세스 포인트 정보 DB(270)에서 추출할 수 없는 경우, 위치 측정 서버(250)는 해당 신규 액세스 포인트는 선택에서 제외하고 나머지 주변 액세스 포인트 중 일부를 선택하여 R 개의 액세스 포인트를 재구성하고, 그 재구성한 R 개의 액세스 포인트를 이용하여 무게 중심법에 기초한 위치 측정을 수행한다. 이와 같이 무게 중심법에 기초한 위치 측정을 한 후, 위치 측정 서버(250)는 그 위치 측정 결과(즉, 위도 및 경도 좌표)와 특정 통신 단말로부터 수신하였던 주변 액세스 포인트의 정보를 액세스 포인트 정보 DB(270)에 저장한다. 즉, 신규 액세스 포인트의 정보가 포함된 위치별 액세스 포인트 정보가 액세스 포인트 정보 DB(270)에 저장되는 것이다.
또한, 위치 측정 서버(250)는 특정 통신 단말로부터 수신된 주변 액세스 포인트의 정보를 이용하여 위치 측정 결과를 상기 특정 통신 단말로 전송한 후, 상기 특정 통신 단말로부터 위치 보정 요청을 수신할 수도 있다. 상기 위치 보정 요청은 상기 위치 측정 결과와 사용자가 선택한 보정 위치 좌표를 포함할 수 있다.
즉, 주변 액세스 포인트의 정보를 이용하여 측정한 위치 측정 결과가 실제 특정 통신 단말이 위치한 위치 좌표와 상이할 경우, 사용자는 특정 통신 단말에서 위치 보정 메뉴를 선택한 후 지도상에서 실제 위치 좌표를 선택할 수 있다. 이에 따라 특정 통신 단말은 상기 실제 위치 좌표를 포함하는 위치 보정 요청을 위치 측정 서버(250)로 전송하고, 위치 측정 서버(250)는 그 위치 보정 요청에 포함된 실제 위치 좌표와 상기 주변 액세스 포인트의 정보를 액세스 포인트 정보 DB(270)에 저장한다. 즉, 새로운 위치별 액세스 포인트 정보를 액세스 포인트 정보 DB(270)에 저장하는 것이다.
도 13은 본 발명의 다른 실시예에 따른 위치 측정 서버의 구성을 나타낸 도면으로, 도 13에 있어서 도 10의 참조부호와 동일한 구성요소는 도 10을 참조하여 설명한 바와 같은 동일 또는 유사한 동작을 수행한다.
도 13에 도시된 바와 같이, 위치 측정 서버(250)는 액세스 포인트 정보 업데이트부(1310)를 더 포함한다.
위치 계산부(1090)는, 특정 통신 단말에 대해 액세스 포인트를 이용하여 위치 좌표를 계산할 때, 특정 통신 단말로부터 수신된 주변 액세스 포인트 중 일부의 위치 좌표를 액세스 포인트 정보 DB(270)에서 추출할 수 없는 경우, 즉 특정 통신 단말로부터 수신된 주변 액세스 포인트 중 일부가 신규 설치된 액세스 포인트인 경우, 액세스 포인트 정보 업데이트부(1310)로 액세스 포인트 정보의 업데이트를 요청한다.
위치 계산부(1090)는 특정 통신 단말로부터 수신된 주변 액세스 포인트 중 신규 액세스 포인트를 제외한 나머지 액세스 포인트의 정보를 이용하여 상기 특정 통신 단말의 위치 좌표를 계산한다.
액세스 포인트 정보 업데이트부(1310)는, GPS 서버(1110)로 상기 특정 통신 단말의 위치 측위를 요청하고 이에 따른 위치 좌표가 상기 GPS 서버(1110)로부터 수신되면, 그 수신된 위치 좌표와 상기 특정 통신 단말로부터 수신된 주변 액세스 포인트의 정보를 액세스 포인트 정보 DB(270)에 저장한다.
또는, 액세스 포인트 정보 업데이트부(1310)는, 상기 위치 계산부(1090)로부터 특정 통신 단말의 위치 좌표를 수신하고, 그 수신된 위치 좌표와 상기 특정 통신 단말로부터 수신된 주변 액세스 포인트의 정보를 액세스 포인트 정보 DB(270)에 저장한다. 액세스 포인트 정보 업데이트부(1310)는, 특정 통신 단말이 GPS 기능을 지원하지 않을 경우, 상기 위치 계산부(1090)로부터 수신된 특정 통신 단말의 위치 좌표를 이용하여 주변 액세스 포인트의 정보를 업데이트할 수 있다.
또한, 가상 위치 좌표 결정부(1030)는, 실제 설치 위치 좌표가 존재하지 않는 액세스 포인트의 가상 위치 좌표를 계산할 때 상기 액세스 포인트 정보 업데이트부(1310)에 의해 업데이트된 액세스 포인트의 정보도 참조하여 가상 위치 좌표를 계산한다.
스마트폰의 보급과 함께 최근 빠른 속도로 새로운 액세스 포인트들이 곳곳에 설치되고 있다. 액세스 포인트 정보 수집 단말에 의해 액세스 포인트의 정보를 수집하는 것은 시간 제약과 여러 가지 한계가 있으므로, 통신 단말에 대해 위치 측정을 수행할 때 기존에 수집된 액세스 포인트 이외 새로운 액세스 포인트가 발견되면 자동으로 위치별 액세스 포인트 정보를 업데이트함으로써, 굳이 액세스 포인트 정보 수집 단말에 의해 액세스 포인트의 정보를 수집하지 않아도 되고, 따라서 시간과 비용을 절약하고 위치 측위 정밀도를 빠르게 개선할 수 있다.
상술한 바와 같은 본 발명의 방법은 컴퓨터로 읽을 수 있는 프로그램 코드로 구현되어 컴퓨터로 읽을 수 있는 형태로 기록매체(씨디롬, 램, 롬, 플로피 디스크, 하드 디스크, 광자기 디스크 등)에 저장될 수 있다. 또한, 액세스 포인트(290), 통신 단말, 위치 측정 서버(250) 등은 컴퓨터로 읽을 수 있는 기록매체에 저장된 컴퓨터 프로그램을 실행하는 프로세서 또는 마이크로 프로세서를 포함할 수 있다.

Claims (19)

  1. 액세스 포인트를 이용한 위치 측정에 있어서 상기 액세스 포인트의 정보를 현행화하는 방법에 있어서,
    측위 대상의 특정 통신 단말로부터 주변 액세스 포인트들의 정보를 수신하는 수신 단계;
    상기 주변 액세스 포인트들 중, 저장부에 관련 정보가 저장되어 있지 않은 액세스 포인트가 있는지 확인하는 확인 단계;
    관련 정보가 저장되어 있지 않은 액세스 포인트가 있는 경우, 상기 특정 통신 단말에 대해 GPS(Global Positioning System) 위치 측위를 수행하는 GPS 위치 측위 단계; 및
    GPS 위치 측위 결과와 상기 주변 액세스 포인트들의 정보를 상기 저장부에 저장하는 저장 단계;를 포함하는 액세스 포인트 정보 현행화 방법.
  2. 제 1 항에 있어서,
    상기 수신 단계 이후에,
    상기 주변 액세스 포인트들의 위치 좌표를 상기 저장부에서 추출하는 단계;
    추출된 상기 주변 액세스 포인트들의 위치 좌표를 이용하여 상기 특정 통신 단말의 위치 좌표를 계산하는 단계;를 더 포함하는 액세스 포인트 정보 현행화 방법.
  3. 제 2 항에 있어서,
    상기 특정 통신 단말의 위치 좌표를 계산하는 단계는,
    상기 주변 액세스 포인트들의 위치 좌표를 이용하여 무게 중심 좌표를 계산하는 단계; 및
    계산된 무게 중심 좌표를 상기 특정 통신 단말의 위치 좌표로 결정하는 단계;를 포함하는 액세스 포인트 정보 현행화 방법.
  4. 제 3 항에 있어서,
    상기 무게 중심 좌표를 계산하는 단계는,
    추출된 위치 좌표들을 복수의 제 1 그룹으로 그룹핑하고 그 복수의 제 1 그룹들의 제 1 무게 중심 좌표들을 계산하는 단계; 및
    계산된 제 1 무게 중심 좌표들을 복수의 제 2 그룹으로 그룹핑하고 그 복수의 제 2 그룹들의 제 2 무게 중심 좌표들을 계산하는 과정을 반복 수행하여 최종 하나의 무게 중심 좌표를 계산하는 단계;를 포함하는 것을 특징으로 하는 액세스 포인트 정보 현행화 방법.
  5. 제 1 항에 있어서,
    상기 GPS 위치 측위 단계는,
    SUPL(Secure User Plane Location) 프로토콜에 기초하여 GPS 위치 측위를 수행하는 것을 특징으로 하는 액세스 포인트 정보 현행화 방법.
  6. 액세스 포인트를 이용한 위치 측정에 있어서 상기 액세스 포인트의 정보를 GPS 위치 측위부와 연동하여 현행화하는 장치에 있어서,
    액세스 포인트들의 정보를 저장하는 저장부;
    측위 대상의 특정 통신 단말로부터 주변 액세스 포인트들의 정보를 수신하는 수신부;
    상기 주변 액세스 포인트들 중 상기 저장부에 관련 정보가 저장되어 있지 않은 액세스 포인트가 있을 경우, 상기 GPS 위치 측위부을 이용하여 상기 특정 통신 단말에 대한 GPS 위치 측위를 수행하고, GPS 위치 측위 결과와 상기 주변 액세스 포인트들의 정보를 상기 저장부에 저장하는 업데이트부;를 포함하는 장치.
  7. 제 6 항에 있어서,
    상기 주변 액세스 포인트들의 위치 좌표를 상기 저장부에서 추출하고 그 추출된 위치 좌표들을 이용하여 상기 특정 통신 단말의 위치 좌표를 계산하는 계산부;를 더 포함하는 것을 특징으로 하는 장치.
  8. 제 7 항에 있어서,
    상기 계산부는,
    상기 주변 액세스 포인트들 중 하나의 주변 액세스 포인트의 위치 좌표를 상기 저장부에서 추출할 수 없을 때 상기 업데이트부로 액세스 포인트의 업데이트를 요청하는 것을 특징으로 하는 장치.
  9. 제 7 항에 있어서,
    상기 계산부는,
    주변 액세스 포인트들의 위치 좌표를 이용하여 무게 중심 좌표를 계산하고, 그 계산된 무게 중심 좌표를 상기 특정 통신 단말의 위치 좌표로 결정하는 것을 특징으로 하는 장치.
  10. 제 9 항에 있어서,
    상기 계산부는,
    위치 좌표들을 복수의 제 1 그룹으로 그룹핑하고 그 복수의 제 1 그룹들의 제 1 무게 중심 좌표들을 계산한 후, 계산된 제 1 무게 중심 좌표들을 복수의 제 2 그룹으로 그룹핑하고 그 복수의 제 2 그룹들의 제 2 무게 중심 좌표들을 계산하는 과정을 반복 수행하여 최종 하나의 무게 중심 좌표를 계산하는 것을 특징으로 하는 장치.
  11. 제 6 항에 있어서,
    상기 GPS 위치 측위부,
    SUPL(Secure User Plane Location) 프로토콜에 기초하여 GPS 위치 측위를 수행하는 것을 특징으로 하는 장치.
  12. 액세스 포인트를 이용한 위치 측정에 있어서 상기 액세스 포인트의 정보를 현행화하는 방법에 있어서,
    측위 대상의 특정 통신 단말로부터 주변 액세스 포인트들의 정보를 수신하는 수신 단계;
    상기 주변 액세스 포인트들 중 저장부에 관련 정보가 저장되어 있지 않은 제 1 액세스 포인트가 있는지 확인하는 확인 단계;
    상기 저장부에 관련 정보가 저장되어 있지 않은 제 1 액세스 포인트가 있는 경우, 해당 제 1 액세스 포인트를 제외한 나머지 주변 액세스 포인트를 이용하여 상기 특정 통신 단말의 위치 측위를 수행하는 위치 측위 단계; 및
    위치 측위 결과와 상기 수신된 주변 액세스 포인트들의 정보를 상기 저장부에 저장하는 저장 단계;를 포함하는 액세스 포인트 정보 현행화 방법.
  13. 제 12 항에 있어서,
    상기 위치 측위 단계는,
    주변 액세스 포인트들의 위치 좌표를 상기 저장부에서 추출하는 단계;
    추출된 주변 액세스 포인트들의 위치 좌표를 이용하여 무게 중심 좌표를 계산하는 단계; 및
    계산된 무게 중심 좌표를 상기 특정 통신 단말의 위치 좌표로 결정하는 단계;를 포함하는 액세스 포인트 정보 현행화 방법.
  14. 액세스 포인트를 이용한 위치 측정에 있어서 상기 액세스 포인트의 정보를 현행화하는 장치에 있어서,
    액세스 포인트들의 정보를 저장하는 저장부;
    측위 대상의 특정 통신 단말로부터 주변 액세스 포인트들의 정보를 수신하는 수신부;
    상기 주변 액세스 포인트들 중 상기 저장부에 관련 정보가 저장되어 있지 않은 제 1 액세스 포인트가 있을 경우, 해당 제 1 액세스 포인트를 제외한 나머지 주변 액세스 포인트를 이용하여 상기 특정 통신 단말의 위치 측위를 수행하는 위치 측위부; 및
    상기 위치 측위부의 위치 측위 결과와 상기 수신된 주변 액세스 포인트들의 정보를 상기 저장부에 저장하는 업데이트부;룰 포함하는 장치.
  15. 제 14 항에 있어서,
    상기 위치 측위부는,
    주변 액세스 포인트들의 위치 좌표를 상기 저장부에서 추출하고, 그 추출된 주변 액세스 포인트들의 위치 좌표를 이용하여 무게 중심 좌표를 계산하고, 그 계산된 무게 중심 좌표를 상기 특정 통신 단말의 위치 좌표로 결정하는 것을 특징으로 하는 장치.
  16. 제 1 항에 있어서,
    상기 GPS 위치 측위 단계는,
    위치 측위를 수행하는 위치 측정 서버로부터 상기 특정 통신 단말의 식별자를 GPS 서버로 전송하는 단계; 및
    상기 전송된 식별자에 대한 응답으로 상기 GPS 서버로부터 상기 특정 통신 단말의 GPS 위치를 수신하는 단계;를 포함하는 액세스 포인트 정보 현행화 방법.
  17. 제 12 항에 있어서,
    상기 위치 측위 단계는,
    상기 특정 통신 단말이 GPS 동작을 지원하지 않는 경우, 상기 제 1 액세스 포인트를 제외한 주변 액세스 포인트를 이용하여 상기 특정 통신 단말의 위치 측위를 수행하는 단계; 및
    상기 특정 통신 단말이 GPS 동작을 지원하는 경우, GPS 서버를 이용하여 위치 측정을 수행하는 단계;를 포함하는 액세스 포인트 정보 현행화 방법.
  18. 제 1 항의 방법을 수행하기 위한 컴퓨터에 의해 실행 가능한 프로그램이 기록된 컴퓨터로 읽을 수 있는 기록매체.
  19. 제 12 항의 방법을 수행하기 위한 컴퓨터에 의해 실행 가능한 프로그램이 기록된 컴퓨터로 읽을 수 있는 기록매체.
