Description

A DISPLAY DEVICE
The present invention relates to a display device comprising more than one light source holder.
The display devices, preferably flat screen devices comprising liquid crystal panels, comprise a casing and a display panel placed on the casing. The display shown by the display panel is formed by more than one light source disposed inside the casing. Light source holders are used for mounting the light sources, which are preferably fluorescent lamps, on the casing. The light source holders are desired to be attached to the casing easily during the production of the display device. Furthermore, it is expected that the light source mounted to the casing are not detached easily during the production and the light sources installed thereon are supported firmly.
In the state of the art European Patent Application No. EP1995626 and United States Patent Applications No. US2005248936, US2006268542, US2007053171, US2007153154, US2010085734 and US2010232140, various light sources and the assembly method of the light source holders to the casing are described.
The aim of the present invention is the realization of a display device wherein the holders supporting the light sources are mounted to the casing easily and firmly.
The display device realized in order to attain the aim of the present invention, explicated in the first claim and the respective claims thereof, comprises a casing, a display panel, and more than one light source disposed on the casing so as to remain between the casing and the display panel. The light sources are supported by means of the holders secured on the casing. The holder comprises a base, a neck located under the base and more than one locking means disposed underneath the neck having a headpiece with a greater diameter than the neck. The display device furthermore comprises more than one locking slot disposed on the casing, having a first housing through which the locking means is inserted, sized such that the headpiece can pass through and a second housing connected to the first housing, having a diameter smaller than the diameter of the headpiece, sized such that the neck can fit therein. When the headpiece is inserted through the first housing and the holder is rotated in the direction vertical to the plane of the casing, the neck is seated in the second housing. The second housings are disposed in front of the first housings with respect to rotational direction of the holder. In other words, the placement of the first housing and the second housings in a locking slot are in reverse directions with respect to the first housing and the second housing in the other locking slot. For example, while the first housing is at the left, the second housing at the right in a locking slot, the first housing is at the right, the second housing at the left in the other locking slot. The necks are seated in the second housings that are disposed in the opposite direction with respect to the first housings when the holder is preferably rotated clockwise by inserting the headpieces through the first housings. Thus, the holders are secured on the casing not to be easily detached again.
The second housings are located at the two opposite sides of the line connecting the centers of the first housings. The line connecting the centers of the second housings intersects the line connecting the centers of the first housings. The necks are seated into the second housing by passing through the first housing when the holder is rotated as much as the angle remaining between the line connecting the centers of the second housings and the line connecting the centers of the first housings.
In an embodiment of the present invention, the second housings are aligned with each other in the horizontal plane. The first housings are located on an inclined line. In the horizontal plane, the centers of the first housings are spaced apart. When the necks are secured on the casing by being seated into the second housings, the holder extends parallel to the lateral side of the casing.
In another embodiment of the present invention, the display device comprises a guide having a protrusion disposed under the base so as to remain between two locking means and an extension disposed at the end of the protrusion. An opening is arranged on the casing that provides the holder to be positioned by inserting the guide therethrough while the holder is secured on the casing. The shape of the opening matches the shape of the guide and determines the rotational direction of the holder while being mounted and assembled on the casing. Thus, the possibility of error during the assembly process is eliminated and the assembly process of the holder on the casing is expedited.
By means of the present invention, the holders supporting the light sources are secured on the casing easily and firmly.
The display device realized in order to attain the aim of the present invention is illustrated in the attached figures, where:

The display device (1) comprises a casing (2), the inner surface of which is clad with reflective material, more than one light source (3) disposed on the casing (2), a display panel (4) that shows the displays formed by using the light emitted from the light source (3) and more than one holder (10)
  • providing the light source (3) to be attached to the casing (2),
  • having a base (5) seated on the casing (2), more than one supporter (6) disposed on the base (5), each holding one light source (3) by partially clasping around thereof and at least two locking means (9) located below the base (5) with a space therebetween, having a neck (7) and a headpiece (8) connected to the neck (7), the diameter of which is greater than the diameter of the neck (7).
During the production of the display device (1), the holders (10) are secured on the casing (2), the light sources (3) are fitted into the supporters (6) by snap fit method preferably to be parallel to each other. Thus, the assembly of the light sources (3) on the casing (2) is realized.
The display device (1) of the present invention furthermore comprises at least two locking slots (13)
  • disposed on the casing (2),
  • through which the locking means (9) is inserted,
  • having two first housings (11) with a diameter through which the headpiece (8) can pass and two second housings (12) adjacent to the first housings (11), the diameter of which is almost equal to the diameter of the neck (7), wherein the necks (7) are seated when the holder (10) is rotated vertically to the plane of the casing (2) by inserting the headpiece (8) through the first housing (11).
During the assembly of the holders (10) on the casing (2), the locking means (9) are fitted into the locking slots (13). The headpieces (8) are fitted into the first housings (11) which have wider diameters than the second housings (12). Thus, the holder (10) is positioned on the casing (2) such that the base (5) remains on the casing (2) and the locking means (9) under the casing (2). The necks (7) are provided to be seated in the second housings (12) by rotating the holder (10) in vertical direction to the plane of the casing (2). The second housings (12) are disposed in front of the first housings (11) with respect to the rotational direction of the holder (10). The second housing (12) is as wide as the neck (7) can be seated but the headpiece (8) cannot fit in. When the neck (7) is seated into the second housing (12), the neck (7) is stuck in the second housing (12), not able to move and the holder (10) is provided to be secured on the casing (2). Thus, the assembly of the holder (10) on the casing (2) is realized easily and firmly.
The second housings (12) are disposed at opposite directions with respect to the line connecting the centers of the first housings (11). One of the second housings (12) is disposed on the right of the line connecting the centers of the first housings (11) and the other on the left.
The line connecting the centers of the second housings (12) intersects the line connecting the centers of the first housings (11). During the assembly of the holder (10) on the casing (2), after the headpieces (8) are inserted into the first housings (11), the rotational angle made by the neck (7) for being seated into the second housings (12) is equal to the intersection angle between the line connecting the centers of the second housings (12) and the line connecting the centers of the first housings (11).
In an embodiment of the present invention, the second housings (12) are disposed almost at the same vertical direction. Thus, when the necks (7) are seated into the second housings (12), the holder (10) becomes almost in parallel position to the lateral side of the casing (2). The first housings (11) are disposed on the opposite side of the line passing from the centers of the second housings (12). Accordingly, the first housings (11) are disposed on an inclined line on the casing (2). When the holder (10) is rotated as much as the angle between the line connecting the centers of the first housings (11) and the vertical axis by fitting the headpieces (8) into the first housings (11), the necks (7) are seated into the second housings (12).
In an embodiment of the present invention, the display device (1) comprises a support (14) disposed on the base (5), extending perpendicularly to the base (5) and supporting the display panel (4) placed thereon.
In another embodiment of the present invention, the display device (1) comprises a guide (17) having a protrusion (15) disposed under the base (5) so as to remain between two locking means (9) and an extension (16) disposed at the end of the protrusion (15), extending from the protrusion (15) towards one of the locking means (9).
The display device (1) furthermore comprises an opening (18) arranged on the casing (2) so as to remain between the locking slots (13), through which the guide (17) is inserted, having the shape matching that of the guide (17).
During the assembly of the holder (10) on the casing (2), the right position of the holder (10) on the casing (2) is determined by inserting the guide (17) through the opening (18). The opening (18) is arranged at the center of the circular orbit passing over the locking slots (13). The extension (16) is almost rectangular in shape and the long side of the extension (16) extends parallel to the long side of the base (5). The portion of the opening (18) through which the extension (16) is inserted is also rectangular shaped, matching the shape of the extension (16). The protrusion (15) is almost circular in shape and the portion of the opening (18) through which the protrusion (15) is inserted is also circularly shaped. When the holder (10) is rotated by inserting the headpieces (8) through the first housings (11), the guide (17) also rotates and some portion of the extension (16) bears against the lower surface of the casing (2). The assembly process is facilitated by providing the holder (10) to be positioned on the casing (2) by means of the opening (18) and the guide (17).
By means of the present invention, a display device (1) is realized wherein the light sources (3) are mounted on the casing (2) easily and firmly by means of the holder (10).
It is to be understood that the present invention is not limited to the embodiments disclosed above and a person skilled in the art can easily introduce different embodiments. These should be considered within the scope of the protection postulated by the claims of the present invention.
