Abstract

The present invention provides a process for utilization of very low pressure, very low temperature steam liberated by condensing type steam turbine for desalination of sea water for the production of high purity water comprising the steps of: • cooling the high temperature high pressure steam from the boilers entering and passing through the said condensing type of steam turbines to a temperature of about 60-80 degree C and pressure of about 0.3 to 0.5 bar absolute by releasing said low pressure and low temperature steam from the said steam turbine under vacuum; • passing said low pressure and low temperature steam into a multiple effect evaporation system for generation of high purity water from seawater.
