Description
COMBINED LABELLING MACHINE
Field of Invention:
The present invention relates to Combi Labelling Machine, which is based on usage of various types of Labelling Machine or Labeller or Label Applicator Machines used by many packaging industries such as Pharmaceutical, Foods, Beverages, Liquor, Agro Chemicals, Pesticides and Cosmetics. This machine can be used by any of the industries mentioned above for application of label on their product such as Vials, Bottles, Jars, Tin/Cans etc.
Background of the invention
Normally there are two type of label fixing system available in the market to apply the Label on particular products.
A. Paper Label and
B. Sticker (Self- Adhesive) Label.
Wet glue labelling machine are intended for Application of Plain Paper Labels with help of suitable type of Glue such as Startch/Dextrine based or Synthetic Glue. In wet glue labelling machines, plain paper labels are required to use as per the required size which are to be prop'erly and exactly cut to size and in stacked in usable form, strictly in acceptable grain direction and Paper Grammage. This application also requires to be Batch/Code Printed before application of Glue on Labels prior to application of Labels to the Products. Mostly there is different type of labelling machine
which is used mainly suitable for Glass Surface / Bottles only due to the limitation of Synthetic Wet/Cold Glue. Synthetic Glue available in the market for PET / Plastic Bottles but mainly suitable for Manual or Semi Automatic type application only. Synthetic Glue Drying time is high and thus can not support Automatic High Speed Machine operation with Variety of type of Paper and its Grammage. In totality, Synthetic Glue with Paper Label Application does not support fully or not very convenient for the products having synthetic/plastic/Pet surfaces. To add all these the Wet Glue Labelling Machines require Change Parts for each size of Labels and Bottles on Automatic machine.
As a result many Industries, people adopted/started Using the Sticker / Self-Adhesive Labels for their Plastic/PET/HDPE/LDPE/Synthetic surface products besides conventional Glass Products. Sticker Labelling is very convenient for the people to use on product surface other then glass, however same way customers are hesitant to use the sticker label on their all products as the cost of sticker label is almost 2-3 times higher then normal paper label used on wet glue labelling machines. The major factor on cost of sticker label is use of almost double and costly material as all sticker labels haveing silicon release paper which is finally a waste paper after the usage of sticker labels.
Secondly Sticker label are require in Roll Form for use on Automatic Labelling Machine / Applicator hence it is not possible to print the Sticker Label on conventional type Offset printing machine which can print on Sheets of Paper or Sticker due to the requirement of Sticker Label in Roll Form only. Moreover it is very easy to get the Plain Paper label in required quantity where as the Printing of Sticker / Self- Adhesive label has to be done on High Speed Automatic Printing and Die Cutting Machines which are suitable for giving Sticker Label in Roll Form at higher output and for lower production items again it becomes a bit costly to get the smaller quantity sticker label in roll form.
All this basic requirements increase the cost of sticker label but people who really have high production targets, and are keen on final finished products, where the wet glue labelling is not suitable, even though it may appear to be economical to use, as compared to sticker labels. Many companies wish to use both type of machines to get the equal advantage of both the machines/application according to their products for their packaging lines, however they need to change the machine for production and packing costs for their labelling requirements.
Due to the usage of Two Separate (different types) Labelling Machines on single packing line, keeping in mind the basic issues/problems for the customers, who are using two different labelling machine on their single packaging lines, are as follows
1. Need to use two different machine, due to the limitation of Wet Glue Label which is mainly suitable for Glass Surface only. .
2. Earlier the production was almost on glass bottles and the all packaging line used by almost all companies were limited to the Wet Glue Labelling machines & Round Products, but in last few years many other types of bottles have been introduced in the market like PET / Plastic / HDPE / LDPE. More so instead of round bottles, where the Glue labelling is not suitable.
3. Packaging lines set on all companies are as per old system of labelling, now due to sticker labelling application, it is not easy for any company to expand their existing production/packaging area to include another sticker labelling machine, hence they need to install or remove one or the other Labelling machine from the production line as per the requirement, which requires additional space.
4. Some of the Companies are required to use mandatorily Sticker Label compulsory due to the space limitation as also attractive appearance of the products at retailers . level, making it very difficult for them to change the machine in line.
5. If the company wish to go for both type of labelling systems, then they require to keep more space for their production line and need to install both type of Labelling machine and can operate any of the machine as per their needs but simultaneously they also need to run the conveyor of another machine ideally for forwarding the
products for nest operation, hence they need to control two operation and keep ready separate machine for production line.
6. Overall use of different machines in single line for Labelling application require more space, manpower and power consumption.
Object of Invention :
The purpose of invention came in picture after going through the various problem mentioned as above. They always wish to have high output but at the same time do not wish to spend more money, save on production floor space for their production due to limitation of technology as the increase of even 1% on their product cost becomes very high cost for any company which is finally an unproductive expense, which effects the Companies direct profits. The various customize requirement and application of users mainly in Pharmaceutical Industries, where the cost of their products having limitation and do not wish to increase the product cost but similarly wish to increase the production. Most of the companies were ready to spend money for the machine but not ready to increase their product cost. Moreover all companies were readily responded to limit their spending/investing and space saving for the machine, thus helping keep the end-production costs as low as possible, which are going up and up these days.
Finally, the present invented Combine Labeling machine, which can fulfill the requirement of users for either Wet Glue Labelling using Plain Paper Label or Using Sticker Labels in Roll Form. The present invented Combi Labeling machine, which can work as per the requirement of the users. If the user like to apply Label on Glass Bottle, the present invented Combi labelling machine to apply Plain Paper labels and similarly on same production line they can use PET/Plastic/HDPE/LDPE/Synthetic surface bottles as well and need to use Sticker/Self Adhesive Labels, Now the user can do both type of labelling using their exiting input of two separate type of machines.
The present invented combi labeling machine, a single Labelling Machine which can fulfill their requirements without any limitations. Machine also having the Flexibility on conveyor length which can be provide as per the length of their any brand/any type labelling machine , to fix it easily on existing line. They can remove their existing labelling machine and install the new COMBI labelling machine with same length of their old machine, so as not to need any change or modification on their plant or production area. No need of shifting the any other machine from line, just install the new Combi Labelling Machine which is ready to use label on all type of round bottles used by Pharmaceutical Industries.
The present invention is described with greater specific and clarity with reference to following drawings:
Fig.l represents the top view of the labeling operation for applying wet glue as well as sticker type labels.
Combi Labelling is a combination of Wet Glue Labelling using Plain Paper Labels and Sticker / Self-Adhesive Labelling using Sticker Labels in Roll Form for application on all type of Round Products such as Vials, Bottles, Jars, Container, Tins etc. Combi Labelling Machine can apply any one type of Label on products at a time, i.e. it is possible to use either Glue type Labelling or Sticker type Labelling at a time and both can not work together. Combi Labelling Machine has Two Separate Pressing Belt System as Marked 9 and 9A in the Layout/Sketch, either of which is required to be used/removed as per the type of Labelling Operation. For the wet glue labelling operation using plain paper labels filled and sealed bottles require for labelling operation as marked in Fig.l, then the filled and sealed bottles enter into labelling machine conveyor 2. On the conveyor 2 bottles moves forward in a row one after the other on combi labelling conveyor which then are evenly/required spaced by feed screw system 3 in Fig.l. Feed screw system 3 evenly separate/space the flow of in feed bottles and manage the required space between every bottle before releasing it for Labelling application. Once the Bottle is released
from the feed screw/worm system 2, the bottle travels forward to the label pickup point to pickup the label from the label cylinder 6 as shown in Fig.l. Wet glue labeling operation is dependant upon continuous sequence movement of label box 4, label taker 5, label cylinder 6 and glue pot 7 all mechanical components. As Shown in Fig.l when the bottle enter the feed screw system 2, sensor/micro switch provided on feed screw system path generates the signal to solenoid valve which controls the vacuum. Once the Sensor/Micro switch give signal to solenoid valve about the position/presence of bottle, it release the vacuum from vacuum line connected to the label taker 5 and label cylinder 6 during the continuous movement of label box 4 with sequence to label taker 5, once the vacuum start in label taker 5 it draw one Label from the label box 4 using vacuum pickup system. After label pickup by label taker 5 and is batch coded, is again transferred the label to label cylinder 6 which is also in motion synchronized with other components and it rotates further with the label holding using the vacuum system. Once the Label cylinder 6 hold the label with back side position where the glue is required to be applied and keep rotating. Once the label reach before the glue roller 11 position, label sensor provided on machine detect the label on cylinder and send signal to the glue pot which is having glue roller 11 which picks up the glue from glue pot 7 during the rotation. Glue Roller 11 moves towards the cylinder after receiving signal through sensor about the presence of label and it applies the
glue on moving label on cylinder, through-out the length of label. Finally label gets ready with required glue application and while cylinder keep rotating with Glued label and the Bottles/Product comes in position at require time and the label's front edge 8 in the drawing catch the label from cylinder. At the same time due to system provided on label cylinder 6 it stops the vacuum at the label pickup point to help the label transfer to the Bottle/Product with the help of glue on it. Now due to the proper synchronized movement of all parts with each other, this process keeps on repeating till the signal produced from the feed screw system 2 about the presence/movement of bottles from in feed side of conveyor. After Label Pickup by Bottle, it moves forward with the movement of Conveyor Belt, it reach up to the position of pressing belt system 9, The Pressing belt system 9 keeps on rotating continuously and provide massaging to the bottles with the labels so as to set the label on Product/Bottle before releasing to the exit point 10.
When the present invention is used for the sticker labeling operation using sticker / self-adhesive label in Roll form, filled and sealed bottles require for labelling operation 1. Filled and Sealed Bottles enter into labelling machine conveyor 2, bottles moves forward in a row one after the other on Combi Labelling Conveyor 2 which then are evenly/required spaced by feed screw system 3 as shown in Fig.l. Feed screw system 3 evenly separate/space the flow of in feed
bottles and manage the required space between every bottle before releasing it for sticker labelling application. Once when the bottle release from the feed screw/worm system 2, bottles travel forward to the label pickup point to pickup the label from label dispensing units 5A. Label Dispensing unit 5A having Label Release / Dispense Blade 7 A , releases the label one by one according to bottle from Label roll 6A as shown in Fig.l. Once the Bottle reaches at the required Label pick-up position for label pickup, the sensor provided on machine to detect the bottle presence gives signal to the label dispensing unit 5A motor to start and release the label for application onto the Product/Bottle through Label Release/Dispensing Blade 7 A, provided on label dispensing unit 5A. Bottle pickup the label 8A, released through Label release blade 7 A on label dispensing unit, and starts immediately rotating through the pressing belt system 9A provided on machine to wrap the label on body of products/bottles. Labelling process run continuously as per the system mentioned above for each Vials/Bottles/Container/Jars etc. repeatedly.
By using the present invention device both types of labeling systems (Wet Glue and Sticker/Self-Adhesive Labels) customer can enjoy the Hassle-free Labelling as per their own requirement. It is very easy for the Customer to use now any type of Round Vials/Bottles etc. on machine and can select the labelling as per the product suitability.
