Abstract
The present invention relates to an obstacle detecting device using a prescaler and a detecting method. The obstacle detecting device of the present invention includes: a sensor strip having a varying capacitance value according to the proximity of an obstacle; an RF oscillator connected to the sensor strip; a prescaler for dividing an oscillation frequency of the RF oscillator by a set ratio; and a Micro Controller Unit (MCU) for controlling the operation of the RF oscillator and receiving a divided signal from the prescaler. Since an obstacle detecting device according to the present invention does not include a local oscillator, a mixer, a PLL, and a loop filter, its configuration is simple, product price is lowered, and malfunction possibility is drastically reduced. Moreover, since the proximity of an object is determined by calculating a reference frequency in each set period while an RF oscillator operates, the RF oscillator does not need to be tuned, thereby drastically increasing product productivity.
