Abstract

According to an aspect of the invention, there is provided an improved process for the preparation of trialkyl phosphite of Formula (I): said process comprising reacting trialkyl phosphite of Formula (II) with alkanol of formula (III) R1-OH III such that R1 represents an alkyl moiety having 8 to 16 carbon atoms and R represents an alkyl moiety having 1 to 3 carbon atoms. Also disclosed is the compound of formula (I) that is substantially free of a phenolic impurity.
