Abstract

The invention relates to a method for operating a motor vehicle comprising a high-voltage source (12) for supplying components (14) of a high-voltage on-board electricity supply system (10) with electrical energy. According to said method, a signal loop (18) connecting the components (14) of the high-voltage on-board electricity supply system is provided with a signal, the presence of the signal being detected by at least one measuring device (20), and, in the absence of the signal, the high-voltage source (12) is separated from the high-voltage on-board electricity supply system (10) by at least one electrical separating means (16). According to the invention, the signal is a digital signal. Such a digital signal is to be clearly differentiated from analog parasite signals that can be induced in the signal loop (18) as a result of the spatial proximity of the signal loop (18) to the live parts of the high-voltage on-board electricity supply system. In this way, the operating safety of the motor vehicle is increased.
