- 하나 이상의 주기들을 포함하는 미디어의 메타데이터를 수신하고, 상기 메타데이터가 제공하는 정보에 기반하여 상기 미디어의 세그먼트들을 수신하고, 상기 세그먼트들 내에 포함된 상기 미디어의 데이터를 디코딩하는 접근 엔진; 및상기 접근 엔진으로부터 상기 미디어의 데이터를 제공받아 상기 미디어를 출력하는 미디어 엔진을 포함하고,각 주기는 하나 이상의 그룹들을 포함하고, 각 그룹은 상기 미디어의 하나 이상의 레프리젠테이션들을 포함하고, 상기 레프리젠테이션은 하나의 주기 내의 하나 이상의 미디어 컴포넌트들의 구조화된 컬렉션이고, 각 레프리젠테이션은 하나 이상의 세그먼트들을 포함하는, 단말.

- 제7항에 있어서,상기 메타데이터는 상기 그룹 내의 모든 레프리젠테이션들의 프레임 레이트 속성들 중 최소 값을 가리키는 속성 및 상기 프레임 레이트 속성들 중 최대 값을 가리키는 속성을 포함하는, 단말.
- 단말이 HTTP 스트리밍을 통해 콘텐츠를 제공받는 방법에 있어서,상기 단말의 속성들을 포함하는 전송 요청 메시지를 서버로 전송하는 동작;상기 단말에 적합한 미디어 정보(media presentation description; MPD)을 상기 서버로부터 수신하는 동작 - 상기 MPD는 상기 콘텐츠의 레프리젠테이션들의 설명들을 포함함 -;상기 콘텐츠의 레프리젠테이션들의 설명들에 기반하여 상기 MPD 내에서 상기 레프리젠테이션(representation)들 중 적합한 레프리젠테이션(representation)을 선택하는 동작; 및상기 선택된 레프리젠테이션의 콘텐츠를 상기 서버에게 요청하는 동작을 포함하는, HTTP 스트리밍을 통한 콘텐츠 요청 방법.
- 제11항에 있어서,상기 전송 요청 메시지는 HTTP 요청 메시지이며, 상기 속성들은 상기 HTTP 요청 메시지의 매개변수로서 전달되며, 상기 HTTP 요청 메시지는 HTTP의 쿼리(query)를 사용함으로써 상기 속성들을 나타내는 매개변수들을 상기 서버로 전달하는, HTTP 스트리밍을 통한 콘텐츠 요청 방법.
- 제11항에 있어서,상기 전송 요청 메시지는 HTTP 요청 메시지이며, 상기 속성들은 상기 HTTP 요청 메시지의 매개변수로서 전달되며, 상기 HTTP 요청 메시지는 HTTP 헤더 내에 상기 매개변수들을 포함함으로써 상기 속성들을 나타내는 상기 매개변수들을 상기 서버로 전달하는, HTTP 스트리밍을 통한 콘텐츠 요청 방법.
- 제11항에 있어서,상기 속성들은 상기 단말의 성능 및 상기 단말의 선호도를 포함하는, HTTP 스트리밍을 통한 콘텐츠 요청 방법.
- 제11항에 있어서,상기 속성들은 상기 단말이 수용가능한 네트워크 자원의 최소 대역폭, 최대 대역폭 및 평균 대역폭을 포함하고, 상기 속성들은 상기 단말의 가로 해상도 및 세로 해상도를 포함하고, 상기 속성들은 상기 단말의 프레임 레이트(framerate)를 포함하는, HTTP 스트리밍을 통한 콘텐츠 요청 방법.
- 제11항에 있어서,상기 MPD는 상기 설명들의 URI들을 포함하고,상기 선택된 레프리젠테이션의 콘텐츠를 상기 서버에게 요청하는 동작은,상기 선택된 레프리젠테이션의 상기 URI를 사용하여 상기 선택된 레프리젠테이션의 콘텐츠를 상기 서버에게 요청하는 동작을 포함하는, HTTP 스트리밍을 통한 콘텐츠 요청 방법.
- 단말의 속성들을 포함하는 전송 요청 메시지를 단말로부터 수신하는 동작;상기 속성들에 기반하여 상기 단말에게 적합한 제1 미디어 정보(media presentation description; MPD)을 상기 단말에게 전송하는 동작 - 상기 제1 MPD는 상기 단말의 특정 카테고리에 특별한 레프리젠테이션들의 설명들 및 상기의 특별한 레프리젠테이션들의 URI를 포함함 -;상기 단말로부터 선택된 레프리젠테이션의 콘텐츠에 대한 요청을 받는 동작 - 상기 선택된 레프리젠테이션의 콘텐츠는 상기 제1 MPD 내의 상기 선택된 레프리젠테이션의 URI를 통해 요청됨 -; 및상기 선택된 레프리젠테이션의 콘텐츠를 HTTP 스트리밍을 통해 상기 단말에게 전송하는 동작을 포함하는, HTTP 스트리밍을 통한 콘텐츠 제공 방법.
- 제17항에 있어서,상기 속성들을 분석하여 상기 단말에게 적합한 상기 제1 MPD를 생성하는 동작을 더 포함하는, HTTP 스트리밍을 통한 콘텐츠 제공 방법.
- 제18항에 있어서,상기 제1 MPD는 제2 MPD에 기반하여 생성될 수 있고, 상기 제2 MPD는 상기 콘텐츠의 모든 레프리젠테이션들의 설명 및 모든 레프리젠테이션들의 URI를 포함하는, HTTP 스트리밍을 통한 콘텐츠 제공 방법.
