Abstract
A solar adsorption apparatus comprising a parallel array of adsorber tubes (7); and an array of pairs of reflectors (1, 1a), each pair of reflectors having an axis parallel to said parallel array of absorber tubes (7); arranged such that in a first position: a reflector (1) of one pair of reflectors and a reflector (la) of an adjacent pair of reflectors form a compound parabolic concentrator having one of said adsorber tubes (7) positioned to receive radiation reflected by said compound parabolic concentrator; and each pair of reflectors forms a shaded area (12) with an adsorber tube (7) positioned within said shaded area (12); the apparatus further comprising control means to move the pairs of reflectors (1, 1a) relative to the array of adsorber tubes (7) to a second position wherein: adsorber tubes (7) that were in a shaded area (12) in said first position are positioned to receive radiation from the compound parabolic concentrator formed from the reflector (1) of one pair of reflectors and a reflector (1a) of an adjacent pair of reflectors;.
