Description

SUPPORTING WALL
Technical Field
The present invention relates to a supporting wall, particularly for pieces of furniture, rooms or the like.
Background Art
In the furnishing industry and in particular in the motor-home, caravan, seagoing vessel sector or the like, the use has been known for some time of panels made of materials alternative to solid wood for the construction of structural elements such as sides, covers, bases of wardrobes or the like, or of elements for separating environments.
The alternative materials used are generally lighter than solid wood, with obvious advantages such as, for example, less effort required by the user to open or close a door.
Furthermore, the door supporting structure undergoes less stress during repeated opening and closing operations.
Again, the use of these alternative materials also allows considerably cutting manufacturing costs and consequently also reducing sales costs.
In particular, to make the above-mentioned elements, the use is known of multiply materials obtained by superimposing a plurality of panels of different materials, made integral the one with the other by means of the interposition of suitable adhesives.
One type of such panel is that of veneered panels, which comprise two outer elements between which is placed an intermediate layer of filling material, in such a way as to obtain a lightweight product without however this affecting strength.
The filling material is generally a "soft" material, such as polystyrene or honeycomb cardboard.
Because securing elements are generally fitted to such walls suitable for supporting objects of various kinds, a wood-matrix mapped frame is also generally placed between the outer elements, inasmuch as the filling material would not in itself be enough to withstand the weight of such securing elements and of any objects fitted on them. Such frame is also therefore equipped with a plurality of wood strips placed between the two outer elements, where between the two consecutive strips the filling material is placed.
These known supporting walls do have a number of drawbacks.
In particular, the presence of the frame restricts the fitting of the securing means to determinate areas, thus limiting the possibility of using the wall itself.
Furthermore, the mapping of the supporting frame requires considerably complex design and manufacture which inevitably affects manufacturing and sales costs.
Again, the presence of the inner frame also creates restrictions as regards the shape of the panel, both during the design phase and in the case of subsequent interventions on an already-worked panel. In fact, if a wall has to be subsequently shaped, for aesthetic or functional reasons, the final shape must necessarily take into account the particular shape of the inner frame.
Description of the Invention
The main aim of the present invention is to provide a supporting wall which allows to overcome the drawbacks of the background art and in particular which allows to fit the securing means in any point of the wall, so as to allow a better flexibility of use.
One object of the present invention is to provide a wall that is simpler and easier to make than walls of known type.
Another object again is to make shaping the walls easier, including during phases subsequent to manufacture of the panel itself.
Another object of the present invention is to provide a supporting wall that allows to overcome the mentioned drawbacks of the state of the art in the ambit of a simple, rational, easy and effective to use as well as low cost solution.
The above objects are achieved by the present supporting wall, comprising at least two outer elements and at least an intermediate layer in filling material positioned between said outer layers, characterised by the fact that it comprises at least two of said intermediate layers and at least a supporting element positioned between said two intermediate layers to define a semi-finished product. Other characteristics and advantages of the present invention will become more evident from the description of a preferred, but not sole, embodiment of a supporting wall, illustrated purely as an example but not limited to the annexed drawings in which:

figure 3 is a section view of the wall in figure 1 along the track plane III-III. Embodiments of the Inventions
With particular reference to such figures, globally indicated by 1 is a supporting wall, particularly for the manufacture of pieces of furniture, prefabricated structures or the like.
The wall 1 comprises two outer elements 2 and at least an intermediate layer 3 in filling material placed between the outer elements 2.
According to the invention, the wall 1 comprises at least two intermediate layers 3 and at least a supporting element 4 placed between the two intermediate layers 3 to define a semi-finished product 5.
The semi-finished product 5 can have both a flat and curvilinear conformation. In the embodiment shown in the illustrations, the wall 1 according to the invention is therefore composed of two outer elements 2 between which are positioned two intermediate layers 3 separated from each other by a supporting element 4.
Advantageously, at least one between the outer elements 2 and the supporting element 4, preferably both, is made from a wooden material.
More in particular, such wooden material is of the type comprising agglomerated wood fibres, i.e., compacted and assembled by means of the interposition of a binder.
A material suitable for making the outer elements 2 and/or the supporting element 4 is, e.g., that known on the market as MDF (Medium Density Fibre). Different embodiments cannot however be ruled out wherein at least one between the outer elements 2 and the supporting element 4 is made from a different material such as, e.g., a plastic material. Preferably, the thickness of the outer elements 2 is between 1 mm and 3 mm. In the same way, the thickness of the supporting element 4 is between 2 mm and 4 mm.
Advantageously, the intermediate layers 3 are made from a lightweight material, such as polymer foams or, alternatively, honeycomb structures.
Preferably, the intermediate layers 3 are thicker than the outer elements 2 and/or the supporting element 4.
More in detail, the thickness of the intermediate layers 3 is between 4 mm and 6 mm.
The semi-finished product 5 also comprises at least one layer of adhesive (not shown in detail in the illustrations) located between at least one of the intermediate layers 3 and the relative outer element 2 adjacent to it and/or the supporting element 4.
Suitably, between each outer element 2 and the intermediate layer 3 adjacent to it and between the latter and the supporting element 4 is positioned at least a layer of adhesive. Such layer of adhesive is preferably of the ureic type, though the use of different types of adhesive, e.g., of the polyurethane type, cannot be ruled out.
Advantageously, the wall 1 also comprises at least a securing element 6 associated integral with the semi-finished product 5.
More in particular, the securing element 6 is suitable for cooperating with a relative outer element 2.
The securing element 6 comprises at least an adhesive layer 7 brought in contact with the relative outer element 2 and suitable for supporting the securing element itself.
More in detail, the securing element 6 comprises at least a screw element 8 fitted inside the semi-finished product 5 through the outer element 2 against which the securing element itself is resting and through the intermediate layer 3 adjacent to it, in such a way that its extremity engages with the supporting element 4.
The supporting element 4 is therefore suitable for sustaining the screw element 8, keeping it engaged with the semi-finished product 5. The tightening of the screw element 8 therefore keeps the adhesive layer 7 adherent to the relative outer element 2.
The method for making the wall 1 according to the invention first of all contemplates the superimposing and reciprocal fastening of the elements/layers making it up.
More in particular, at least two outer elements 2 are provided, e.g., in panel form, at least two intermediate layers 3, these too in panel form, and at least one supporting element 4.
The various elements/layers are then assembled together in such a way as to obtain the semi-finished product 5.
More in particular, a layer of adhesive is applied to the face of an outer element 2 and an intermediate layer 3 is positioned on such face.
Similarly, on such intermediate layer 3, on the opposite side with respect to the outer element 2, another layer of adhesive is applied on which the supporting element 4 is then positioned.
The process continues by applying a layer of adhesive on the free face of the supporting element 4, superimposing on such free face another intermediate layer 3, spreading a layer of adhesive on such intermediate layer 3, on the opposite side with respect to the supporting element 4, and finally fitting another outer element 2.
Following the hardening of the adhesive, the semi-finished product 5 is then obtained.
Such semi-finished product 5 can then undergo a cold-shaping phase, in order to give it the desired shape.
More in particular, the shaping phase is performed by applying a determinate pressure on the semi-finished product 5 for a preset time interval in order to give it any curved shape whatever.
After performing the shaping phase, one or more securing elements 6 are fitted to the semi-finished product 5 thus obtained.
The fitting of each securing element 6 is performed by bringing into contact its adhesive layer 7 with the relevant outer element 2 and screwing up one or more screw elements 8 inside the semi-finished product itself. The screw elements 8 have such a length that when screwing up is completed, they cross the outer element 2 on which is fitted the relative securing element 6 and the intermediate layer 3 adjacent to such outer element 2, until they engage with the supporting element 4.
The supporting element 4, because it has a greater consistency than that of the intermediate layers 3, supports the screw elements 8 and so keeps them engaged with the semi-finished product 5.
The screwing up of the screw elements 8 in the semi-finished product 5 then pushes the adhesive layer 7 towards the relative outer element 2, thus maintaining them in reciprocal contact and ensuring the fastness of the securing element 8.
It has in fact been ascertained how the described invention achieves the proposed objects and in particular the fact is underlined that the wall according to the invention is much more flexible to use than walls of known type.
The layer structure of the semi-finished product, and in particular the presence of the supporting element allows positioning the securing elements as required in any position of the semi-finished product itself.
Furthermore, the making of the wall according to the invention is much easier and more practical compared to known walls, inasmuch as obtained by simply superimposing the various elements/layers.
Again, the wall according to the invention allows changing the shape of the semi-finished product as required and at any time, without any type of restriction.

Claims

1) Supporting wall (1), comprising at least two outer elements (2) and at least an intermediate layer (3) in filling material positioned between said outer layers (2), characterised by the fact that it comprises at least two of said intermediate layers (3) and at least a supporting element (4) positioned between said two intermediate layers (3) to define a semi-finished product (5).
2) Wall (1) according to claim 1, characterised by the fact that it comprises at least a securing element (6) associated with said semi-finished product (5) and suitable for cooperating with a relative outer element (2).
3) Wall (1) according to claim 2, characterised by the fact that said securing element (6) comprises at least an adhesive layer (7) placed in contact with the relative outer element (2).
4) Wall (1) according to claim 2 or 3, characterised by the fact that said securing element (6) comprises at least a screw element (8) which is fitted in said semi-finished product (5) passing through the relative outer element (2) and the adjacent intermediate layer (3) and the extremity of which engages in said supporting element (4), the latter being suitable for keeping the screw element itself engaged with said semi-finished product (5).
5) Wall (1) according to one or more of the preceding claims, characterised by the fact that at least one between said outer elements (2) and said supporting element (4) is made of a wooden material.
6) Wall (1) according to claim 5, characterised by the fact that said wooden material is of the type comprising agglomerated wood fibres.
7) Wall (1) according to one or more of the preceding claims, characterised by the fact that it comprises at least an adhesive layer placed between at least one of said intermediate layers (3) and the relative outer element (2) adjacent to it and/or said supporting element (4).
8) Wall (1) according to one or more of the preceding claims, characterised by the fact that the thickness of said intermediate layers (3) is between 4 mm and 6 mm.
9) Wall (1) according to one or more of the preceding claims, characterised by the fact that the thickness of said supporting element (4) is between 2 mm and 4 mm.
10) Wall (1) according to one or more of the preceding claims, characterised by the fact that the thickness of said outer elements (2) is between 1 mm and 3 mm.
1 1) Wall (1) according to one or more of the preceding claims, characterised by the fact that said intermediate layers (3) are thicker than said supporting element
(4) and/or said outer elements (2).
