Abstract

Disclosed are a testing device for a flat panel display device and a method for testing using same. The testing device of the flat panel display device comprises: a beam splitter for splitting light emitted from a light source and for separately emitting the split light through fiber optic terminals; a high-speed light phase retarder for phase-scanning at a high speed the light incidented from the beam splitter and for transmitting reflected light to the beam splitter; a sample scanner for irradiating the light incidented from the beam splitter onto the flat panel display device, the object to be tested, and for transmitting the light reflected from the flat panel display device to the beam splitter; a light detector for incidenting the light reflected from the high-speed light phase retarder and the sample scanner, using the beam splitter, and for modulating the incidented light into an electrical signal; and an image signal treating unit for generating an image from the electrical signal output by the light detector and for displaying the generated image to observe a defect in the image on the flat surface display device.
