Abstract

A touch-sensitive surface has a conductive coating wherein the surface, at at least two opposite sides, is connected to electrodes (1.3) for generating a field at the surface. A drive circuit generates a voltage which is applied to the electrodes (1.3) in a mutually inverted manner by means of a clock circuit (4.8) and can be influenced capacitively at the electrodes (1.3) by the approach of an object (1.1). The voltages of the electrodes are combined at a summation point (4.40). A splitting circuit (4.6) splits the voltage supplied by the electrodes (1.3) clock-synchronously and assigns it to the electrodes. A comparator (4.7) is provided for comparing the voltages assigned to the electrodes (1.3) in order to determine a control value (4.16) for detecting the position and/or movement of the object (1.1), wherein the control value corresponds to the local position of the object on the surface. A control circuit is provided for the inverted control of the electrodes by means of the control value (4.16) until the voltages supplied from the electrodes are identical at the comparator (4.7). A capacitively acting touch pad is thereby provided which enables a high transparency and is vandal-proof.
