  • the present invention relates to devices used for straightening teeth & is concerned with an adjustable orthodontic bracket assembly with continuous adjustment in any 3 planes of motion X, Y, Z planes (tip, torque & rotational movements).
  • Orthodontic brackets are used to move crooked, malaligned or misaligned teeth and do so by controlling tooth movement in three dimensions namely vertical, horizontal and rotational.
  • a previously proposed orthodontic technique is the edgewise technique that uses so-called Edgewise brackets.
  • the Edgewise brackets have horizontal arch wire slots that allow good control of tooth movement in the horizontal and rotational directions.
  • Another previously proposed technique is the Begg technique that uses so-called Begg brackets.

  • the bracket pre-angulation in other words, an inclination of the "slot" in the mesial-distal direction, defines the tooth position in all the three planes.
  • the prescriptions of pre-adjustments are not efficient for 100% of the patients, because they are based on medium values and not on individualized ones. Because of that, the correct orthodontic treatment demands accomplishment of bends in the wires, rebonding and a lot of administration to reach an appropriate final result, in other words, the correct three-dimensional positioning of the teeth with periodontal health, stability and aesthetics.

Abstract

L'invention concerne un bracket orthodontique ajustable comportant un dispositif de mesure d'angle. Ce bracket comporte un élément corps servant à fixer un fil métallique d'arc orthodontique dans une position telle qu'une contrainte est générée et qu'une force est appliquée sur une dent à traiter, un élément de base de collage servant à coller le bracket sur le côté buccal ou lingual de la dent à traiter, et un élément de liaison qui est mobile et qui relie l'élément corps à l'élément de base.
