Abstract

The invention relates to a laser ignition device (20) for an internal combustion engine, which comprises a laser spark plug (22) and an optical system (26) arranged downstream of the laser spark plug (22), wherein the optical system (26) is designed to focus laser radiation (34) emitted by the laser spark plug (22) onto a first focal point (36), and wherein the optical system (26) is designed to focus a proportion (37) of the laser radiation (34) that goes beyond the first focal point (36) onto a second focal point (40).
